  1. Ok if you are read the post 2 up, that is not actually me on the left.
  2. BLIND GUARDIAN has some awesome covers that are a bit unexpected. Barbara Ann - I tried to find the live version from their Tokyo Tales album, but there are no youtubes of it. I think it is even better than this one. - Like you have never heard it before!Mr. Sandman - If clowns freak you out, then switch pages so you can just listen. Mwhahaha Those are the Three most unexpected ones I think. I'll post some other covers too. - Deep Purples song spiced up a bit And for you thrash/speed/solo enthusiasts... - Though not very unexpected, This cover gets caps and italics because not only is it an amazing cover, but it was this song, and this exact AMV actually, that started me madly hunting for anything Blind Guardian I could find. I watched this video in 11th grade, and they quickly became my favorite band for years. I always thought it was funny that a cover song would be the one to hook me. This link is sufficiently interesting, and something I probably would not have expected. I really like this version. I don't know if this is unexpected. I think that all the people who first heard the song on Big Shiny Tunes 4 back in the day would have found it unexpected that Orgy was just covering it. I heard a remix of Eleanor Rigby that I thought was by Orgy for years, until I tried to find it today. Apparently Godhead does a version, but it sounds like a remixed version of the one I was searching for. , and it sounds a lot like Orgy's vocalist Jay Gordon to me. I could only find it in a DBZ music Video, sorry.
  3. Dates now in phone. Well i will gladly host yourself and Jordan and anyone else, though there are probably better locations than where I reside. Though we do have this! . .. ... .... .....right. That's me on the left.
  4. TOOOOONIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHTAAAAHhhhhh!!!!
  5. Reheally. A vvegas meetup in August, you say... Do you have the dates figured already? I'd like to see if I can fit that one in, I've never been to Vegas. If you start a JaDEFest to cover the west, I'll start a BizFest to cover Canada (it's not THAT big...) Then we will have established a continental perimeter... they'd all be surrounded...mwahaha
  6. I always saw these as more practical for DJ/live performance than for studio recording, though they do have applications in both arenas. I DJ and will buy a KP3 sometime in the near future.
  7. Considering it is still consistently selling out theaters even on weekdays, at least up here, I think it may.
  8. Don't know if this has been mentioned in this increasingly large thread but I am gonna throw it out there Would this compo be a tad fairer and perhaps just better overall if who the Robot Masters were was anonymous? Voting would not be (as) biased based on anything outside of the arrangements, plus it would add the thrill of speculation! I think it would be a bit better, but I can't see it lasting too long. Like if say Disco Dan entered, I think it would be pretty evident by the third round. all in all I don't see it working, but what do you guys think?
  9. Okay after trying to write this 5 times and having facebook chat pop me out and make me back up 5 pages and having to rewrite, forget it. I FINALLY SAW THE MOVIE TONIGHT, WAS ANYONE ELSE REMINDED OF MACALANIA FOREST FROM FINAL FANTASY X? Cuz I was.
  10. Just overheard on the news the Canadian government is matching donations dollar for dollar, through agencies such as the Red Cross, etc. Here is an FAQ and lengthy collection of organizations helping out and accepting donations: http://www.international.gc.ca/humanitarian-humanitaire/canadians_help-aide_canadien.aspx?
  11. Nice to hear there is some progress here guys! That's awsome!
  12. I will be there either way, but I would rather ditch some classes then pass up potential DJ work(s) on and around New Years Eve, plus it is hugely important to me that i can connect with other people that are back home for that short window of time during Christmas/New Years holidays.
  13. My first stories were of deleted files, but I have had pretty good luck with lost files. Only one I can remember was Suikoden II. I was at the final boss sequence and couldn't seem to beat it. It was a month later I think, the save file was lost on the card. It might have just saved me a lot of frustration, I am not sure it was possible to beat the bosses without doing a lot of leveling up, and I might have saved at a point where I couldn't go back to do that.
