  1. That was a quick response. The thought occurred to me because there was a remix contest several months ago where the original producer placed a remix done by someone else of his track online to have people remix the remix. That's confusing. There was a lot of differences from the remix and original, but the remix managed to retain the familiar aspects as far as melody goes. I was just wondering if anyone else had ever bothered doing the same. I mean, what do you call a remixed remix?
  2. Has remixing someone else's remix on this site ever been considered? As in taking someone else's MIDI work and/or stems, and expanding on it to create the remix the way you would have made it, rather than taking an original song by someone like Koji Kondo and remixing it from scratch?
  3. SeamlessR uses a lot of FL synths for electro house and complextro. I've never used GMS. I just took a look at it right now and I'm not really sure what it is, so I'll probably give it a shot tomorrow or something. I knew someone who made electronic music with just the 3xOsc. She may have used other stuff for the drums and such, but I don't really know. Back in 2009, I had heard of of the DAW, and I remember reading a lot of bad things about it. I don't think it's the synths themselves per se, but that most new users just stick with preset sounds rather than trying to make something else out of them. That was one of the issues, there were some others that I don't really care to mention. This DAW can't be as bad as some say it is. A lot of familiar EDM artists use it, and I don't think they would be if it sucked.
  4. Would have been great to hear some seagulls in the background. Maybe I'm being cliche. Either way, I like it.
  5. I was reminded of the trailer theme of Prometheus the first time I took a listen. Not really sure why. I like the granular and distorted sounds.
  6. This would have probably been heard more if it were moved into the Remix section. Regardless, I like it. Interesting how you threw three themes in together.
  7. I thought about making this a trance genre, but for now, I guess I'll just have it as it. Uffe von Lauterbach - Kinder der Nacht
  8. Aside from what has already been addressed, I can't wait until this is finished. I loved the OST in Portrait of Ruin.
  9. I thought I'd let you know that your most recently posted remix has been stuck in my head since 8 o'clock this morning.

  10. This is pretty cool. I wish all the boss battles transitioned smoothly. I guess that's not really expected of medleys. Regardless, I enjoyed it. Thank you for putting the Ninja Gaiden boss theme in this, that was my favorite part. Especially Symphony of the Night.
  11. I was trying to say that he swept away the unnecessary stuff that causes a muddy track. Told you it was a bad joke. xD
  12. Thank goodness this is Tornado Man's theme, because he sure knows how to have a clean mix. Bad joke. I can't help but get lost in your remix.
  13. Your rendition makes me hope that us Zelda fans get to hear this theme in future games. I really liked it in Twilight Princess, but you took it another step. Great job.
  14. This is very relaxing to say the least. Not sure what to say about the realism of the piano here. At least how to make it sound authentic. 2:33 caught me off guard because before that, the velocity (volume) from the piano sounded fine, but then suddenly became quiet as if my speakers automatically lowered. Really enjoyed the thickness of the chords at 3:25. I wouldn't worry about straying away from the original source for a bit. The theme is short as you can hear in the original source, so variation is important. One example I can think of off the top of my head is a Super Smash Bros. remix on here called Polygons are Inaccurate. By the way, when I read house in the title, I was expecting a house remix. I wonder what that would sound like?
  15. Quite an improvement, I think, compared to the first one you posted. If I were you, I'd put a quick snare roll at 0:45 and 0:49. I like the little wobbles. I think you could alter the speed of the LFO with them, though, or apply a different synth with wobbles to change it up. Maybe it's just me, but the transition at 3:13 kind of strikes me odd. Maybe put a boom sound and space the section by four counts after 3:13 as if coming back into the intro theme, thus creating the outro. I like the variation with the drums. Especially the dubstep part of it. Speaking of which, if you have some heavy kicks, maybe put them in the dubstep part while keeping the original kicks throughout the rest of the track. Nice supporting melody at 1:59. It really gave a housey feeling.
  16. The instrumentation seems really loud. A lot of the instruments sound centered, though the tuba sounds like it's coming from the right. Pan the violin about 10 - 30 left, pan the timpani and the suspended string 10 to the left. Then again, you could put the suspended string to the right if the violin is going to the other side, giving more of a stereo effect. EQ the instruments, too. Say your violin is mostly prominent around 795Hz, if something else is clashing, reduce one of the two, usually the least important one, while still maintaining its presence. Your organ for example. I'd imagine that instrument probably sticks to the center, so you'd still be able to hear it without it killing the violin since it has both treble and bass. Just a thought.
  17. I actually did forget to mention the dry lead. The one I used was created in NI Massive, so I didn't actually have to apply anything since it was already there, though I prefer to mute those sounds and put my own in in a mixer channel. The bass could be fattened up in the earlier parts, but I really thought nothing of it as far as changes go. It was just at the 0:56 that I was expecting a fat bass. If you can't get any results for that, then again, as I've suggested earlier, you could just layer another bass behind it.
  18. I personally feel you could put a fat bass at 0:56. The little build-up before it had me excited and I was expecting some driven oomph from the bass. Could be cool if you had another instrument at 1:10 as a support to the lead. See what a rolling snare into a crash sounds like just before the main lead comes back in at 1:24. At 1:51, have the repeating section fade out and then the the normal volume come back in at 1:58. I actually had an idea. Then again, you put a crash in at 1:58. I was going to suggest the kick come in a bit before the 1:58 mark. Here is the example since I'm so bad at explaining things. Don't mind the bass, though that's kind of what I was talking about earlier. Perhaps you can just layer it.
  19. I'm not exactly sure what G-Mixer means, but if I understand him correctly, then I think he's saying something along the lines of this. First, the 1 , 3 , rhythm at 1:01 is fine. As the beat progresses with the riser, at 1:10, I'd probably apply a simple closed hi-hat with a bit of a rhythm. Or I suppose it counting 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & is fine, too. Maybe throw a 16th note somewhere in between to give it a bit of a change. At 1:16, maybe a clap/snare or an open hi-hat counting every second of an 8th note. You know, the typical trance beat, though this isn't trance. Still, give it a try and see what happens. Or you can add some weird FX sounds. Thip sounds for example, or something that gives it some variation. You could probably make one of these thip sounds with a separate kick by reducing the fade out, lowering the pogo effect, raising the pitch to max on the time stretch, and then go into the piano roll and go an octave up from C5. If you're not using FL Studio, then there is probably a different way of doing this. Maybe some impulses. I don't know. If you like the drum pattern the way it is, you should at least put something behind it so it doesn't sound like it's missing something. Totally up to you, though.
  20. I was already impressed the moment I pressed play. Such a clean housey remix. You really captured the mood with this. Great job!
  21. The voice you used from your brother could be in a lower octave or two. The bass seems almost non-existent. The kick could be a little more powerful. I don't really care for the robotic voice repeating "Electro robot speech". It sounded fine at 0:15, but after that, it didn't sound all that interesting. The kick drum at 1:30 sounds like it's not in sync, as if there is some beat matching issue.
  22. Thanks for letting me know about the mashup remixes. Like you, I also didn't want to go off topic.

  23. Thanks for clearing that up about the mashup remixes. I didn't want to continue going off topic in YoshiBlade's topic, so I figured I'd thank you here.

  24. I recently came across two Nintendo songs that have a similar rhythm, so I may end up creating something out of that. Of course, I may have to read the rules again, because I'm not sure if mashups are allowed, even if they're remixed. Anyway, I wouldn't say your remix sounds like a cat clawing at a chalkboard as your remix was very pleasing to my ears. It even made me smile a bit.
