  1. This mix is awesome. And when you think it's done, it just keeps coming back with more awesome. Bowser's music doesn't get the respect due to it. This is a step in the right direction for Koopas everywhere. But seriously, good luck with the judges!
  2. Very cool. Nicely layered too. I love stuff like this. Good luck and post any updates!
  3. I agree completely. There is a certain feel to the whole mix which binds it together. Very nicely done, though it feels like it should end at a few points. Maybe tie those together a little bit? That's my only suggestion. Otherwise, I think it's excellent and a different style (kinda chippy) which would add diversity to the site.
  4. This is a simply amazing take on a forgotten source. Mazedude does a great job of controlling such chaotic elements and producing a terrific ReMix. It actually reminds me of Cornelius...
  5. This was the question posed last week: "Veteran Gamer Opinion Poll #4 What is your biggest reason for purchasing an unfamiliar game? a) reputation of the developer graphics c) ratings, reviews, and/or recommendations d) curiosity" Here's what you said: a - 0 votes (0.00%) b - 0 votes (0.00%) c - 5 votes (50.00%) WINNER! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> d - 5 votes (50.00%) WINN- Wait, another winner? >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Um, well, it appears that we've hit our first tie, folks. And no votes for reputation of the developer or graphics! Wow, you guys are purists, placing such value in gameplay and novelty. And bravo, I say! If you are interested, there is another sig. (I'm not out of ideas yet!) Questions? Comments? Poll ideas? PM me!
  6. Always a pleasure to hear your work, Blue Magic. Very nicely layered instrumentation. I dig the rhythm and split audio synth. I guess this isn't worth much as a critique, as I think it's great... Looking forward to more updates!
  7. This ReMix is hot, hot, hot! I was sold from the opening measure. The instruments are woven together masterfully yet have such independent energy and vibrance. Tastes like someone put hot sauce in this gumbo. Buen provecho! Can we have some more, please?
  8. This take on the opening theme is crazy good. The piano is so... emphatic I guess is the right word. Meanwhile, the sax is smooth as ice, hot as (blue) fire, and generally awesome. I didn't notice that the second rendition was 10 minutes long; I regretted that it ended so soon! Anyway, this is a very beautiful take on the source. Kudos!
  9. It's been a while... but it's back! Veteran Gamer Opinion Poll #4 What is your biggest reason for purchasing an unfamiliar* game? a) reputation of the developer graphics c) ratings, reviews, and/or recommendations d) curiosity Vote and be heard! Results and a new sig in a week or two. Happy holidays! *Explanation: a game or series with which you are not familiar. For example, why would you purchase MegaMan 9 if you had never played the series? Or why would you pick up Vandal Hearts or Viva Piñata without prior knowledge of those games?
  10. I began playing LoZ:TP once again and realized that the first few notes of Kakariko Canyon music are a reference to the classic Kakariko Village music in LoZ3 and Ocarina. Not thinking much about the rest of the tune, I went about my merry way. A few days later, I found this regarding the same song: "...while Twilight Princess only employs brief quotes of the opening melody, the rest being a remix of the Dark World music" (Source here, under Kakariko Village) I can hear it now, though I never would have caught it otherwise. Anyone else pick it up?
  11. RIP, Free Radical (and all your monkey mayhem). I wouldn't be surprised to see David Doak and friends start up again elsewhere. Those guys are too good to be forced out of the industry!
  12. This is an incredibly warm and emotional arrangement. I was amazed by the expressiveness created by tempo and volume changes. Excellent work, particularly for a new ReMixer. Go CarnCarby!
  13. http://kizuna-game.jp/ There has been very limited information on this game so far but, apparently, it has been in production for some time. The vibe most people seem to get from it is "a pencil-shaded Shadow of the Colossus". I find it interesting that this game is shying away (though not escaping) from the typically anime/kawaii characters found in Japanese RPGs. Now if only I could read Japanese...
