  1. God I love this game and its soundtrack. I'd definitely put Price of Freedom on my to-do list if remixing music I love was the sole criteria. The thing is.....I can't imagine anything better so I wouldn't even attempt it. Perhaps some talented soul will blow our minds in the near future
  2. I started working on it when round 2 began. I was considering following the compo as though I'd managed to stay in and do a mix each week but unfortunately other stuff got in the way In honesty, I reckon I would've failed hard as I've found Starlight Zone really difficult to meld into other melodies and keys whilst retaining its character, but hey ho! All good fun Thanks for the encouraging feedback. It definitely gives me motivation to finish this one up. Here's a mini update, its the last until I finish the arrangement Remix: Link removed
  3. I wasn't sure about posting this, but then workshop forums are for gettin' feedback on WIPS so voila: Remix: Removed - see latest post Source: I've spent no time on the production but I've done what I can to give a good impression of what is to come. To do: Re-record guitar parts and record the other missing ones General Mixing/EQ Sort out some of the parts towards the end as some of the rhythms conflict with each other quite badly. Refine the drum parts and mix them properly Finish off the actual arrangement...I'm about half way through completing the structure. The sonic remix comp really got me in the mood for some classic sonic tunes. I'd forgotton how awesome Lava Reef is, so thought I'd give it a bash. Also I've been getting withdrawl from remixing. Too many things have been getting in the way and its been a while since I focused on anything of my own so I hope you enjoy. Feedback is really appreciated as I'm always bound to miss something. I'll be extra appreciative for feedback now as I had to replace my amp for my speakers so am having to re-learn those
  4. Two of my weaknesses in one glorious piece of awesome (cello and ducktales)
  5. This is uber-cool. Shame on no-one else having posted yet to state as such!
  6. Just had a quick listen. I can really hear what you're going for. The arrangement would definitely work in a rock/metal style but you really need to get some real guitar in there. There isn't really a substitute. If you can't get a guitarist or are unable to record it yourself, ShreddageX is definitely the perfect choice (okay, there is a substitute). The lead definitely needs to be something thicker and fatter. Its kinda just there and not really drawing the listeners attention. The drums for metal and rock (more specifically the snare and bass drum) need to be heavy and kinda in ya' face. Its good stuff, you just need to up the sample quality/EQ some more
  7. My fave from it : Its a cover from the original contra but......its ....just AMAZING. Its an unlockable in the game I believe.
  8. Really enjoyed the preview tracks. Gonna have to spend my hard earnt pennies methinks!
  9. Played the demo and really liked the intro and intro song. It was a mildly entertaining game (though can't say much as it was only the demo). The thing was, it just made me wanna play Probotector/Contra on the NES, so thats what I did
  10. Votes all done! Very different mixes to the Sonic bracket, but equally great I'm putting my vote for Chernabogue here: Chernabogue. You played on the catchiness of Mystic Cave perfectly hehe Woop! Glad you managed to get somethin' submitted. Need more musics to listen to
  11. Just posting to say that I really enjoyed the video. Sooo enjoyable. Thank you for sharing and looking forward to your next video P.s: Nice buster sword btw!
  12. I've been listening to Project Chaos again this last week and damn, I just love this track. Have to say, though, that I really enjoy all of Snappleman's mixes on on the album. The arrangements perfectly balance between keeping the original and embellishing to heighten the original's awesomeness. When I can one day rock as good as this, I'll die happy! - Also, +1 to everything DusK said
  13. Thanks for the encouraging words. If I have the time you bet I'll be participating. Whether it be Sonic or Mega Man, I'll be back!!! Hopefully Sir Nuts will submit his entry just for us to listen to anyway (and Blackpanther). Still a shame though. Just downloading the mixes now and am excited to hear the results of you badniks' work.
  14. Aw, RIP Starlight Zone. Time for the tide to merge with the lava. Congrats to all the winners. And don't you worry, I'll be back next time to kick some serious butt!!!
  15. Dude! Talk about an epic matchup. That was really enjoyable. Congrats and definitely a deserved win. Until we battle again ;)

  16. Definitely agree with you. I'm so glad that it has been neck and neck as it makes it satisfying for both competitors All matchups were difficult to vote on Amphibious and Hakstock to name but one was really difficult for me.
  17. Haha, you're not the only ones! I need to take some deep breaths!
  18. Yeah, I was wondering about draws. Perhaps both mixers have to collaborate in the next round? lol. Not gonna have to worry anywho. Woo for Akumajobelmont
  19. This is tense. 15 mins to go and Robbie and I are drawing by my counts Edit: Robbie's edged into the lead!!
  20. Awesome source choice. Basically, Gario hit the nail on the head with his feedback. The rhythm guitars could definitely be tamed more (filtered). Also, if you're double-tracking the guitars, less distortion can actually give you a clearer sound whilst remaining heavy. Getting the balance of the drums and guitar will sort out the pumping/overcompression. The snare sounds great but is far too isolated and removed from the rest of the track. Getting the guitars under control will really do wonders by being able to have the snare at a lower level but still cutting through. The lead that does play, is far too buried beneath the rhythm guitars. To summarise: Ease up on the distortion a lil bit Tame the guitars more with some EQ and filtering Lower the snare, also perhaps reduce the reverb a bit or shorten the tail Arrangement needs more going on if its not gonna be a cover This is a really great start and really hope to hear you build and improve on this. Even if you completely disregard my feedback, it'll hopefully get you thinkin' about it what you can do to refine the mix/arrangement
  21. Its such a shame that the balance issues can't be resolved as this is a great mix. If the balance was altered this could easily go to being an AMAZING mix. Definitely agreeing with BONKERS here. Also, the breakdown could really have done with having something to keep some of the momentum going BUT this is really great. Mega Beardo clearly has a lot of skill. I'm really looking forward to hearing some more of his tunes.
  22. Oo, definitely an interesting project! Once I've worked through my current commitments I'll have a go at claiming a track as there is never enough 90's Sega love!! All the best with recruitment
