  1. That sounds like it'd be crazy difficult to pull off, but it is pretty funny, hahah! Worked on a wrestler's intro music with Zoltan once, and I hear about friends working with wrestlers on twitter.. Wrestlers are using a lot more common music now it seems, so it's just kind of really cool sounding rock or rap beat that they walk in to. I may have to tell DCT about this project. Who do you think would direct it?
  2. I'm gonna step on all of the toes, and steal the glory of posting about the return of FF5 Water It's coming back guys, for real! DarkeSword announced at MAGFest that the music was done! Look at that, haha! Two years between this post and the one a couple posts up from me... @Sagnewshreds it might! The release date for FFXV is being announced on March 30th at the Uncovered event, we'll see what happens!
  3. Chiptunes fall under parody so they're legally safe under Weird al laws. Just kidding.
  4. Just so I am aware, what was the cause that you were dropping this as a director? Was it that you didn't have time to direct it, or was it more that you needed assistance? Or people weren't working on stuff and you just weren't feeling it anymore? Any reason is fine, I'm just curious and it'll make it more clear what the situation is
  5. How much I want to pay is different than how much I'm willing to pay. Basic MSRP is $60 so that's what I'm willing to pay. What I want to pay is a lot less. But I want to pay a lot less for a lot of things. I get more enjoyment even out of a game people say has "no content" than I do out of a gallon of gas or a thing of cat litter.
  6. I honestly feel like I agree with Neblix on this one, if the game provides you with exactly what you want, then the quality and quantity is fine, but it takes me back to what I was saying about such things being subjective. Surely there's a consensus, but a lot of the time the consensus is wrong (example: The Order 1886)
  7. That's silly, he just enters for the recognition? I know everyone at DoD knows his entries whenever they come on, but isn't that enough? Do you really have to be sitting in front of them at a panel so they can acknowledge you at the same time? haha.
  8. Alright, so you just want a co-director then? That can do. Slap that tracklist back up or maybe have them put it into one of my early posts in the thread so that I can edit it freely? Also this did have a subforum right or am I just going crazy? Is this an "official project" with OCR? Even if not no biggie, not being official never stopped anything The first thing you oughta do (as main director ) is contact people who were attached and see if they're still attached!
  9. Are you still planning on doing FF3? :)

  10. The most important thing you can do for the future strength of OCR is give positive re-enforcement to new artists, especially those with seemingly endless enthusiasm.

  11. Alright no drama. I feel like a stockholder though. I have 2 songs on this album that have sat around for almost half of the time I've been on OCR, which is crazy. Maybe I went too far voicing my opinion and I am not really anything like a stockholder. I had high hopes for the songs and how they would be treated. You're right though, it's their album. I can only hope they'll take the suggestion to email in the assets to djp... I don't honestly know why there's so much defensiveness over a website template that had less effort put into it than my tantrum
  12. In the time it takes you to get good at sequencing fake guitar, you could buy and learn a real guitar, probably for around the same price as you'd drop on expensive VSTs. If you get good on a $100 strat you'll get good on anything. But despite what marketing slogans and marketing people might tell ya, there's no easy path to what you're trying to do. There's the slow uphill path towards your goal, and the larger, sphincter-like stinky path downwards into financial ruin and obviously-fake-sounding-guitar-that-people-wont-enjoy! Not saying people will like your live playing either, at least not for the first year or so, depending on how lazy you are.
