  1. I'm against upgrading to 32, 25 is nice, it solves our reserve slot problem, and it sets us apart from other servers and attracts attention. Maps aren't made for 32 players, they're way too crowded and things end up being a mess.
  2. Well, I'm not sure what these specifically are compressed by, but there's actually 2 different compression types, sfpack and sfark. Most are done if sfark, but there are several sites that use sfpack instead.
  3. You'll want to learn how to do some simpler music first before doing too much complex orchestral stuff, especially if you're unfamiliar with the program. You use SFpack to unpack the soundfonts, then you can use them with a soundfont player.
  4. If you bought it in a store, I'd recommend you go back and return it right now (if they let you, and if you haven't registered and account yet) because you can buy it online (for probably cheaper) and get free updates for life. When you get the boxed version, you only get one update (I'm not sure how it works with skipping versions and such). Alternatively, you can go to the Image Line shop and buy unlimited updates for life for $30. It's definitely worth it. If you do end up returning it and going with the online version instead, I can get you 10% off. http://affiliate.image-line.com/BDJJJAJ495
  5. Not to mention that in a game where all you do is sit and stare at a screen for hours at a time they only have 1 song for the entire game.
  6. Hey Abyss! Nice to see you around, I'm surprised you're just signing up now, I thought you were already here.
  7. If anyone ends up with an extra copy of HL2 Ep. 2 that they have no clue what to do with, you know who to call Steam Name: Zephyr_Tread
  8. A, old games are way more difficult, The original zelda you started with no weapon in the middle of a screen, and you had no clue where to go or what to do. Also, think of Contra, Mario Bros, etc. New games hold your hand too much, and when they are hard, most of the time you just need to find out what you have to do, rather than just be good enough to do it. Even puzzle-solving was often harder back in the day, a lot of puzzles these days are patronizing and ridiculously simple to any gamers, but if you've ever played Adventures of lolo 2, then you'll know how tough some puzzles can be.
  9. Ack, I thought you were powerlord, you should get a unique avatar, it's how I recognize people at a glance.
  10. Depends on your internet connection, but new games can be expected to take about a day to download, it's reasonable though, considering how much content you're actually downloading.
  11. HL2 = worth $50 HL2 ep.1 = worth $25 HL2 ep, 2 = worth $25 TF2 = Worth $100 Portal = Worth $35 Getting them all for only $10, = $10 (and you thought I was gonna say priceless...) I may have exaggerated a bit, but they're incredible games, all of them. Take this deal and avoid my mistake, I bought most of them separately and spent like $30 more than I had to, and I still don't have HL2 ep. 2, but it was still worth it.
  12. Yikes, that's a good deal. If I was at all involved in any sort of webhosting I'd get right on that.
  13. We should change it to frog now just for fun. Looks good actually, I love the wonky spy mask.
  14. Delete them and can never be re-earned? Is Valve thinking at all?
  15. I agree with a lot of this, I don't really like where it's all going, but I don't see it as all bad either, I agree that they are way too impersonal nowadays though. Nothing is real. If they could somehow create an uber social hub (so there's not some new site to sign up to every 2 weeks) I think SOME problems might be solved, but it might just make things worse.
  16. It's an option available in some DAW's (although it's possible via workaround in almost all of them) that will quickly render a track or mixer insert or whatever to audio, this is done when you're comfortable with a certain element or portion of a song (you like one instrument, for example, but want to keep working on another in the same area of the song). By rendering the "Finished" portion to audio, every time that you listen/work on that part, instead of sending midi to VST's, then rendering the audio through the effects, it can simply play the audio (which sounds the same as what would be rendered). This can really cut down on the CPU load for a given area.
  17. With FL you can simply File>Import midi and it will get the midi data in there (not instruments, that's not how it's done) just be careful that you only use the MIDI to get a feel for the song and learn the melody etc, we don't need midi rips on OCR.
  18. Haha, I think everyone on the Holonic team should be forced to play through Iji at least once, I had already gone through it before I got involved with Holonic, but It's a great game to say the least.
  19. Well, the logical laws of physics don't tend to change between the games, but I see your point. Time to go play some more Mega Man.
  20. Reserved slots free eh? Interesting, I might still donate every once in a while just to pay my dues, you shouldn't have to pay for our fun on your own. But this month I'll be sending my donation plus some extra to support OCR in the spirit of this being support OCR month. All the rest of you should do the same. Also, Wednesday is great for custom night for me. I should most likely be able to make it most weeks, although I've been scarcely on TF2 lately as some of you may have noticed. As for the Stats recent, while I'm mostly indifferent, I think that resetting them once in a while is a good idea, it encourages more competition (although hopefully not cheating/farming) and most people want to see a more accurate and recent k:d ratio for themselves.
  21. Using the snap option in the playlist (make sure you use the grid icon on the bar of the playlist, not anywhere else) set it to "Line", then press Ctrl+A to select all the blocks and press Ctrl+Q to quantize them onto the grid.
  22. I like doing surveys when they're set up on survey monkey, it's hassle free. Let us all know what you learn!
  23. Might need to work on your English a bit, and a "tune" generally refers to a song, not a sound or instrument. For a lower quality solution, try FL's builtin "plucked" channel. Or search for harp soundfonts and you'll probably be able to find something. Alternatively, use an FM synth (DX10) to make one how you want it. Good luck.
  24. If you understand the basic principles, then practice is the main thing to help you out. Learn about Compressors and limiters, and maybe find a mixing tutorial or 2. Good luck.
  25. Simple fix, in the left side of the clip bar of the playlist (where you draw the auto clips) change the focus of the playlist to automation clips and there should be some little boxes to toggle settings, make sure the "Step" box is turned off, then switch to the pencil tool and you should be fine.