  14. Donkey Kong Country - underwater theme Bomberman 64 maybe Starfox too? I might pick up Drawn to Life again to hear the music (ending song especially)
  15. This is the beauty of an online vendor like CafePress or Printfection (click banner below), as there is no cost to the designer and all shipping/handling/processing is done by the vendor. You can set the "commission" per item as high as you like.
  16. That may be the best way to go as it will be posted for the world to see, maximizing your audience (also plugging for OCR). I wanted to go with CafePress for my own work but their copyright agreement was a little hazy so I chose Printfection (also free!) instead. It would be a lot of work for whoever ran the "shop" and posted files no matter what company you choose, unless you could get artists to agree to submit appropriately formatted images. Still, I think it's a fun idea, particularly for those of us who may have better graphic skills than musical talent. (Unfortunately, I would suspect that blatant use of copyrighted characters for cash would not be legal... Plus, who would decide what would get posted?)
  17. I really like what you've done with this source (one of my favorite LoZ tunes). Sort of calypso... You've gotten plenty of suggestions thus far on production and harmony, but what struck me most about the mix was a sense of lacking as the piano kicks in near the end. Immediately, I thought a sax solo starting aroung 2:08 would be a great segue into the piano and could add to the sense of finality and resolve at the end. Of course, you may not want to take this avenue, but it felt to me that something interesting, diverging from the source, at about that point would spice up the mix.
  18. I was waiting for an industrial pipe noise (clang!) as part of the percussion. Very nice synergy. I agree on the panpipes. Maybe increase the volume? Or bring some instrumentation to the forefront for sonic variety. Regardless, it's really good as is.
  19. Don't they all need some OCR lovin'... I just picked up Vagrant Story and I agree wholeheartedly. I'm sure the further I progress, the more convinced I will be that this game needs ReMixes! I mean, some of the mix titles are obvious: Riot Rave, Valerian Valtz, and Hardin's Harpsichord Hop, for example.
  20. Too true, too often! What's that, oh, any one of your knights can beat the snot out of me but you expect me to take on the ultimate evil... alone?! You couldn't send your army to take out the big bad guy? Good thing he'll wait until I level up and maybe form a posse.
  21. How y'all doin'? It's about daggum time for... VG Opinion Poll results! This was the question posed last week: Veteran Gamer Opinion Poll #3 In a FPS, which is more tempting? a) writing your name on the wall with bullets maiming NPCs c) blowing up everything and everyone d) turning on your teammates Here's what you said: a - 1 vote (14.29%) >>>>>>>>>>>>>> b - 2 votes (28.57%) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> c - 4 votes (57.14%) WINNER! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> d - 0 votes (0.00%) Looks like the pyros are having a field day. Thanks to all the virtual firearms experts who voted this round. You make my not-so-hard work worthwhile. As usual, there is a sig (this time I'm just linking to my Photobucket account). Thanks again and look out for another poll next week! Only a few remain (good news for those of you getting sick of seeing these).
  22. Nice. That's much better. Thanks for the link.
  23. For a few laughs: Dictionary of RPG cliches or The Grand List of Console Role Playing Game Cliches and, related (and equally hilarious), The Top 100 Things I'd Do If Ever Became An Evil Overlord Enjoy!
  24. Did anyone beat the final boss of Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles on solo mode? Attack, heal, attack, heal, etc. I would get to the third form and die in a matter of seconds. My guess is you need to have nothing but phoenix downs in your inventory, but who wants to spend hours collecting them? Maybe I needed to use a different race... Anyway, ouch.
  25. Willrock07, you may have submitted this already but I had a few thoughts on the track. To me, the synth that comes in for the first time around 0:35 feels a little rough. Maybe tie those notes together for something legato? Also, the soloing at 1:45 should be brought to the forefront. Its a little drowned right now. Finally, is it just me, or is it a little loud overall? That's all I have. It's a really good mix, even without changes. I look forward to the final, OCR version. Good luck!
