  1. I recently purchased Lost Planet 2 for PC on Steam. The single player isn't bad, but his game really was built for multiplayer. If anyone has this game on PC, please reply. Maybe we can get some co-op campaign games going.
  2. Make a thread. I'll move it.
  3. Yes, I'll be posting detailed instructions once the match-ups go live and you know what to mix.
  4. Brushfire can I have money to buy Star Trek Voyager DVDs?
  5. Draft is complete, check your Maverick and Bracket. X Bracket members will have their mixing stage starting this weekend. When the week ends, voting will begin while Zero Bracket members have their mixing stage. We will continue to alternate through the entirety of the competition. There will be no officially tracked losers brackets.
  6. Since chickenwarlord is dropping out I'll add you in. I'll do the draft tonight or tomorrow and then we'll hopefully start on Sunday. EDIT2: Actually no, I'm stupid, there's one conflict, but I'll take care of it now.
  7. Guys, if an admin asks you to turn off your music, turn it off.
  8. I played two games of HoN and stopped playing for a few reasons. Mostly because it was difficult to figure out what to do and what to buy because the game didn't do much to actually explain anything to newbies, but also because I got the feeling that it was a game where there's a lot of pressure from teammates to not screw up, and I don't really like playing games where there's that much pressure. I like multiplayer games but I don't like it when they get really really competitive; I'm more of a "for fun" kind of guy, and DotA-type games are more of the former. This I might play if the barrier to entry is lower and the community isn't hopelessly hostile, but it's also of interest to me because of the Steamworks improvements.
  9. http://gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2010/10/13/dota-2-announced-details.aspx FYI, Valve officially announced Defense of the Ancients 2 today, along with planned updates to Steamworks.
  10. It's not really the matter of changing things or evolving things that's the problem, it's the lack of technical polish that's pervaded Sonic games since Sonic Adventure. 3D Sonic games are historically glitchy, have bad collision detection, and suffer from a myriad of camera problems, and they got worse with each new iteration. Sonic Heroes and Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) were particularly bad. 3D Sonic games simply were not well-made. Unleashed was better, but it still had issues in the night levels (which were a bad idea altogether). I played Sonic Colors at NYCC. It's a step in the right direction. I didn't notice any weird glitches, I never got inexplicably caught on some level geometry, and the camera was pretty solid. In terms of gameplay, it's very much in the same vein as Sonic Rush and the day levels of Unleashed, in that it's a speed-run game; meaning, you're going to have to memorize the levels and play them a bunch of times in order to figure out the fastest and best way through them. It's not really an exploring platformer like the old Genesis/MD games, which is probably something we won't ever see again, as long as DIMPS is developing Sonic games. Personally I don't mind; I like the Rush approach to Sonic, and I played the two Rush games quite a bit.
  11. Done. Also real name field is for actual real name.
  12. I made you guys a Social Group on the forum. http://ocremix.org/forums/group.php?groupid=10 You can use it for posting player lists and organizing raids and stuff, if you'd like. Group ownership can't be transferred (yet), but there are practically no restrictions on the group, so anyone can post.
  13. I am shariqansari on Minecraft.
  14. Merged both Minecraft threads, as we already had one and only need one. I also created a new Minecraft group. http://ocremix.org/forums/group.php?groupid=9
  15. I moderate when you get involved because you don't understand the forum atmosphere. You post long, drawn out arguments. You aren't concise. You take too long to make your point. You argue for argument's sake. OCR forums have their own rhythm, and if you're going to post here, you need to find it.

Also, you don't know my opinion of rap music or hip-hop culture, so don't assume that I've locked a thread that's strayed off-topic just because I may or may not disagree with you.

If you're going to post on this forum, stop being a pretentious snot and start posting intelligently, instead of trying to be an intellectual.

  16. It doesn't matter what you do anywhere else or how other forums are moderated. This is OCR, and we're a very specific kind of site and a very specific kind of community, focused on gaming and music. When you start talking about rap music and how it contributes to society's ills, you've gone off the rails. It's off-topic, and it doesn't actually foster any discussion, because it devolves into you saying things that make you seem racist, and then people accuse you of being racist, and it just goes back and forth; it doesn't help your case that your opinion is uninformed to begin with, and your references to statistics amount to "just do a google search!"

I don't care who you can go "toe-to-toe" with. I don't know what SWF is, and I don't care. I don't care how much money they have or handle. (cont.)

  17. OCR is a very well moderated board, and yes, it is my job to decide what kind of discussion takes place on OCR, including deciding on whether what you post is pretentious bullshit or not, and whether or not it belongs on this forum.

  18. Don't get on my case because I'm putting an end to a thread that isn't going anywhere. Nobody was interested in your pretentious bullshit, and you turned a thread about a very specific topic (rap in the VGM community and the etiquette between artists) into some stupid soapbox crap about society's ills or some other such nonsense.

Also: post your thread in the right place. It belongs in PPR, not Community.

  19. This thread has gone off the rails, mostly thanks to Mr. Kieser, who seems to love the sound of his own fingers on the keyboard. We're done.
  20. Samples are killing this mix. Really mechanically sequenced, hard panning the flutes, not really mixed for balance beyond maybe having some samples applied to a MIDI track. Arrangement is great, but the performance is not; it's quite the opposite. Can't get away with just a good arrangement; we need to hear you create a performance here. NO
  21. Love the take on the source tune. This is a really well produced track with a really interesting soundscape. I love the chippy stuff underneath the processed organic elements; it really fills in the space in an interesting way. Guitar work sounds wonderful. This makes me thing of some crazy, Matrix-stylized Western. Awesome YES
  22. Nice production, love the compressed stuff. Arrangement is too liberal, like the other joojes said. With a track like this, you gotta make sure you don't stray too far from what little source material there is, otherwise it ceases to be an arrangement altogether. NO
  23. If you're trying to make an argument based on statistics, do the "hard research."
  24. Saw Sonic Colors for Wii in action today at NYCC. Looks very good, though it's very much DIMPS Sonic gameplay (speed boosters, etc.).
