  1. Hmmmm... I just got a melodica. Perhaps I'll tackle this one. Though it's much more ragtime than it is "redneck" per say, at least in terms of structure.
  2. Just wondering @sleepingforest, was this live guitar, I'm assuming it was, but if this was a plugin I'd be surprised.
  3. Life pretty much takes fun things away because of committments and responsibilities, but just yesterday, I watched this video: ... And I started bawling my eyes out because I miss the days when I could just go home and play Melee without having to do anything else (and I no longer have the game anymore because my brother never returned it).
  4. I don't play many new games anymore. Usually I'll just play Mario Kart 64 now and then or some Gamecube games.
  5. For me it had to be the AT-ST fight on the second level of Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire for the N64. I've since beaten it, but as a kid, I could never do it. It was the hardest thing on the planet, coupled with the poor camera and looser controls.
  6. Added another tune to this, the final boss one. Feedback is always appreciated.
  7. I dunno if it's just me, but there's a little guitar lick at :44 that seems oddly timed and I just grabbed onto it lol. I'm not someone who can speak for the judges, but to me arrangement sounds alright, except what might set this back is that you don't do too much different at the end, you just go back into the regular theme, though the ending adds some variety. Other than that, I don't really see many problems with this. Might wanna wait for someone with a bit more professional advice, this is about as far as I feel I can go lol. I don't know too much about the style, either.
  8. Anyone have any experience or thoughts about the Yamaha Reface series? I'm kind of interested, to say the least, mostly with the CP. Not sure if it's worth it or not though.
  9. Well, since this is a video game forum, why not do something cool based on a video game world, like in Mario or Metroid or something? You could do some cool stuff with that I bet.
  10. So, in my English class, we read Antigone. And one student wasn't sure what to do for the project we had assigned to us. So my teacher said, "Just work on your strengths, make a little game out of it." So he did. And I did the music for this small project. Just a title screen and overworld. But it was pretty fun. Here they are: Game Project Overworld Theme Game Project Title Theme Game Project Final Boss Just thought I'd share this fun little thing I'm doing.
  11. No problem, I'm sure when this reaches the judges it'll go in. If it doesn't, I'll be sad.
  12. I'm working on arranging something that started out as jazz, but eventually turned more and more funky, and I think it would suit me to have people that are more experienced than I help explain to me just how exactly to keep a groove interesting and going. The drums and bass obviously have a lot to do with it, but in a matter of complenting it with other parts I feel like I'm struggling with. Matching up the timings, sure, but any other advice?
  13. Hylian Lemon, you never cease to disappoint. I think it's coming out great so far. Definitely sounds like something that might come from F-Zero with the frantic direction you're taking it in (not to mention those sweet SNES-esque samples). I'm always a huge fan of your stuff and I don't think this will end up being any different. Or maybe the samples are more Genesis style now that I think about it.
  14. Alright, haha. I'll write you in on my brainstorming ideas page! I'll keep you updated as things move along. I play piano, so currently I'm arranging that and working outwards. Drums and bass after. Trumpet, horn, and sax now after those. I think that'll be it. Maybe I'll add guitar in there.
  15. Hey there! I'm currently arranging a jazz remix of "Break the Targets!" from Super Smash Bros. Melee, and I was wondering if you would be interested in doing some sax work for it? Right now I'm just taking a lot of time and putting a lot of thought into the arrangement process. But I think it would benefit me to have a sax. I'll probably also have trumpet and french horn.
  16. Ah, you know what, if this ends up happening, count me in. If you need a pianist.
  17. I know you didn't ask me, but here: https://www.musictheory.net/lessons Learning music is something that takes time. Time and effort. Especially piano. Piano, is in my opinion, the hardest instrument to master. But, that doesn't mean it's impossible. Sure, your stuff may not be great, but keep at it, and each day, it'll get better. If you have any questions about music theory, you can feel free to ask me. That's a personal invitation.
  18. Essentially. I play piano, so if I were to do something with that, say a chord progression or rhythm, or anything really. I'd play through it once, but then the second time I might change the voicings or switch up the rhythm just to make it less "the same as before." Just keeps the listener engaged, really. Looping stuff isn't inherantly bad, if there's something that needs to keep a certain rhythm or feeling/emotion. What I see, though, sometimes is just people looping something to get "more" song.
  19. My input: never, ever loop, copy/paste, repeat something for the sake of making it longer. Always try to come up with something new. Looping just makes things bland.
  20. Artists never get enough credit for what they do. I like this, this is really intricate and well made. It's interesting with all the different parts working together.
  21. In my opinion, brass and strings really don't sound all that great unless they're live. Plugins just can't get the quality and tone out of it exactly, I feel.
  22. @DJ H0us3C0rP3 So the delay you're hearing is on purpose. If I remember correctly, it's a cannon, when one voice plays the same melody shortly after another? Maybe I should take some reverb out there so it doesn't sound so muddy.
  23. I'm working on something new and I like how it's turning out so far. I wanna take this somewhere not wholly conservative lol. Most recent version: Source:
