OCR TF2: New Server forthcoming - new server IPs and other stuff
Zephyr replied to Bahamut's topic in General Discussion
Nice, Junction looks good, and I've always loved gravel pit with a passion so hopefully this is just as good. -
Why are you here? Please leave and take your bad grammar with you.

OCR TF2: New Server forthcoming - new server IPs and other stuff
Zephyr replied to Bahamut's topic in General Discussion
It has been mentioned a loooooong time ago, but thanks for bringing it up again. I checked it out, but I dunno, it's a little slow and painful for my liking. I doubt I'll ever play it again... -
? Now it's YOUR video? Make up your mind... Also, did it really take you a year? Because that's what made it seem like a letdown for me.

In honor of the upcoming scout update: -
Haha! A year for this? Sorry dude, but I'd want my year back. Way too many random music and scene changes, all it is is pictures. Unless you drew and animated all of those yourself I'm not impressed.

Music and sound effects needed for flash game
Zephyr replied to StarZander's topic in General Discussion
Just a tip to developers out there, you need to see some evidence that the game is either finished, or near completion to get most people interested. Even without pay, if the game is abandoned what was the point of composing for it. How far into it are you? -
This question is unrelated to the main topic at hand is considered derailing a thread, plus you're a lot less likely to get any help in here (FL studio is PC only) than if you had your own thread. Please go start your own thread if after research you can't find the answer, but please, do some research first.

Same here, and if I just right click>Save as then it's not recognized as a zip file, I hate file sharing sites like that, I'd try something else. http://www.Mediafire.com is really good.

I love 8-bit music, I just respect it a lot for some reason, it doesn't sound bad quality to my ears at all, doesn't grate on them like with some people. I just love it, and the lack of fancy instruments meant that they actually had to make the music really good. Too many people these days hide behind their fancy sounds if you know what I mean. My favorites so far are Journey to Silius and Silver Surfer. I'm surprised these aren't up here yet, however maybe it's because they aren't under-rated, they've gotten plenty of praise over the years. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBwgUxKe0Ao&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7GcjHUrKXM Here's my somewhat out of nowhere contribution, I had this game as a kid, and while the music isn't amazing it's fun and made the game enjoyable, I use to play it all the time.

Wow, that's really good music! I don't have any recommendations really, but I'll tell you that the soundtrack to Adventures of Lolo sucks, it's a thinking puzzle logic game that could take hours to beat, and it has 1 song. Ouch!

Not bad, the acting wasn't great but the action sequences were good, they did a great job on the striders/gunships. That guy with the crowbar is supposed to be freeman? And since when did Alyx decide to change skin color, hair color, and race? Oh well, I'll keep up with this and see where it goes. Plus their website is broken.

Too bad it didn't work but maybe you could try one with a different concept. For example: A synthesis and sound design compo where you give them certain criteria at the start of the hour and they need to design a synth patch around it. One could be: Lead>Drive>Portamento. Or maybe "Make an 8-bit pad". People would work on it for the hour then get 5 minutes to record a short synth line, 5 minutes to render, and 10 for uploading. Maybe you could do some where you're limited to a certain synth (pref. free) like synth1, allowing FX could make for some really interesting sounds too. Or maybe a 1 hour compo where you give them a 4 bar midi composition and they have to remix it and do whatever they can in just that one hour with that source, they could be free to expand on it in any way they want too, or change genres altogether.

I have no clue what it was called, I think it was just the dudes name, but it had a normal looking guy with a magic wand who could make blocks disappear with it. He went around in castles and stuff and it had crazy puzzles. Someone help me out here... Also there was an old DOS shareware game called something like Thor that I really liked, had a good sense of humor for its time. I'll definitely second Scorched Earth, Secret agent man and Crystal Caves (all of them). Jazz jackrabbit was decent... Keep in mind all of this is coming from ancient memories. Edit: First game is Clyde's adventure; I found it by googling "dos game freeware castle magic wand" believe it or not. http://www.classicdosgames.com/video/cga.html Edit Edit: Thor game is called God of Thunder : http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/217

Hrmm... OHC on Friday anyone? No offence but it's almost identical but with less time to finish up and on a night when most people are busy, the night right after the OHC.I don't know how well this is gonna go, I love the OHC, but I'm busy on Fridays.

I've always found it an interesting concept that videogames are one media where when you purchase it, you don't automatically get everything included. For example, DVD's you can easily skip from scene to scene whenever you like, pause, rewind, you don't need to watch the first scene to "Unlock" the second one, nor do you have to watch the movie through to gain access to the bonus features. Cd's can be skipped to any song on the disc at will. However videogames must be painstakingly progressed through, bit by bit. The game developers go to lengths to prevent you from getting to places you haven't "earned" access to. If you buy the game and you really want to play level 3, why can't you just play level 3? Sure it might ruin the flow of the game, but if you don't want to ruin it, then JUST DON'T DO IT! It's obviously nice to have unlocks as an incentive to do things, and I'm not saying I'd have it any other way, I just found it to be an odd concept. TL;DR You payed for the game, why do you have to unlock levels and things.

For strictly games? Xbox 360, I've never had one before and it looks like a great gaming system. For general use definitely computer.

Adventures of Lolo. I'd get stuck then work though a ton of different possible solutions in my head as I went to bed, it helped a lot actually. -

I missed this the first time round somehow, love artoon's OST, I'll check this out right away, congrats. -
Apparently the value of information depends on its source, I had always figured a right answer was right wherever it came from. And what's the matter with producers and specifically "Rap" beats. Beats are music too, they may not be lengthy lyrical melodic masterpieces all the time but they're obviously popular nowadays for a reason, they're very catchy. Also, agreeing with anso, if I had to choose one person to answer a question about a technological problem between someone who could either; play the clarinet, or someone who uses reason to make all of their music and obviously knows the software very well, which would I take? No brainer right? Apparently not... and a few people would consider a DAW an instrument (or tool) of music creation now anyways. I may not be a rap beats producer, and I DO play several instruments, but I'm slightly offended so apparently you don't want my help...

Not games so much as a good plot in general. Especially movies though, I try to take something out of every movie that I see in one way or another. One particular movie that really made me think was Yes Man, it shows how much more interesting life is if you actually go out and live it. Also, while I've never played it, I've heard about the plot in Bioshock, which kind of made me re-evaluate some things. It's similar to Shadow of the Colossus, where you just do things because you're told to, and it turns out that you did something very wrong. What is right or wrong really except one's own perception of it. Do the "Bad guys" really believe that what they are doing is wrong?
