I think I'm gonna suggest the same thing I did in the PS2 thread...look it up on Gamerankings.com. Just for convenience, here's the top 30: 1. Super Mario World 2. Super Mario Bros. 3 3. And now the mods have another forum to moderate.

Not to be confused with a junior rectal... This took place in February of 2006. It also just so happened that an UnMod meetup was taking place on the same day, so they all decided to pay me a visit and shout "NICE WORK" at the end of the recital. Then I went to play Guitar Hero with everyone and watch them create Captain Fop in Soul Calibur III. Definitely a night to remember. What? Oh right, the recital! So yeah, here are the MP3s...about an hour of total piano-playing, mistakes, sweat, tears, blood, and some applause thrown in for good measure. It's mixed a bit low, so you'll have to turn your speakers up some. In general though, it's pretty good music for falling asleep to in my opinion. Enjoy. Partita No. 2, BWV 826 .................................................. Johann Sebastian Bach Sinfonia Allemande Courante Sarabande Rondeaux Capriccio Sonata No. 17, Opus 31 No. 2 .......................................... Ludwig van Beethoven Largo-Allegro Adagio Allegretto Suite Pour le Piano ........................................................ Claude Debussy Prelude Sarabande Toccata (P.S. For anyone too lazy to download the files individually, here's the entire recital.)

Sirlin's site is old, but still great. Other "gameology" sites you might wanna check out are www.raphkoster.com and the Daedelus Project.

Good non-Nintendo/Rare Nintendo 64 Soundtracks
Dhsu replied to Decoy Octopus's topic in General Discussion
Bomberman 2 is also a Mitsuda soundtrack. I remember Paper Mario having a pretty decent soundtrack though. -
I think for your purposes, header files aren't really necessary. You can just put the prototypes at the top of the program.

OCRA-0008 - Sonic 3 & Knuckles: Project Chaos

animated GIFs plz -
The way I see it, there'll finally be a PC port that doesn't look absolutely terrible, since it's already designed with HD in mind. Sure, the controls will probably be keyboard-only again, but just hook up a 360 gamepad and nobody will be the wiser.

OCR01563 - Max Payne "Tragedy of a Bullet"
Dhsu replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I'm kind of wondering if you guys are listening to the same song I am...this is the first track on OCR that has actually caught my attention in a long time. Keep doing what you're doing, Neil, because it's working. -
So this is a "list good PS2 games" thread? I mean, there's kind of a lot of them... I suggest just going to Gamerankings and checking out the top 100 or so. That should get you started.
-
Not really, I was just the person who suggested it.
-
2006 was definitely an awesome year. Shame 2007 had to start on such a downer.
-
I think it was actually, along with the suggestion to make the project title and website loosely connected to the then-upcoming AC release.

I'm just highlighting the fact that most gamers seem to cite MGS2 as a work of art due to its complicated plot and cinematic presentation, but neither of those elements are really all that extraordinary in quality outside of the world of video games.
-
Well, bgc, I think the issue here is the "high" or "fine" art distinction, like Leah mentioned. And Evilhead already addressed your "art" vs. "product" rant. Anyway, I've been thinking...a lot of people have cited Ico and Okami as "art" games, and I tend to agree, but I have to ask...what exactly makes them art? Sure, they have very pretty and stylized graphics, but that's purely the visual aspect. What about the other elements? Ico's gameplay is nothing revolutionary...you solve puzzles and fight things with a stick. And Okami? If you take away the cel-shading, what's left? Would people still call it art? It makes you wonder, is a game artistic value entirely dependent on the style and quality of its visual presentation? If you slapped cubist graphics on Super Mario Bros., would it be hailed by reviewers as avant-garde and innovative? "Boundish" for the GBA is nothing but a stylized version of "Pong" but a lot of people would call it an art game. As for MGS2...it's an excellent game, but if it were made into an actual film, I'll bet you that not one serious moviegoer would even mention the word "art" in a review. If you ignore the fact that it's a video game, it's just another cheesy action movie with a lot of unnecessary extra twists.

I lol'd. Happy b-day, B-unit.
