Recently, a mix I posted back when I knew very little about production was just recently reviewed by the judges, and I'm fixing the issues that were prevelant. Knowing what I know now, I hope I can fix all the issues and resubmit it. Reviewed Mix: New Mix (In fixing progress): The Boss is Back in Town ReMix Source: If anybody could compare the original to the new remix and see if you think I improved on the judges critiques or not, that would be awesome. Thanks to anybody offering insight! (I'm not done with arrangement or production just yet.)

How Soccer Saved the Human Race
Ridiculously Garrett replied to Sam Ascher-Weiss's topic in General Discussion
This was actually really cool, I loved it when the guitar came in later in the track. -
No problem, man, I'm no professional myself, I'm still learning, and certainly I agree with you on the masterpiece of the original song, I could personally play it for hours and not get tired of it. To add some more info, I really did like when you brought the percussion stuff in, it came in at the beginning there and I was like, "Ooooo." Lol I think this has some pretty good potential.

The problems I see with this is how conservative it is. Not much here in terms of arrangement. Towards the end, the chords way overpower the lead, and I feel overall the chords could be taken down just a smidge. Love the sound design. These are my thoughts. It's a good idea, but I feel like the arrangment needs to be spiced up a bit more, (I know the song mainly only focuses around an Fmaj6/7 and Cmaj9 chord, but I'm sure there'd be a way to spice it up.) Considering you really only used the A section of the song, and left out the whole B section.

Hmmmm... I just got a melodica. Perhaps I'll tackle this one. Though it's much more ragtime than it is "redneck" per say, at least in terms of structure.

Has Anybody Here Quit Playing Video Games?
Ridiculously Garrett replied to DarkEco's topic in General Discussion
Life pretty much takes fun things away because of committments and responsibilities, but just yesterday, I watched this video: ... And I started bawling my eyes out because I miss the days when I could just go home and play Melee without having to do anything else (and I no longer have the game anymore because my brother never returned it). -

I don't play many new games anymore. Usually I'll just play Mario Kart 64 now and then or some Gamecube games. -
Parts in games so difficult they made you stop playing
Ridiculously Garrett replied to WillRock's topic in General Discussion
For me it had to be the AT-ST fight on the second level of Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire for the N64. I've since beaten it, but as a kid, I could never do it. It was the hardest thing on the planet, coupled with the poor camera and looser controls. -
Game Project Music

Added another tune to this, the final boss one. Feedback is always appreciated. -
I dunno if it's just me, but there's a little guitar lick at :44 that seems oddly timed and I just grabbed onto it lol. I'm not someone who can speak for the judges, but to me arrangement sounds alright, except what might set this back is that you don't do too much different at the end, you just go back into the regular theme, though the ending adds some variety. Other than that, I don't really see many problems with this. Might wanna wait for someone with a bit more professional advice, this is about as far as I feel I can go lol. I don't know too much about the style, either.

Anyone have any experience or thoughts about the Yamaha Reface series? I'm kind of interested, to say the least, mostly with the CP. Not sure if it's worth it or not though.

Well, since this is a video game forum, why not do something cool based on a video game world, like in Mario or Metroid or something? You could do some cool stuff with that I bet.

So, in my English class, we read Antigone. And one student wasn't sure what to do for the project we had assigned to us. So my teacher said, "Just work on your strengths, make a little game out of it." So he did. And I did the music for this small project. Just a title screen and overworld. But it was pretty fun. Here they are: Game Project Overworld Theme Game Project Title Theme Game Project Final Boss Just thought I'd share this fun little thing I'm doing.

I'm working on arranging something that started out as jazz, but eventually turned more and more funky, and I think it would suit me to have people that are more experienced than I help explain to me just how exactly to keep a groove interesting and going. The drums and bass obviously have a lot to do with it, but in a matter of complenting it with other parts I feel like I'm struggling with. Matching up the timings, sure, but any other advice?

Hylian Lemon, you never cease to disappoint. I think it's coming out great so far. Definitely sounds like something that might come from F-Zero with the frantic direction you're taking it in (not to mention those sweet SNES-esque samples). I'm always a huge fan of your stuff and I don't think this will end up being any different. Or maybe the samples are more Genesis style now that I think about it.

Woodwind Player, Bassist
Ridiculously Garrett replied to HankTheSpankTankJankerson's topic in Recruit & Collaborate!
Alright, haha. I'll write you in on my brainstorming ideas page! I'll keep you updated as things move along. I play piano, so currently I'm arranging that and working outwards. Drums and bass after. Trumpet, horn, and sax now after those. I think that'll be it. Maybe I'll add guitar in there. -

Hey there! I'm currently arranging a jazz remix of "Break the Targets!" from Super Smash Bros. Melee, and I was wondering if you would be interested in doing some sax work for it? Right now I'm just taking a lot of time and putting a lot of thought into the arrangement process. But I think it would benefit me to have a sax. I'll probably also have trumpet and french horn. -
Trombone Shorty style album

Ah, you know what, if this ends up happening, count me in. If you need a pianist.