  13. Haha, not focusing on obscure towns was a good idea then, because pretty much all town themes are obscure just because they're town themes, not main themes.. even then for a lot of games main themes are obscure.. if you leave the video game community bubble, I guess. I dunno haha. But yeah, the big question here is what are we going to do now here? Maybe sleep on this for a few days and make sure it's what you really want to do (giving up the album). People are getting home from MAG and sleeping for a week right now anyway. I'm a little fascinated to see the tracklist and get back into the subforum, but I could just do that as a remixer, if you decided to keep this. I say let's let this deal simmer for a few just to make sure. But in the meantime of course if there's people who were remixing on this album now would be a good time to revisit your songs and make sure they kick butt, submit to the panel if they're done...you can get feedback from a NO, or it could pass, either way it'd be beneficial so things could move forward with the songs
  14. Attaching price to the product is irrelevant though, especially when you could just buy the handsome collection that includes all the DLC. It's been on sale for like $24. Probably less on that PC casual platform but people are going to pay what they feel the product is worth and I don't know, everyone feels quality and quantity in a different way
  15. U know what game had less content than all of those, The Order 1886.. but I loved the hell out of that game. One of the best games on my PS4, and I bought Fallout 4.. I put it on top tier next to Bloodborne. Fallout 4.. has a lot of content, but its annoying as hell copy paste of the same shit to extend the gameplay.. I can understand some people being into that but noooo.... I've heard New Vegas was better but it froze when I forgot to save and I never played it again. But yeah The Order 1886. People absolutely trashed the game. But it's really one of theeee beeeeeest games-as-art ever made, and I don't consider a lot of games to be art. The ironic thing is that the 8~ or more hour length of the game is really not that short. Nobody whined about BioShock Infinite being 11 hours with no multiplayer I don't go to theaters because of reasons. But If I did I'd buy the popcorn, some snacks, a large drink, bring an expensive girl, watch 20 minutes of the movie, use the restroom, go back to my seat and play on my phone
  16. Nah, all songs should be submitted to the panel, they should just be informed that it's for a project.. and hopefully the song passes
  17. Is it over yet? You guys gotta get home then sleep for a week until you're productive again right? On the other hand I am like West Virginia -- OPEN FOR BUSINESS
  18. Oh ye I have no idea of what's here. I used to have access to the subform but it went away. They must have realized I wasn't on the album, I was going to make something if I had time though which was a funny idea but I never had the time between all the stuff that was going on. a small ocra is possible, shoot for around 10 mixes. Being able to pick any town theme would be really helpful and give people a lot to choose from. The quality bar would be higher because half of the songs would have to pass the panel, preferably more than half would be nice
  19. Haha plus keep in mind that the people in the first few places had to recruit an army of like 15 people just to get past you But here's the problem.... No reviews came out. So the DoD value is lost.
  20. Over a year after there was a post here.. I believe a small bit of explanation is needed, though there should be an episode of OverClocked PodCast coming up that sheds more light on what happened. I got sick last year, that's the very very short version of it. Anyway, Cheryl Norfair and I have made another song for Chapter 1 of this album, the good thing potentially being that nobody from Dwelling of Duels damn remembered this thread where the song was listed as being one that I would do, so nobody reported it to the authorities and got us taken out. It's the Xenoblade Chronicles remix of Beyond the Sky. I don't have it on YouTube yet because I'm still trying to reinstall software, I basically do not have the ability to put it up... so in the meantime, here's a regular untagged mp3 -- UPDATED from the DoD version. I might update it further. Feel free to share some feedback though, can't guarantee I'll take it all into consideration, but I'm already planning to possibly add more reverb to the vocals. I'm also going to refrain from saying who I am collaborating with in the future until it's set in stone. That should help avoid some awkwardness of saying who is helping and then they're not involved at all. In other news, still have a fully arranged and recorded remix of David Bowie's New Angels of Promise from Omikron, missing the vocals though. There's only 2 more songs left to touch in chapter 1, a couple more to finish apart from that but which already have progress. I want to pick this up a lot better this year, so wish me luck.
  21. Games are different and most people don't even play all of the content before they start whining . Games do cost too much, but quality/quantity per game is subjective. The person writing that article should've realized that.
  22. I think another thing is people put too much weight on the term "director". I even see that happening now outside of OCR with other albums. I mean I get it, you're coordinating this thing, you like it, organizing art, gaining remixers and songs.. how much direction is really going on? Here's when I would call it directing.. when you're personally working with a remixer to redo a song 7 times because the pacing isn't quite right, or the atmosphere is a little off. When you specifically tell an artist what to make, and in what style, and throw it back at them a few times for specific revisions. Replacing people when something doesn't come out exactly how you want it. And I think The Shining is kind of a shitty movie personally, but you can't deny that is directing. I really wish people would move more towards the term "coordinator" because the way I see it, that's really what this is. You're coordinating a bunch of artists (both musical and visual) to create art in their own way, maybe with a small bit of instruction, but mostly letting them do what they do best and accepting that to be what is the eventual product. I'd like to use the recent Satoru Iwata album as an example. The artist just showed up in the thread and people were like "Yeah let him do it!" Then he did basically what he wanted for the cover. People as a community had some suggestions, but ultimately it was his thing what he did. The music had a lot less community involvement. At least for me, I made a song, and I sent in a WAV. That was the extent of our business relationship. I don't know, I don't guess this is really relevant to what is happening in the thread right now, but I find it interesting. It'd honestly be cool if Mirby reconsidered, and shot for an OCRA release with this, because it's possible to do that. Though if time is a concern, it is what it is. What I could say though is that in the off chance this actually did land on my desk, I'd have to evaluate what's already been done and who is involved, and possibly make changes to shoot for that OCRA release.
  23. Directing isn't has hard as people make it out to be. It's basically what I do anyway, which is sit at work all day and bother people on Facebook the hard part is getting people off their tractors and actually making their songs
