  1. Hah! It's rare that the release time of trailer/album gets posted like that. Usually cause things can change and you never know what can happen so they don't publish dates too often, but its refreshing to see it here, must mean the album/release package is pretty solid. Looking forward to
  2. Congrats on the book release. I would poop emoji the hell out of your book and post if it was possible to do that in real life. Ain't nobody going to pay $18 for your paperback! I wouldn't even pay that much for a Dean Koontz or Stephen King or John Grisham or Whoever-wrote-50-shades-of-gray paperback. And I doubt your book is on the same level of eroticism as 50 shades of gray. Probably more like "a few shades of white", not to get too controversial, but to express the missionary position-esque excitement expressed by your book of scary tales. I dunno, I'm just being silly, because you're always silly. But I'll never be able to match your silliness. Post when the 99 cent Kindle Edition is released
  3. Not all projects will be finished... A small few could be abandoned. Honestly I'd like to see some fresh big projects started instead of stringing along old dead ones. But if there's potential to release some of the old ones that'd be good if the music aged well. What I'd personally like to see -- more albums that start with a small tracklist (maybe 5 required songs) but allow people to claim other things based on their interest in other sources. This would keep albums from getting too large, and make sure if someone claims something it's because they put in the effort or were familiar with it to know what it was. I'd like to see a Star Ocean album done this way (small, but covering all the games) A NieR album, RPG Themes album (main themes from RPGs) Indie album (covering great songs from games like Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, Transistor, etc) I think this is a thing that should be done, and trying to save older projects isn't a justifiable reason to not do new stuff like this.. not to say we should outright abandon them all, but those involved should do their part to finish off the existing ones.. For example I still need to send Level99 a finished WAV for my Vroom track and I intend to do that.
  4. I've been so hyped about NieR: Automata coming out this year, that I wanted to make a thread for it, so I searched and found out that I already did. I am SO EXCITED for this game. It's my most anticipated game of 2016. All purely based on having played the first NIER. What an awesome art style, amazing music, very unique director and artists all working on such a labor of love. It is going to be such a great year for gaming topped off by NieR: Automata.
  5. There's still 2 days left in February! It can still happen! There'snotraileronlineyetbutthatneverstoppedanyone! BANKING ON THAT LEAP YEAR
  6. Very tl;dr thread but I read enough to see Cubase recommended I third (or fourth, or however many) the recommendation for Cubase. My laptop is a 2.5GHz with 8gb ram, 64-bit of course.. Windows 8.1 right now. Nothing fancy. No pops with Cubase and I use an ASIO driver that keeps my input/output latency waaaay way low. Just basic ASIO 4 ALL v2 that you should have in FL Studio is what I use with Cubase. It also works well with Generic ASIO driver. 512ms sample buffer or less. If FL Studio can't offer you the same then I'd say stomp on. I never thought FL Studio was particularly efficient. Does it even have 64bit version yet? Last time I used it, it was still 32-bit... producer 11 or something.. crazy. You might get more mileage out of Reaper and you could try that for free. Ok I read up a little. Damn, if I was looking for help with fruity loops and fl users responded like that, I'd jump ship too.
  7. Awkward.... That is not so easy to enforce or brush things to the side...sorry if you saw my previous response I don't mean to imply anything. Anyone who claimed something would be dedicated enough I suppose. Though my personal wish is that people want to work on this because they loved the game/music, and not so much just because it's an OCR album! Second apology: The scope for Overture is very high. It's not quite open for claims unless that claim matches the very high (professional level) that is expected for it.. I'm going to mark it as reserved until said opportunity arises.
  8. It sounds too similar to be a coincidence, and if I was a composer lifting parts of a song from another country not expecting anyone ever to notice, I'd probably brush it off as saying "I never heard of that song before". But between the performance and the structural similarities I dunno. There's parts of the arrangement that make it sound really obvious that the composer had heard "When Worlds Collide"
  9. We can set a WIP date for April 15th, how does that sound?
  10. Excited to hear some WIPs. Hoping some of the remixers just send their finished songs to make it a little easier. Wahhh this is really exciting. Couldn't have dreamed of a better result for the FF8 album with all these people involved, way back in 2010 when I was first thinking of this idea I had no idea it could be such a big deal some day. Interested in an art style for the artwork. Hoping for something very good. We've been lucky with the art for FF1/FF2, but I'd like to get something from a different artist with a different style, though with quality just as high. I also like the idea of composite art that mixes real-world photography with digitally painted or 3D modeled assets.
  11. http://www.gamespot.com/articles/final-fantasy-14-song-claimed-as-unimaginative-the/1100-6435111/ Someone got caught copying a song I just wanted to make that joke in the thread title though, but it's interesting. The world of Final Fantasy collides with the once popular song from the 90s and the band everyone forgot about! It is just really funny to me that they could actually get away with making such a similar song for FF14, claim "no I've never heard of the song before"... meanwhile in America, pretty much everyone has heard it. We've had it forced upon us, like broccoli. What are your thoughts though? Unlikely coincidence, or straight up theft?
