  1. More about Apex Series! http://apex-series.com Download it! http://ocremix.org/info/Apex_2013:_Straight_to_the_Top Torrent! http://bt.ocremix.org/torrents/Apex_2013_-_Straight_to_the_Top.torrent Working on Straight to the Top has been a real rush! I'm really excited to help OC ReMix get involved in some new ways of promoting video game music; making an official album for a an event is something we've never done before and it's been really fun and interesting working with the folks over at Apex Series. I want to give a big shout out to John "Alex Strife" Lugo over at Apex who came up with this whole thing, Cristin "Crismas" DeSaro, another Apex-ite who put together the killer album art, John Ryan, the fellow who wrote the excellent original theme for Apex 2013, and of course all of the OC ReMixers who stepped up and put out some really killer remixes. I hope everyone enjoys the album! And if you can't make it out to Apex this year, make sure to be there the next! -- Shariq “DarkeSword” Ansari
  2. OMG APEX TODAY We're heading out soon from Casa de DarkeSword. See you all there!
  3. Merging this back over here. My suggestion was specifically for RWTS because this compo models itself after the TV show in presentation.
  4. Singing Mountain specifically is allowed because it is present in the game's data. It's in the ROM of Chrono Trigger. Hidden Palace Zone is also accessible in the sound test for Sonic 2 with out any kind of hacking or digging necessary. It's in game. For other tracks, such as something "written for the game and included on the OST," if it isn't in the game data anywhere, it's not fair game for remixing, and you should not try to submit a remix using that as source music. Also, just as a note, when asking these kinds of questions, don't just ask in the general sense. If you have a specific example of a song you want to remix, you need to be explicit about it and tell us exactly what you're planning to do. Asking about hypothetical situations will only get you generalized answers. If we know the specific track in question, we can investigate its specific eligibility. Also remember; this is Ask a Judge. If you're not a Judge (or a staff member with an official answer), don't answer the questions. OCR doesn't always necessarily do things based on precedent; standards and rules have evolved and changed. What was permissible years ago (in the context of submissions) is not necessarily permissible today, and vice versa. You can't always just look at remixes posted years ago and say "YUP IT'S OKAY!" We make an effort to be consistent and up front about things like standards and source eligibility, but OCR is 10+ years old and is a living and growing website. Things can change, so be careful about assumptions and presumptions.
  5. Spoke with PH at Mag. Don't worry guys, there's a plan. GMRB has not been abandoned.
  6. Please use the Pokémon X & Y thread to talk about Pokémon X & Y.
  7. If you're going to be doing photo edits featuring people, you need to check with the person/people being used in the photo edit before posting it to the forums. I don't want to see people start posting potentially offensive photo edits here on OCR if the people featured in said edits are not cool with it.
  8. You should do a results show as a podcast or something at the end of each episode.
  9. Currently chilling at Jill and Andy's before making the drive home. It was nice to see so many new faces this year at Mag, especially a lot of the mega man compo crew. I want to especially thank all the folks that came out to our workshop panel on Friday. Last year's was kind of iffy but I think people had a lot more fun this year with zircon up there live-mixing. Oddly enough no real catchphrases this from this weekend, but I suppose that's alright. Also just want to say that you guys should never feel too awkward to come up and say hi. Magfest is exactly the place to do that! Not really sure how mine and Jarel's room turned into a party room so often over the weekend, especially since we had no booze, but thank you to everyone for stopping by and not making a mess. We're planning on doing more Kamen Rider stuff next year, so watch out. Hopefully I'll see even more of you next year!
  10. There are still chords. The chord progressions are just very simple and spread out over a lot of measures. A riff doesn't replace a chord. A riff is just a small chunk of melodic line. There is still a chord progression, even if all of the notes in the chord are not necessarily represented in the bass or accompaniment or whatever. You're jumbling up a lot of different things here but there's nothing special about it. It's just really simple chord progressions.
  11. We actually don't have to go to the airport on Wednesday. She's driving up with starla and Rama.
  12. Also I would have loved to have been able to express my desire for a Warzard/Red Earth digital re-release.
  13. Yeah I took this earlier. Would love to see some Battle Network compilations or something.
  14. Monkey's brains, though popular in Cantonese cuisine, are not often to be found in Washington D.C.!
  15. Your sig is too tall. The combined height of stacked images in your sig should not exceed 250px. Please rearrange or resize your sig graphics accordingly.

  16. If you're like me and use a 360 controller to play PC games, check out Joy2Key. This is a program I use for playing games that don't have gamepad support or games that have limited gamepad support. I had a hard time playing SFxMM with the 360's left-stick (analog sticks aren't so great when playing a precision platformer like Mega Man) and the game doesn't support mapping the directions to the d-pad (pov switches), so Joy2Key was really useful in that regard. It basically maps keyboard keys to your controller, so you set the game to just use the keyboard as your input and map the in-game keyboard controls accordingly. Joy2Key is also useful for flash games that can't feature controller support, like Rokko-chan. Oh also I forgot to add, I played a little bit of SFxMM last night and it's really good! Chun-li's Stage is really hard though. xD
  17. Apex 2013 January 11-13 New Brunswick, NJ - Rutgers Student Center http://apex-series.com/ OC ReMix is proud to announce that we'll be at Apex 2013, a weekend long fighting game tournament event right here in my own backyard at Rutgers University, debuting Apex 2013: Straight to the Top, the official Apex 2013 album by some very talented OC ReMixers (including yours truly!). It's the largest Smash Bros. tournament in North America, and will also feature other games, including (but not limited to) The King of Fighters XIII and Super Street Fighter IV. We'll be there selling shirts and merch, and the first 50 registrants will get a limited edition physical copy of Apex 2013: Straight to the Top! There will also be chances to win the album during the tournament, so bring your stick and your A-game! In addition, music from the album will be featured on the weekend-long livestreams for the tournament, so if you can't make it out to the event, be sure to tune in and follow the coverage! Hope to see you folks there!
  18. Alright let's get this final battle started. Mixes due in a week. Good luck guys.
  19. Let's get back on track and start talking about the DKC3 album folks, not one person's opinion of it.
  20. Fixed the title. Please put a little more effort into threads about new games.
