bluelighter reacted to Hashel05 in Final Fantasy IX Tribute Album [Looking for more Participants]
Hello guys!
I'm Hashel the founder and album organizer for the Pixel Mixers community!
We are now working on what should be our 23rd or 24th album (depending on how fast we work on stuff), a tribute to Final Fantasy IX.
(Current list of our albums so far => https://pixel-mixers.com/2018/04/08/pixel-mixers-albums-list/)
We do free stuff (so not licensed) and we already have someone for the art (Leo Mind Waker) and mastering (Ro Panuganti).
The goal would be to have at least one cover/remix by song from the original OST (songs from the OST+ are allowed but would end on a "bonus disc") but for that we'd need a bit of help
Here is the sheet, with tracklist on page 1 and rules on page 2, as you can see we got most of the songs claimed already (you may recognize some names from OCR and other communities)
=> https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13K3di3vP2FRzDdi68NoE7J6YwPEzKNJIeAlMZeOYNPM/edit?usp=sharing
The general rules are:
- Deadline: 31st of March (few more days will be allowed to let ppl polish their mix if needed, but we MUST release it in end of April / start of May)
- Songs must be 2 minutes long minimum (exception for the very short songs, like the sleeping jingle)
- Any music style is welcome, live recording or programmed VSTs. Just do not use anything from the game itself please
- You can go crazy creative with the arrangements as long as the original is still "easily" recognizable.
- Songs must be sent unmastered and with the speak set around -6db
Once all the songs from the main OST (you still can claim songs from the OST+ if the remaining songs from main OST do not inspire you and that duplicates are not allowed yet) is the will be claimed, we'll allow duplicates for ppl who are not already on the album and ppl who finished their 1st track (3 track maximum as main arranger but you an be a guest on as many tracks you want)
If you want to have an idea of what we do, here is the trailer of the FFVI album we did last year:
Okay so i hope i haven't forgot too many things, if you have any kind of questions, feel free to ask me, if you want to claim a song just tell me in here or private =)
Hope to see some of you making cool tracks
Thanks!

bluelighter got a reaction from chriskaudio in ff10 - Yuna's Decision (piano version)
Hi,
Here is a piano arrangement of Yuna's Decision of ff10.

The original music sounds peaceful and a little romantic; I wanted to keep this spirit
Enjoy !

bluelighter reacted to DimeTower in OCR03818 - Final Fantasy X "One Dream, One Destiny"
Man, do we need more pieces like this! An exploring, wide-ranged take on some of the core FF X themes that turns this into a remix that alternate depth with some moments of looking the storm in the eye and being unafraid in the gathering winds, then sitting down after and contemplating how you're still here. SUPER props for both the opening and closing, which carry all the feels. More pieces need to explore this kind of emotional range. A definite download!!

That's fantastic news, Jose! And Might I say, the trailer is looking quite fantastic. One of the best I've seen! But then again, I'm sorta biased here!
Good to know that the deadline is taken into account here, we would love to have it land (even if it is at the TAIL end of the year) within the 15th anniversary of the Legends release of the game in Japan. A good Christmas present for us all!

Alright, going to give all tracks one final listen through tonight! If all goes well, I'm going to submit the package to OCRemix and let the approval process do the rest!

GUESS WHAT Y'ALL?!
ALL tracks are now finished and turned in. Sure we got two remaining tracks to master, but the bigger point here is this: We have a FULL and COMPLETE 36 track, 3-disc album finished on our hands! Now is the time to finish up any last minute admin stuff, designing the website, working with OCR on trailer creation and setting a release date around Christmas of this year to hopefully still land within the 15th anniversary year of Skies of Arcadia: Legends release! To top it off, we are working with DJPretzel himself to see if we can get a limited run print of physical copies of this album! Every contributor will get about 2 copies (One for themselves and one to share), while the rest will be handed out as promos and prizes/gifts free at Magfest and other events that OCRemix attends. There won't be any other way to snag these puppies if you weren't contributing, so another reason to come out to these fantastic events and meet OCR staff in person in hopes that you might get one of these beauties. More words to follow on that part. I'm just jazzed that it's all done and now it is time to clean up and get this out there to you!

