I also make my own beats and rarely use loops. And if I do I'm usually chopping them up and rearranging them. I don't work that often with acoustic drums but I think having the session drummer only provides me with more options.

I too am hoping to jump on the Logic X train pretty soon. I'm sad about the non 32-bit support thing because I've got some really cool freebee plugins that won't work anymore. I either need to learn how to cope without said plugins or use logic 9 when I need those plugins, bounce, then import into Logic X... but that's a pain in the butt really. Anyway I'll be buying it soon and I'm happy to see some nice little improvements (the arpeggiator for instance, it's about time!). And yes, it looks sexy doesn't it?

First off.... HAHAAHHAHAH BRANDON YOUR FREAKIN SIGNATURE PIC HAHAHAHAH!!!!!! Anyway, onward to civ 5... I don't have much to say other than I've watched my friends play this (they're freakin hooked on it), and I gotta be honest, I think it looks boring. Just seems slow paced, but it's probably just my preference.

Hey SuperiorX! Thanks for the comment man. You've pretty much nailed was I was going for. I understand the track might seem somewhat repetitive, but it's sort of meant to be like that and create a mood and play in the background. All that extra stuff and little changes like you said are totally there to help keep the listener interested, or at least tune back in to notice and go "hey, I really like this." I appreciate the listen man. Cheers! -

So I've just got into LoL, and I do have a background in original DotA. I'm level 12 right now and am working on getting good with Nocturne. Before him I bought Anivia and also played some vladimir... If anyone is around my level and would like to play just let me know and I can add you -
So i haven't been following what's been discussed in this thread... but I'm curious if anyone can recommend any rpg let's plays right now, or perhaps recommend a favourite LPer of theirs... I haven't watched a good LP in a while and I'd like to get back into it. I find it relaxing when I get home from school to kick back and watch a good commentary of a cool game that perhaps I'll pick up in the near future. Cheers!

It's about dang time they put Megaman in!!! I just wonder if the game will play as fast as Melee... that's where the real pro players are

Not sure about FF XV but I think I'm going to try FFXIV: A Realm Reborn when it releases the end of August... it will be my first Final Fantasy game I've ever played... unless of course anyone can suggest an older FF game I should play without having to buy an old console... Anyway, more on topic, I don't see a FF XV release when the rebooted FF XIV is still 3 months away...

I thoroughly enjoyed the film, and I'm not sure if it's possible but I hope it ends up being like the James Bond films where they can keep making new ones every 2 - 3 years. That's just how much I enjoyed this movie. I love Star Trek. And I want more. That's all I can say

Hey guys, Just made this quick little tutorial to show how I get my bass sounding nice and wide, while at the same time keeping it tight and clean so as to not muddy up the rest of your mix. I'm using an example from a recent Marble Garden Zone (Sonic 3) remaster I did. Hope you find it helpful! Feel free to comment or offer feedback so I can improve these tutorials. Thanks!

Hey guys, It's been a long time since I've worked on any remixes, I think since last year when I participated in the Sonic Zone Remix Comp... so I decided it's time to get back into video game music and figured an easy remaster is where I should start. I know it's not a remix but I had to start easy to get me back in the... groove? Anyway, the main point of this was to work on my ear training (as this is not a midi rip, but rather I listened to the original and picked out each part by ear), and also to work on my production skills. One of my next goals is to work on a remix and submit it to the judges, and I think I'm about ready to do that. Any comments or feedback production-wise is most welcome, and I really appreciate the time you take to listen. Cheers, Syllix

Hey guys, This is my last upload to youtube for a while, as I'll be starting school soon (yay for audio engineering!). Hope you enjoy it and I hope to be back making updates as often as I can, either my own music, or hopefully some remastered or remixed video game music (I still plan on submitting something, in due time). Cheers, ~Syllix

Ryan Jobson replied to Ryan Jobson's topic in Post Your Original Music!
Hi Mark, Very glad you enjoyed it. -
Hey guys, Thought I'd share with you another collaboration between ASB and myself. This one's called "Stark" and it consists of field recordings and minimal ambient drones. Hope you enjoy this! Works well for background / study music

Hey guys, I've always been an MMO fan and recently heard about this Neverwinter game coming out soon, and it's going to be free to play. I was just curious if anyone's going to be playing it or if you wanted to share any thoughts on it. Cheers

Transitioning into a professional musician
Ryan Jobson replied to The Legendary Zoltan's topic in General Discussion
Very happy to hear of the good news coming in, and I hope it keeps coming. I'm following a similar path, having quit my marketing job to go to school for audio engineering and continue making music and doing other projects on the side. The only advice I can give you is: feel the fear, and do it anyway. There are no wrong decisions. Any path you take will be a learning experience. The important thing is to act, and not hesitate. If you aren't happy with how things are going, change it. No one else is going to do it for you. Best of luck -
