  1. I never reviewed this? It's a stellar melting pot of a mix; 1:05 always gets me. Also, the gorgeous intro totally brings the image of standing on a cliff at sunset to mind. Guitar solo is great, guitar harmony part is great, and the atmosphere is excellently somber. Great stuff.
  2. Great atmosphere in the intro (meaning all the way up until the 4 on the floor). Speaking of the kick, I love how its bassy frequency gives it an impact while leaving lots of room for the synth. Pretty sick stuff, the desolate vibe is pulled off really well. Listening to the OST, this source surprised me for being so downbeat; previously, DKC only made me think percussion and swing rhythms. Sweet mix.
  3. Good job balancing the atmosphere and details with the club-friendly elements. The beat is definitely Zircon-esque and gives the mix a nice energy. Solid EDM mix.
  4. I like the percussion-driven style, but that may be because I play. I like the tense atmosphere after the intro subsides and how it leads into heavier source usage. The extended percussion section is pretty fun too. Nice work.
  5. Well-done ambient intro; tension is definitely established. The transitions to the bass and kick feel natural, making the somewhat simple loop entertaining. 4:17 lead is pretty weak. The next section broke my worry of this mix not being intense enough, but I wish it was longer for proportion reasons. Nice outro though.
  6. Should get to 200. How do we get the prizes? Do we just confirm our review history anytime or does it come at the end of the month?
  7. Nice, fat bass. Sweet drum writing, although I am a bit tired of the amen break after having listened to earlier Squarepusher (look him up for some truly insane mangling). That whistle synth is nice, but the following lead is great. Nice phasing on the break afterwards. I also like how all the glitching and intensity works with a nice atmosphere going on in the background. Some good stuff.
  8. .... Good arrangement, lots of good playing to keep things interesting despite a lack of changes... until the unexpected 2nd vocal section comes in. ... Good solo.
  9. I feel like the violin doesn't really fit in this mix. It just doesn't mesh well with the other instruments IMO. Everything else sounds great though. The transition to Life in the Mines is sick. The guitar solo works well as a final blow. I wish there was more from Life, but good mix.
  10. The reverbed hits in the intro are nice and that is a fat kick. I also like the arp-like delay (and the arp itslef later on). The synth at 4:15 or so is also nice. After hearing some of his other stuff, this mix seems somewhat scaled down, but it's the oldest one, so whatever. Decent mix.
  11. A nice, cohesive mix with a lot of elements that work together. The strings could have easily sounded out of place, but didn't. Also, the solo at 3:20; good stuff. Very good mix.
  12. I agree with Zircon; those drums sound great in tone and writing. The clean solo has me a bit weirded out, but the rest is solid metal.
  13. The distortion is too much; it ruins the atmosphere of the intro. Interesting how things feel mellow while the drums and bass jam out. Then we get to the tom work and things get funky. I also like just how calm the outro is. Solid mix.
  14. Wah wah wah wah. Sounds great. Conservative, but in a good way; also just a bit funky. Nice work.
  15. I saw the artist lineup, yet the mix still caught me off-guard. Great stuff, reminds me joke music can use vocals too (guilty of many joke tracks). Novelty aside, some great vocal performances and a fun backing.
  16. The bass is a great foundation for the rest of the track. When things shift, the sidechained synth does a nice job too. I like the force behind the 2:08 section; nice and solid. Good mix.
  17. Sweet stuff, the drums groovy. Great instrumentation choices; there is a lot of fun noise here. Great job working with the melody, just stellar. The slowdown after the frantic accelerando was very nice. Awesome mix.
  18. The flute sounds great; it fits the melody really well. The backing is solid, nothing too exciting. The oboe also sounds good. As OA said, the piano brings Dale North to mind, which is good. Solid mix.
  19. Wow, great combination of sounds; I especially like how the marimba-like synth fits in. The vocal chopping is a nice shift for the track, unexpected but pleasant. The glitching in general is well-executed and reminds me of Zircon. Haunting and psychedelic mix.
  20. Nice atmosphere in the intro. I particularly like the cymbal-ish sound. I'm not fond of the hand drums though. The vocals, on the other hand, are awesome. They really glue everything together and complete the mood of the track.
  21. Wow, the production is nice for how old it is. I like how dynamic everything is; it sounds live. The piano fades out too fast and the mix is too short. Oh well, good work.
  22. I didn't really feel how the noisy intro related to the rest of the track. The mood and use of electric guitar works and makes the tune sound quite tranquil (particularly around the 2 minute mark). Short and sweet.
  23. It's... calm EDM? I guess it's hard to do something really fist-pumping with this source. It's different in a good way though. It's pretty standard in arrangement and too conservative, but decent overall.
  24. Any style welcome (good luck with funeral doom though).