Great news everyone! Jason Covenant has finally agreed to take the last track: Gilder's Theme! With this, every single track has been claimed and we are already mastering the finished tracks and as of this posting, 4 are completed and marked finished! We are well on our way of making this huge album a reality hopefully sometime later this year! Get excited Arcadia fans!

bluelighter reacted to DimeTower in OCR03705 - Final Fantasy VII "The Call from the Mine"
Wow, this is just wonderful. This takes what is already a nice, interesting piece and makes it into a practical suite. The handling of 1:05-2:32 has such power, and then 2:33 on changes it into such an amazing, delicate touch! In short, this really explores the piece and delivers a top-notch handling of a less common piece. I'm really, really impressed by the quality of the remix here - well done!!

bluelighter reacted to nyKad in OCR03705 - Final Fantasy VII "The Call from the Mine"
THIS TRACK IS AMAZING. Unless you're actually allergic to piano, this is a must listen. In fact, it's cool, just stop reading right now and listen to it, my rambling will still be here when you're done.
I'm particularly in love with the choice of song, because everyone knows almost every single track in Final Fantasy VII has been remixed to hell and back… Well, maybe not hell, but the remixes spent some time with Sephiroth in the core of the planet. Of course that really speaks to how great of a soundtrack it is, but it's definitely refreshing to hear new material that hasn't really been done that often. Mining Town has been one of those pieces that has always stuck with me yet has relatively few remixes. Also, because who doesn't love nostalgia, before I even hit play, it really brought me back to playing through the game for the 1st time & all the events that take place there, especially Barrett's back story.
Back to this remix, however, it's those story moments that really seemed to inspire the remixer to have a very particular impact, especially in regards to the emotional tension. Particularly the section that winds things up starting at about the 1:25 mark, and really reaches fever pitch around 1:50. Contrasts the rest of the work beautifully and dynamically, especially when it returns to the delicate piano at 2 1/2 minutes or so. It's a great ride, backed by equally great arranging and work on the keys (to my untrained ears anyway). I daresay this easily ranks amongst the top tracks in this genre/style ever released on the website.

With the go ahead from @djpretzel, I waited until their OCRemix Panel was complete this past Saturday at MAGFest where they would premiere this exclusive preview of this album: Arcadia Legends! Now that the MAGFest panel is over, it is time to unveil the trailer to the rest of you who didn't make it to MAGFest this year! Hopefully you all enjoy the sneak peek soundbytes in this trailer and get hyped. For those who were on the fence of contributing to it, guess what? We still got a few more tracks left to claim! By all means, shoot us a note and we can get things started! We're almost to the end!
Kudos to my co-director Modus for building off the base trailer I had created and making a fantastic version of it!

bluelighter reacted to SampleScience in OCR03393 - Alex Kidd in Miracle World "A Kingdom Under the Sea"
Oh my, I remember playing Alex Kidd in Miracle Wold on the SMS when I was young. I actually remember this music! This remix is well done for sure.

bluelighter reacted to DimeTower in OCR03526 - Final Fantasy IX "March of Robbers in Treno City"
This may sound like a knock, but it's really not - the Dark City Treno theme was not one of my favorites from FF IX, a rarity in a soundtrack that I pretty much universally loved. I hope the remixer notes this reality as I am even MORE impressed with the quality of work here! I feel like I'm in some sort of celebratory parade, where the city is celebrating its 100th anniversary or something and everyone's off work the next day. The mix gets better as it goes along, and the last half really showcases some nice handling and adjustments to the main line. Bonus points for the cool ending.
I would never have thought to remix this song OR do it in this way - and it works! Congrats on a great tune!

bluelighter got a reaction from TheChargingRhino in OCR03201 - Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time "Storm Force Seven"
I loved the original melody! The arrangement is simple but efficient. I really like its particular rhythm, the harmony adaptation with bass line. And the piano in this odd time signature is really virtuoso

bluelighter reacted to mbm in OCR03393 - Alex Kidd in Miracle World "A Kingdom Under the Sea"
You should hear this song through my AKG's on the mullard tubes in my mini dot amp... /clap /applaud /blownaway - WONDERFUL ear candy and thank you for remixing one of my childhood fav's!

bluelighter reacted to Black_Doom in OCR03393 - Alex Kidd in Miracle World "A Kingdom Under the Sea"
Oh, c'mon, this remix deseves much more attention! Orchestra is not my favourite stuff, tbh, but when it's made right, it clicks SO HARD. This track is just awesome, seriously. I love how from cartoon-ish, carefree intro it evolves into something majestic, something solemn, simply epic, which makes me think about Venice for some reason (maybe because the arranged theme here is mostly "Swimming BGM"? ) and then it returns back to its playful beginning Sweet thing for sure!
P.S. All hail dat accordion!

bluelighter got a reaction from timaeus222 in OCR03473 - Remember Me & Deus Ex "Errorize"
I'm a big fan of the OST and it's great to hear a remix of it on OCR
The production level of the OST was yet awesome, with its good balance between orchestra and electro sounds. Timaeus got with this an interesting arrangement, with powerful electro sounds! Difficult to recognize at a first listening, but now I well hear “Nilin the Memory Hunter”.
Where is “fragments” theme? I don’t see this on the breakdown.
I hope hear more from “Remember Me” on OCR

bluelighter reacted to djpretzel in Final Fantasy III: Resurrection - Wrapping Up (Sign Consent Form!)
It'd be weird NOT to wish the album well... so I do as well And I hope many artists choose to submit their arrangements here.
An email will be forthcoming on the logistics of all of this.
