  1. After a few listens my overall feeling about this track is that it feels a bit 'thin'. As mentioned by a few people above this is mostly due to the treble being turned up 11, but it's also the bit-crushed percussion along with the sound effects. The arrangement itself is excellent and the actual usage of the FX is very well done; however overall I don't really like this track myself.
  2. Oh man, I love the drum track on this but at the same time can't quite get past the mechanicalness of it; as Brandon said above if the velocities had been humanised more it would have helped intensely. The guitar work is immense and wonderful, amazing chugging with fantastic leads. The tempo changes keeps things from getting repetitive (occasionally an issue when it comes to metal instrumentals). I agree with nitrozsz that the ending is a bit abrupt.
  3. Seeing as my son is currently obsessed with Power Rangers (and considering I still used to watch it myself as an adult child) this immediately put me in mind of one of the rockier, more upbeat theme tunes that the show has used before. Production-wise this is completely on the nose with it's happy, poppy "let's fight evil with teamwork and bloody huge robots" vibe. The guitar work, drums and synth additions all mesh well together with nothing overpowering anything else and it wouldn't have surprised me in the slightest if someone had started singing "Go Go Power Rangers" at any point in this track
  4. The Rave is strong in this one, oh my yes. I like the juxtaposition between the "PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR AND GIVE ME A HELL YEAH" dance parts and the darker, more sombre breakdowns. Everything flows together very well and the beat never really seems to go away, even when it actually does go away. The instrumentation itself is incredibly well done, especially considering how much this track has going on throughout its runtime.
  5. This is very much a track of many parts, and while that's something I quite enjoy I can see why some may not get along very well with it. I think the main issue may be that there's no overarching theme that keeps everything together; it's very much Running to the Beat Part 1 to Part 2 to Part 3 etc. Each part in itself is very well produced and is highly enjoyable, it just feels like a few different short tracks with transition FX in between them at times. But just to reiterate; it is very enjoyable
  6. Right from the start the instrumentation in this is amazing. The female 'aaaah' sounds a little stilted at times, though nothing too major. The vocal work overall is excellent and fits the music perfectly, however at times it does seem to dip a little and gets drowned out the slightest bit. As I said before though the instrumentation is amazing; everything fits together perfectly and nothing overrides anything else. Overall a fantastic remix.
  7. I love the way this track builds from a rather atmospheric pad layer to percussive bass to full-on wubwub mode. The overall soundscape is very lively with new FX being introduced steadily until the main melody comes in. The breakdown brings the atmospheric feel back in before a well arranged bridge takes us back into the beat proper. The outro may have hung around for perhaps a little too long but that's most likely just personal preference. Overall a solid electro track.
  8. This track could be slipped into any premier DJ's playlist and not a single person listening would be able to tell it was the product of a videogame remix.[citation needed] The drums are levelled perfectly and don't detract from the melodies (always a pitfall for dance-style tracks), and the military-style snare pattern is inspired. The choice of synths and pads is perfect, I can't find fault anywhere with this mix.
  9. I do love a piano intro, the excellent addition of the clean guitar makes this an amazing way to start the track. I'm not a huge fan of the synth addition throughout the song, however I can see why it's necessary. The drum sound is very well handled with everything balanced out nicely. Love the guitar solo at 03:18
  10. Love the intro, excellent way to set the mood. The overall drum sound I found to be little too quiet but it doesn't detract from the mix. The strings are a little on the synthetic side at times but I actually quite like this aspect as it sets off the guitar tone nicely. The breakdown at around 02:10 is a particular highlight.
  11. Maybe come to some agreement with VGMusic.com so that a link to a MIDI file (if there is one) could be included in the mixpost. Admittedly it's not an ideal situation (the listener would have to download the MIDI then manually play it themselves) but it might be useful as an interim while the whole YouTube thing is being worked out.
  12. How have I only just seen this! I wonder if I can get 50 reviews out before midnight tonight EDIT 1: So 6 hours later and I'm at 34 (I think, everything has gone blurry...) They may be the most detailed or concise (or cohesive or in English or...) but I've tried to make each one at least 3 or 4 sentences long with some positives and some negatives. I'm going to try for the remaining 16 before midnight (children, family and New Years Eve parties permitting). Wish me luck! EDIT 2: OK so the allure of free food and alcohol got the better of me so I didn't manage to get to 50. Still; doing review has been quite enjoyable so I'm going to carry on regardless. Happy 2016 everybody!
  13. I've got a WIP in progress for this but I don't think I'll get it finished in time. I'll post up whatever I've got but it will most likely not be a finished product!
  14. There's going to be an almighty booze-up in the afterlife today. RIP Mr Kilmister.
  15. Esperado went on the charm offensive and got me to sign up, though I should point out that I have ZERO history with the Castlevania series so I'll be picking my sources at random Bloody Tears (Castlevania Bloodlines) <--- Genesis version, not sure if that makes a difference! Silent Madness (Castlevania 64) Floating Garden (Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow) Stage 7 (Super Castlevania IV)
  16. shadowpsyc picked the track but also transcribed it (from what I can tell from his post above). Based on that I think we can give him a pass on a few wrong notes
  17. Oh the old heart-string are being tugged with this one. This is perfect, simple as that. This will be living on my MP3 player for quite a long time I think.
  18. So as this is MnP instead of PRC do we have to choose a single source and go with it or are you allowing mashups for this round?
  19. Don't judge me, OK? I had something like an hour to put this together and IT SHOWS. But it was fun though
  20. Hey Darke; any kind of ETA for scores on this thing? People need closure, dammit!
  21. Trism Hilf Dir (Tunnel Rhino in Sigma Stage 2 [X3]) Splash Supafly (Splash Warfly in Sigma Stage 2 [X3]) Madness, Exploration, and Pointed Beaks (Storm Eagle in Sigma Stage 2 [X3]) Wily's Rejects
  22. *Psssst!* There's a YouTube video here for it!
