  1. I need a job so I can start buying all these VST's. This looks incredible.
  2. A helpful thing to note about mixing is that, you want everything to be balanced, but not TOO balanced. You know what I'm saying? Because if everything is at the same level, there's some frequency space power struggles. The soundscape sounds a little on the empty side. It's pretty conservative. Maybe you did, and I just can't tell, but consider using panning. It spreads things out and allows you to put more stuff in. Put stuff that's less important farther out, and stuff that's more important closer in. Visualize panning like a stage of musicians. Other than that, I think this isn't terrible, I like the drums. Although the snare seems oddly... Low power. It just sounds really disappointing lol. If I may ask, what instruments do you play? I'm just curious. I always find it interesting to see who plays what (I tickle the ivory).
  3. Ok, well, I'm better than I make myself out to be xD but I have some work to do lol.
  4. Aw man. I would really love to do piano. I'm not sure if I'm good enough though. I could get a type AB USB cable and probably record in Reaper. I just wonder if I'm good enough. I'll say, that while I'm still technically learning, I am interested, I'm just not sure how much of an asset I would be. I'm good with chords, though. I know theory pretty well. If you gave me sheet music and time, I could get it done.
  5. Oh but decreasing the tempo sounds so good and chill. Ah maybe it would work.
  6. @JohnStacy Also, if you were gonna record with me, I actually worked on arranging something tonight and now it's starting to take a blues/funk approach. Not sure french horn would work or not, considering it is a bit warmer, but I dunno. I don't know what else you play though, so.
  7. Oh man, that's awesome! Personally I'm a piano player, so I've got that all set haha. I've got a drummer, a trumpeter, a bass player, guitarist... Not sure if any other wind or brass players that I know would be willing to record with me, I'd doubt they would be. I'll get working on making a full arrangment in jazz form before I finish this version and I'll let you know lol. I think we've got a deal xD. I wasn't expecting this today lol thank you! Really!
  8. @JohnStacy First off, thanks for all the info! Very, very useful. Secondly, I did end up playig around with it and it started taking a different, but I'll probably make two versions of this to see which one I like better, the one I'm working on now. And then maybe a sole jazz one. Writing it out first would be much better. Lol, I've kind of just been writing stuff as I go, but I guess I should take it slower haha. I love insaneintherainmusic, been following him for a year or so. I do have a trumpet player at my disposal, but I do not have a french horn player. Although, I'm not sure what else he plays, but trumpet is certainly his most involved instrument. I think it'd be awesome if you would be willing to record something I wrote (I would just have to make sure what I write is actually good xD).
  9. So, I'm not close to being done, but I wanted some advice for instrumentation and to show the idea that I have down so far. Just can't let this sit without sharing it anymore xD. But yeah. What should I do for the lead? I could get live trumpet, maybe and do some harmony work on it and stuff. But I'm wondering if there's anything else I can do with this other than just, "Hey, jazz."
  10. I found this interesting lol I've never seen a METAL cover of K.K. Cruisin'. But hey, if the shoe fits.
  11. I was kind of sad how short and simplistic this was... As far as harmonies go. I agree with Gario on that point, I feel like there could have been more harmonic elements utilized. The drums and bass were cool though.
  12. Drums can go ahead and add his flair too, if you change up some of the rhythms, maybe some syncopation or something, you can accentuate that by synchronizing the guitar and bass with the drums to get some pretty cool effects. Or don't synchronize. You could play other rhythms that revolve around what the drummer is doing but don't actually play on the accents of the selected rhythm. Just something to think about. @Sir_NutS said that it was pretty conservative. Take some arranging liberty. You can do a lot with a little. If it's a little that you have, don't try to do a lot with it. But, if you can record live, why not record guitar harmonies and layer them over the melody? Rhythms? Anything else you can do and add in post? I would recommend doing that in addition. I feel you're selling yourself short by saying that this is as good as it gets, but I know you could do better.
  13. I found this to be really cool, especially all the builds and stuff. I've played around with making dubstep music before, and after doing so I dunno I don't really enjoy the genre much, but that doesn't make this bad. Subjectively, I kind of wish it went in a different direction, but objectively, you did it pretty well. Maybe I just didn't like all the high wubs. Lol but this was still really enjoyable. I can't wait for Breath of the Wild.
  14. I dunno, the second edit kind of sounds... Off. More off than the first one. But the first one was pretty good. You used some pads or something from :44 to the end basically on the first edit, but they weren't in the second one and I'm questioning why. I kind of liked the first one better, even without the panning and stuff. Try adding some reverb on things. Not too much. But not too little. It just sounds kind of dry in my opinion. I'm no professional, but this is just my thoughts and observations lol.
  15. Thank you! I liked this one a lot too, compared to my other stuff. I'm still editing it, though. But thanks, I really appreciate it!
  16. @Mordi Oh man, I love this remix so much, I came back to listen to it while I'm doing homework. Helps calm me down, especially with the stress of college coming soon and having to deal with that.
  17. I'm not really qualified to evaluate this, so I won't lol. I did really enjoy this. The muted trumpet around :50 was cool, I liked that. The reverby sax at 1:30 was real cool too. I liked it, a nice jazz piece. As far as anything else goes like mixing or production lol, I can't really say I'm qualified to tell you about. But I enjoyed this.
  18. @YoshiBlade Lol, I'll take into consideration what you said, thank you. But, what realized after listening to this really is how repetitive that early pluck and how it needs to be fleshed out more. So thanks for pointing that out!
  19. You should consider selling this xD because I'll be first in line to buy it.
  20. Thanks for the suggestions, guys! I'll make sure to check them out.
  21. I'm in search of some new plugins, and I wanna know if anyone knows any good ones that are preferably free. Thanks!
  22. Haha alright, thanks for all the info! I'm probably gonna start diving right into automation and see what I can do with it. (I have midterms next week but to be honest I think I'll just remix all weekend).
