Auto-tuning isn't a nod to pop culture, it's just an effect.

Um, I'm not some "random mod" y'know. I'm fairly high up in the staff, and have been for years. I think that aside from djpretzel himself, I'm actually the one active staff member who's been on staff the longest. So yeah, I do actually get to make decisions about that kind of thing, because part of my duties is to be a community administrator, which includes any "official" gaming communities. Back when all this stuff happened with the server, I was trying to get the full story, but you guys just went ahead and re-branded one night anyway on your own, so I figured that was best for everyone involved. Abadoss asked me yesterday if it could be official again because parties involved were leaving, so I said okay. I don't really have an agenda. If you think I was giving someone special treatment, which you implied when you talked to me on IRC, then you're wrong. I never got to address that implication because you signed off before I could reply, and then everything happened much faster than I could keep up with, so I figured it wasn't worth pursuing. Please don't make any further implications about me. The fact that you refer to me as "some random mod" means you don't really know much about who I am and what I do (and have done) here.

No one's freaking out because they know that if they do something as foolish as calling my integrity into question, they'll feel the heat of my rage. I voted for the mix I liked better. The fact that he's my brother does not and will not ever play into that. He knows that, I know that, and everyone else who's ever dealt with me in any way should know that. I think that's enough said about the subject. -

Overslept. Will get everything up in the coming hour. -
As long as you guys are following the rules and not being dicks, it's fine. OCR servers are there for people to play on.
-
I don't mean a literal spec on the spy. I mean speccing fixed cameras or teammates and watching what the spy does and calling it out.

I'm not doing blind voting, ever. -
TF2 feels really fresh with all the new folks. Nobody spychecks! Playing Spy on OCR (or any all-talk/dead-talk server) is really much harder, because as soon as people get stabbed they yell out "SPY IS ME" and then they spec the spy and give the play by play. So annoying.

I think it looks fantastic. I'll be grabbing it on PC.

Ubisoft did. Probably the best thing about Mr. Caffeine is that when he told his really awful jokes, nobody laughed at him at all. There is one hilarious moment when he tells a joke and does that "wait for laughter" thing and it's dead silent.

Petition to Square Enix to create a new 16 bit FF game

Four Heroes of Light. Seriously. I don't understand why more people haven't played this game. It is exactly what fans of "old-school" Final Fantasy want. -

It's okay man. I think sometimes people get tunnel-vision where Square Enix is concerned and forget that they've made more games in the past couple of years than just Final Fantasy XIII. Whether they are good or not is obviously a matter of personal taste, but I think people need to be careful not to judge the merit of an entire company by their most recent, highest-profile home console game. -

Dragon Quest IX was pretty good! So was Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light; I love that game. Really old-school feel, great soundtrack, charming art direction, lots of customization. -

Final Fantasy Legends: Hikari to Yami no Senshi is a completely original game. New world, new characters, new music, all done in the style of 16-bit era Final Fantasy games. It seems to me that this is exactly what you're looking for; the only problem is that nobody outside of Japan can play this game yet. If After Years is any indication, this game will most likely get some kind of port to a more accessible platform. And I did play the After Years and I thought it was just fine. I like the new characters and story, and adding the phases of the moon affecting battle conditions was a nice touch too. You haven't played After Years or Legends, yet you call them "half-baked" and make assumptions about the amount of "effort" put into them. What makes you think that an internet petition is going to get Square Enix to sit down and say, "Guys, we need to put more EFFORT into making a 16-bit Final Fantasy game! We need make sure this game is fully baked!" What makes you think that just because you get 100,000 people to sign your petition, Square Enix is going to make a better game? I didn't want to say this before because it's something everyone says about internet petitions and also what you were petitioning for already existed, but here's the thing: internet petitions don't work, especially not with such a traditionally Japanese company like Square Enix. 20,000 people signed a petition for a Final Fantasy 7 remake and what did they say? "We have no intention at this time." That's an official response made to any inquiry made about unplanned or unannounced projects, and doesn't really have anything to do with a petition or the amount of signatures on one. -

It's not an iOS game, it's developed specifically for Japanese cellphones that use the i-mode service. It's already out in Japan too; been out for months. It's basically an episodic release like The After Years except it's totally original and not a sequel to any previous Final Fantasy game, although it does have a job system like FFV. -

Right now it's mobile, but I assume SE will eventually port it to something like iPhone or WiiWare or something. -