  14. I think there is some really good advice here. I think I originally multiquoted almost every response Then there were 3, and then I wrote too much, so now there is only 1 quote response. This was a huge issue in my life and is something I will always struggle with I think, though I am getting better at it. I always want to be in on the fun, so I struggle and often fail at sticking to a plan I have set out for myself. I don't have a cure all for this, I think it comes down to just being really assertive on this front. If you are like me and have a hard time motivating yourself out of sheer discipline, then find out what you are motivated by and choose to put yourself in situations where you are more likely to be externally motivated. EXAMPLE - I can't motivate myself to work hard to finish a remix, or I haven't yet, despite it being a goal of mine for years. I have started I don't know how many, and have remix ideas for probably one third of all the video game tracks in existence. Yet I have not finished one, not even come close. I am motivated by something, so what is it? If it is not me and my decisions or willpower that motivates me, it is something else. So I start to identify what does motivate me. I know I am motivated by deadlines, and I know I am especially motivated by group activities and fun challenges, especially where there is some form of recognition involved, be it ever so slight and fleeting. When I started getting serious about getting involved in this community, one of the first posts that caught my attention was FBRC2009. The Freshly Baked Remixers Challenge seemed super cool and exciting, and looking back, it was because it had elements that naturally motivated me. Not only that, but the choice was made for me regarding the source to remix, another sometimes daunting step for me, as my initiative can be crippled if I have too many options. So, I entered very enthusiastically, and when it was said and done, I had created Chocobongo!!, which was my first complete remix of a video game track. It wasn't good enough to submit to OHC, and it didn't win FBRC, but people did hear it at the listening party, and I got some feedback, which was a hugely motivating factor for me, the fact that I wanted to have something for the listening party. I FINALLY took a critical step toward a goal I have wanted to reach for years. I had never managed to complete a full mix until that point. My next step is to create a ReMix I that is Mixpost Quality. That Chocobongo track has potential, and I have a Corneria techno track that I think could make it if I made the right improvements, and I have a MegaMan 3 metal track that would make it if it were recorded and mastered right I am sure. I haven't touched any of them for over month for a few reasons, but I am beginning to think that a collaboration scenario would be the situation where I would produce the best results, have the most enjoyment, be the most motivated, and learn/improve the most. So, once I get some homework out of the way, I will be looking to collab with someone who is at the same level or better than me, and would be willing to work with me on getting something posted. And you know what? If I can find someone, I bet it will happen. It's late and I rambled and wrote a lot, I hope what I said is helpful, and that you can see the point I am trying to make, which is essentially: Stop trying to change what you are. If you are not flourishing in your current situation: 1. What environment(s) do you flourish in? 2. What steps can you take that would move you toward those environments? 3. TAKE THOSE STEPS! Maybe you need to have some of us call you 2 minutes after your friends call you and say "Hey Cody we are going to do OHC and it wouldn't be the same if you weren't there man!! This is your chance to get closer to your goals!" If you are impulsive, swing it in your favor somehow! Enough. I'll bug you in IRC next time I see you Good luck bud!
  15. Was planning on shooting some fun snowboarding footage at PowderKing today to try out with Willrock's mix, weather was supposed to be zero and sunny. Instead it was overcast and by 3:00 you couldn't see 5 lift towers up the hill because of the thick wet flurries. On to the next plan
  16. Oh wow. It is hard to read all of this and check out those pictures, as I was not there this year. I'll be at MAG9 no doubt about it. It's already slated to be the highlight of this upcoming year!
  17. I was about to respond to some devastating stories of lost save files on the "ever cried at a video game?" thread, but I think I'll start a new thread. Backstory: I was the kid who for years didn't have a game system because my parents didn't want us to have one. My grandparents went behind their back to get us a Nintendo, and then afterwards, it was always a struggle to get a new system. Usually they were inherited from friends who were upgrading to the next gen. Needless to say all my gaming happened at friends houses. I played the FFVII demo and was immediately obsessed, I needed to play this game. So once my best friend got it, I was over at his house all the time, playing whenever I could. I would save to his memory card, and continue when I came back. The problem was, he would buy more games and need more save space, so my files would be the ones to go, and he wouldn't tell me or try to back them up. I had just gotten out of Midgar when this happened the first time. I had just gotten a chocobo when it happened the second time. I got to the last boss before leaving Midgar the third time. I had just gotten out of Midgar again when it happened the fourth time. I got to the save right before the crazy motorcycle minigame the fifth time it happened. It happened two more times before I got my own memory card and started the save file that I eventually finished the game with. I would have gotten my own memory card faster if hadn't been promised it would never happen again. EVERY TIME! How naive I was. It didn't bother me the first two times because I seem to enjoy the beginnings of RPG's the most. It's the knowledge that you have a lot of game ahead of you. The excitement of beginnings. After the 4th time, it was getting a bit tedious though. I started carrying my Playstation memory card in my wallet cause I still didn't have one. I did the same with a PS2 memcard, had one before I ever had the system. I accidentally paid it forward by deleting another friends FFVIII file with 80 hours on it a few years later. He was devastated, and even though it was 8 years ago, he still manages to bring it up, lol. SOOOOO That's the story of how I got through Midgar 7 times before really ever touching Disc II. There's better stories out there, lets hear em!
  18. I was completely stunned to see an NHL playoffs thread in here. In January no less. funny. Or more likely, he simply doesn't like you. I can't say I follow the NFL, but I do like to watch highlights. I also know from watching old sports blooper VHS cassetes that the Jets have come a long way over the last decade. I'll also say I am happy with how Favre has done this season too, he's had some sensational highlight reel completions this year.
  19. I agree with SoulinEther. Good job on getting the word out.
  20. Hey Gibbo, heres the Canadian Death Race info.

  21. I submitted a bluefox trick, a prot trick, and a random project album trick. Contest over.
  22. I currently have a Digitech RP200, which I has been enough for everything I have done musically so far. I am going to be in the market for an upgrade though, and am starting to look at my options. The guys at the music store seem to think that the Line 6 M13 would be a great way to go, and I am inclined to agree. Basically I am looking for a great multi-effect pedal, as I like to have a good variety of presets to start tweaking from. Do any of you have any experience in this area? Price is not a concern atm, just looking for personal opinions/experience with other products I might not have been aware of. Thanks all.
  23. I really don't even think I care. Just kidding, this is the coolest thing I have read in a while! I think that the story of Charlemagne is worthy of this type of retelling, I'll be happy to give it a listen!
