  1. I agree, The Minish Cap had some classic tunes that I feel often go overlooked. I dunno. I think I loved it so much because Capcom was involved. But thanks for enjoying it, I'm still working on this, so I'll update it as soon as I can.
  2. I know this is gonna sound like I'm ignorant xD but in the process of teaching myself production, I'm ready to step further out of my comfort zone and ask, what IS automation? I looked it up and I still don't get it. What does it do?
  3. A realbook is an illegally published book full of sheet music. It has a counterpart, there are also fakebooks, which are legally published "realbooks." At least that's what I was taught. It's like that Greenland/Iceland scenario.
  4. The Minish Cap is my favorite game in the Zelda franchise, and I've putting off my favorite song from the game (Minish Village) for quite a while. I finally said, "You know what, I'm gonna do it." So I got around to starting this project. Don't think I'm quite done yet, but I've got the bulk of it done. Most recent version of mix:
  5. I think I'm gonna go get a gym membership so I can work out to this song.
  6. Ah, now I really like this. I really liked the gliding synth at the beginning to segway into the theme. Awesome.
  7. Gotta say, I don't really like rap, but you made it sound, well... Good! I listen to jazz and stuff xD so rap is not in my arsenal of anything music, but I actually really liked this. I can't wait for Sonic Mania, too! (As long as they don't screw it up.)
  8. @arseniy Thank you! There's still some small problems with my editing that I'm going to fix, but thanks for enjoying it!
  9. I've edited my remix, updated the link, and now hopefully most of the problems are fixed.
  10. @Rozovian I really appreciate your honesty! To say that I'm a professional would be such a false statement in every way, I don't know anything about production, so I'm trying to teach myself. I'm not sure as though I'll have any opportunities of official education on this stuff. But that's no excuse, really. Looking at it, the mixing is pretty bad xD and instrumentation could use some work, and especially on this one, I do feel I tried to do too much at once. Although, I really appreciate your input and advice on making this better, I can't thank you enough for spending the time to give an amateur like me the time of day to try and make this better. I will certainly take into account the information that you have provided me.
  11. I decided to go more orchestral for this one, but get it to be pretty choatic and interesting. Let me know what you think! *Update* Fixed some mixing issues and got rid of the clicks.
  12. I actually realized during editing that for whatever reason, I had the trumpet panned left and I don't know why I did that xD. I could definitely add an echo like you described, nothing too big. It's the first time I've worked with live instruments that don't go direct, so it's brought its issues to the table. But, it's a learning experience, that's really all I'm doing these remixes for. I don't want money or anything, I just wanna learn, you know? But I digress. I fixed some of the compression and part of that overcompression I think is because for whatever reason, the samples I used already had a huge default amount on them. So I reduced it.
  13. Ok, so the bass should be something changed a little. I appreciate your enthusiasm in showing my flaws as a musician xD. That trumpet did give me some editing issues. And I've played around with compression, maybe I'm not listening for the right thing, but I really just don't hear anything except for a volume difference, but I know there's more to compression than just volume. But I just can't figure out. The drums probably get too abrasive because I did up the treble a little bit to make it stand out more, so that's something I can easily reduce. And I can fix the silence at the end xD. Personally, I do think that the soundscape gets a bit crowded, especially during the latter of the Hyrule Field segment, I could take out some stuff but then I'm afraid it'd be too barren. I dunno.
  14. Alright, thanks for the input! As for the "saxophone," that's actually live trumpet you're hearing, so that's about as real as it gets xD.
  15. Oh yeah, wow. I never even realized that while making this. Wow. That is uncanny. XD
  16. I had a lot of fun arranging this. I joined my school's jazz band this year, and after playing a few retro tracks, I just sat down and made my own chord progression that sounded kind of like a 70's whole deal. And then I thought, "What if I put the Mario theme over this?" And I fell in love. I definitely went for the more funky weird vibe with this one. Let me know what you think! I think I finally fixed it, I made lots of edits to try and make this one better. It should be pretty near completion if not already. Most recent version:
  17. I feel as though I've completed this, but I have not had any official feedback, so I'm gonna leave this on ready for review right now. I've been working on this for a while and I finally got around to "finishing" it per say. I really like how it turned out because I haven't done anything this extensive before. I think it turned out pretty good, of course it probably has its flaws. I'm no master at production, so I might not be able to point those flaws out, but maybe somebody better at this can. Overall this was just real fun to make either way. The remix comprises of the Title Theme, Hyrule Field, and Zelda's Lullaby from Ocarina of Time. At the end, I threw in a little bit of the Astral Observatory from Majora's Mask underneath Zelda's Lullaby, because why not? This is the most recent version:
  18. Yeah, I've heard from a lot of people that Garage Band is the best start when integrating into DAW's. Because it's affordable, and you'd be surprised with what you can come up with when a lot of hard work is put into a project.
  19. @Jorito Aw sweet, thanks! Those short little explanations really helped a lot. Anything I can do to learn more is such a help. I'll be sure to check out that resource. I've got a long way to go before I master all this stuff. Heh. Master mastering. I'm not funny. But anyways, thanks!
  20. So, I'm fairly new to music production, and I'm unfamiliar with some of the terms/edits/settings stuff, and I wanna learn more about it. Sure I could just google this one, but I wanna hear from some of you experts. What exactly is EQing? And what does compression do? And lastly, what do sound gates mean? Is that just the dynamic between treble and bass, or is there more to it?
  21. @Nutritious Working on PC is probably much better than mobile, but I don't mind mobile if it's all I got. Plus, it's not like I'm trying to make money off of music right now, so it all works out.
