  1. Great take on a good theme. Lots of fresh ideas and improvisation around the source. Searching for Friends sounds alright, but somehow doesn't have the same charm. Great playing regardless and a good arrangement overall.
  2. Wow, such a melancholic title for a mix with enough funk to be on a Donkey Kong OST. Searching for Friends sounds nice here. I don't think I will ever hear Celes this happy again. The style shift is nearly disorienting and that's the cool thing about this mix; it works somehow.
  3. Was scratching my head until the choir came in (good atmosphere choice). Unfortunately, the arrangement remains basic and unexciting. The potential is definitely there; it just feels like there is a lot of empty space. I guess this is fine for old OCR, but there's too little for too long IMO.
  4. I did not expect hip-hop to fit the source this well (nice drums). The 0:53 lead sounds especially great. Gotta agree with Timaeus on the repetition though. The originality that is here is sweet; it would be great to hear a revamped version.
  5. Stupid ads interrupted that gorgeous synth only 15 seconds in. Great piano too, tranquil yet somber. The atmosphere is so good, I hit download before the 2 minute mark. Oh, those strings are niiiiccce. Looks like the source is for a ship. I can totally see it, sitting outside a cabin at night while the ship floats through gentle currents.
  6. Wasn't really feeling the cello in the intro, but the electronic entrance was pretty cool. Around 1:44 is pretty nice; The incorporation of strings back into the electronica was sweet, really cool how the lead and cello interact. It reminds me of forbidden love for some reason. Good stuff, an interesting mix.
  7. I'm surprised at how well the koto fits the dance backing. Speaking of the backing, nice reverb; the mix has a nice atmospheric space sitting just behind the front stuff. IDK the source, but it sounds good from here. Another fun Persona mix. I also find the outro quite catchy for some reason.
  8. Catchy little number. For some reason, I was inspired to say that after hearing the main melody. The fake sax fits well and I like the arp backing it up a lot, really dreamy. Fun stuff, wish it was longer. Slightly off subject, I've been playing P3P for 11 of the last 21 hours and that OST is killer.
  9. Sir Jordanius and some rap vocals? And, as thought, totally unique. I'm not too fond of the vocals, but the instrumental backing is great. It's sunshine-like.
  10. I'm not really into the intro synth, but it's probably an IMO thing. I like the drum loop; nice energy. The buildup was a bit overwhelming, again an IMO thing. I like the reverbed synth; it brings some atmosphere. The sample sounds like a TED talk for some reason. Maybe it's par for the genre, but I feel like this is about a minute too long. It's decent.
  11. I like the riff around 1:00. 2:10 is also pretty cool. The guitar solo is right on. Nice metal mix, not a lot to say except for \-/ (-_-) \_/
  12. I found the hi-hat in the intro quite groovy for some reason. Nice buildup; it keeps things interesting for a while. Can't say I really felt the "dubstep" in this. Not that you have to slam the speakers with FM bass, but the synths in question felt a bit weak. However, they work fine in the downtempo context of the song. Pretty good mix overall.
  13. The intro is nice, but the wait for the impact is a bit too long (for the song; I like CotMM after all). When the beat really does drop, I found myslef wanting more until the pulsing pads came in. The sax was a nice touch, blending with the mix while giving it plenty of room. As opposed to screaming "THE SAX IS HERE, EVERYONE!". Can't say this is my type of DnB though.
  14. SICK guitar playing. Great take on a well-known source. Sounds like an evening in Zeal just sitting on a hill, probably cause the backing is great too. I know nothing about guitar playing, but the improvisation and playing here is just awesome.
  15. Sweet sampling! Gotta agree with Timaeus; that section feels empty. Afterwards is some nice stuff though. 3:21 is a nice impact. The bass is definitely prominent, but I like the tone it lends to the mix. Definitely a bit experimental like DJP said, but pretty solid.
  16. Xylophone! I like how this feels like a real orchestral-rock hybrid instead of a rock mix that tries to force some strings in. That run in the guitar solo is sick. Solid stuff. Good to be done with finals.
  17. Kind of a strange mix IMO. Synth at 1:03 is just too loud. The stab later on has the same problem. Can't say I like it; it just feels awkward.
  18. Really good growls. The chant at the beginning was funny. The guitar solo is pretty cool and I also like the clean synth sitting alongside the distorted mix. \-/ What is with the recorder solo... or even having one in the first place.
  19. Wow. I would be well past 100 if it wasn't finals week.
  20. Didn't really get it until the arp came in and the piano brought the picture to mind. The climax is nice, but lacks a lot of real drive beyond the kick. Also, maybe it's because I'm familiar with the source, but the piano feature afterwards was boring for being too conservative; it sounded like MIDI replacement. Some variation in the second "drop" would be nice. The samples are definitely not hiding their age one bit. Promising, but basic and clearly old.
  21. Aaaaaaaaand another favorite I never left feedback on. One of my favorite VGM tunes and the transition from acoustic (+rain) to electronic is just awesome. Also, the original melodic work is great. Great mix, one I've been listening to for a few years now. Would love to see bLiNd try this track.
  22. A slap bass break? ok. Simpler for him, but groovy. I agree with DJP about the bass, nice and sharp. The repeated rises were interesting, added some tension. Pretty solid.
  23. 3 days... Christ. I agree that there is a lot going on here, lots of great cross-genre stuff and glitching to boot. Yeah, it's a shorter mix, but still. 3 days. Even without that, nice work.
  24. I like the lead that comes in at 1:50; it sounds just right for its melody too. The complextro-like stuff afterwards was cool too. Overall, I like the use of arps; it gives the song a nice rhythmic feel. The dropout is pretty sick. Good EDM mix.