  12. Though I feel like there could be a hidden bonus, sorta like Nine-Toes from Borderlands Funny story, my dad said "One more and he walks!" I had no idea what he meant, Took a while to get it. Baseball humor.
  13. Gilgamesh has 8 arms but how many legs does he have? Just curious... Wait, wouldn't you pick 4 people if it was 8 arms? Or each person is more like a branch? I just went and had to bring math into this.
  14. Mine stayed at 7. I'm calling bullshit Tho I realize now Hakstock just wanted to be closer to me on the ranking But seriously, a whole 10 votes? And no change? They should have just left it as it was instead of having anyone question the results.. I mean that's all DoD has left is the results, and now that those are questionable.. blah
  15. I'm on board for being a third wheel, or an 8th arm, or what have you Though the other people you listed are probably better "soloists". But I can play bass and Sixto sold his. /winning I don't know what your plans are, but I wouldn't mind tackling a similar mix on my own. Orchestrated rock. If you're going for "fire", maybe something fitting.
  16. This can still come out in February! There's 5 days left!
  17. Seriously though, the first rule I told you was not to talk about it!!
  18. I dunno it's pretty damn efficient and cost-effective if everyone just visits me instead of me going to MAG
  19. It's an interesting question, nobody is going to say "no", but it doesn't matter too much and here's why. TV is run by ratings, and even if there were a very highly rated show about VGM it would either be on cable so you'd have to pay extra, HBO or similar so you'd have to pay extra extra, or if it was just featured as background music in an existing show it'd be kinda dumb IMO. You'd be watching Keeping up with the Kardashians and Song of Storms would come on and you'd be like WTF? What did they do to my Childhood? Radio, there's only so many frequencies, but oddly a lot of them are taken up by classic rock, a couple classical, and then "dance music" channels.. and a couple country. While I think VGM is good, diverse enough to justify its own channel, it brings about its own bunch of issues if a potential VGM station were to exist. For one thing it'd be based out of some specific city (in fact such a channel might already exist, we just don't know about it). Would you move to Kansas City to listen to VGM radio? And get Google Fiber? Everyone wants to, but you can't just up'n do. Maybe I'm just being goofy and I should just go with the touchy feely answer of "I do! Yes, oh gosh 100 times yes!" Soo basically Yes, and gosh-dang the consequences!
  20. I went through the entire AMA just now.. made some "witty" responses and some serious answers. The answers about the panel were interesting. Excited to see the judge gains of 2016. And yeah, you guys know I've wanted to help for years. The offer's still there, and though I can't really assume or speak for anyone, I think in general people might be a lot less likely to drive me out of town on a stick than they used to be in the past. Although (and I mean no offense at all) the dire situation of the inbox right now makes it seem like I would be a lot less effective than I would have been say 3 years ago. There's so much more work to go through now, both what is there, and what is coming in. It seems like you guys need a LOT of judges if you're really getting 1,000 submissions a year. That's not going to be something a few people could handle. I'm kinda expecting or maybe I should say hoping to see a team of like 50 judges maybe more.
  21. I would go to MAG just to hang out with zyko and Garpocalypse. And maybe some other people But seriously why pay to go to MAG when you could just come visit me?
  22. You better name that album "Mixtape" cause people already know it's Fire Here's a fun story that I remember. Waaay back at, it had to be MAGFest 9. It was my first time meeting anyone. I talked to DS about the FFV albums and how I wasn't on the first one and he was like well, we might be able to find a spot for you on "Earth" which should be out in a year or so (or however long it was planned to be at that point)... I remember thinking yess I am so lucky, I will be able to make a FF5 tribute, I loved FFV on the SNES. It's the only SNES FF I ever finished and really liked. Soooooooo I dunno the point of the story. Maybe just to be like Oh yes, one day I will be on you, Earth! Maybe. Haha. Things change with time. I went through a loooot of phases between 2009 and now. Insane to think it's been almost 10 years (2019!)
  23. You should have banked on this project, 'cause it's too big to fail.
  24. https://reamping-online.com/ Someone told me about this site cause I can't re-amp my guitars properly right now due to hardware issues... If you have a guitar recording 4 minutes or less, you can use one of the 2 free amps here to reamp your guitar track using a Kemper profiler. Make a free account. Even if you end up paying ($1 per minute) to use one of the other amps, it's not that bad of a value.. you'd probably end up paying less than $10 per song to reamp all your guitars. But you could really just export your guitar WAV with little silence and reamp that. No need to include the silence, because it WILL reamp the silence. It'd be a waste of time. And if you upload a WAV over 4 minutes long, it won't work for the free amp. I want to hear someone try this and post their finished song. I haven't used it on a finished song yet, but I test reamped a guitar track of mine. I figure I will have to use this a bit in the future though. If someone is interest I do have a song I could use the reamp website on, I am probably going to do that, but it's currently an unreleased song.
  25. Has everything been claimed except for Killer Instinct? Is there only 1 claim allowed per game that is listed, or are there more games included that are not listed?
