  1. If you want this on the project you should take this down and message him. Works-in-progress for albums are supposed to be kept under wraps until the project is released. He'll give you plenty of feedback
  2. Thanks man! Long time no talk. We need to catch up some time I need to hear some of your new tunes, and you need to hear my finished Wild Arms tracks.
  3. All Shamisen/Koto sounds come from Zircon's "Koto Nation" library. http://soundcloud.com/theophany/chiiori
  4. Metroid Fusion - Secotr 4 Underwater Area. I was planning to remix this track for a personal project, but I'd like to help mark the occasion. If I change my mind or I get too busy, I'll drop it, but I'd like to claim it for now
  5. so, i've got some nice gear, 1 darbuka, and 2 native hand drums

and a ton of recording to do :)

  6. Honestly, this is in my top five favorite remixes for this year. Awesome work!
  7. Really cool. edit: I also have to ask, have you heard the OST to an anime called Kaiba? There's a track on that OST that has a similar dub/electronic fusion style... though I think your track is better
  8. That's a pretty short amount of time to put an album together, but if you narrow this down to something more like an EP or a "flood project", then maybe ocr can just flood the front page with a handful of new metroid remixes to mark the occassion. Either way, I'd certainly like to contribute.
  9. I think it's dorksword(sp?). Yeah, never heard of him till today. But whoever he is... he's up for some birthday licks. Happy Birthday, man!
  10. of course bro, thanks for letting me know

  11. I mentioned this awhile back, but I forgot what band it was. Just wait for the singing to start and you'll remember what I'm talking about :)

  12. I'm presently broke, but if I can donate in the near future I will. Super Metroid is my favorite soundtrack of all time. Everything sounds awesome so far!
  13. Animal Counterpoint. Definitely my favorite on the album so far. You think you're Steve Reich or something??!?!? Amazing work :)

  14. I was still a contributing member of the original group, but... this is off topic. My tracks for Wild Arms are quite different from the Link's Awakening remix. They definitely aren't chillout. Still, Emu and Jade need to NOT HYPE MY SHIT.
  15. Thanks, man... and congratulations on the album launch! I'm glad I could be a part of it.
  16. Originally, it was a group. Now it's just me.
  17. Listening party tomorrow at 5PM EST. Don't know about the release date, but you can hear the album then.
  18. You will have a finished version of "Wound" today or tomorrow...

  19. There's a lot of sound design elements that are pretty cool in that one ambient track, and that seems to be the focus of a lot of your arrangements. On that level you've got some cool shit. Some of the drums do sound pretty stock, but it's mostly the ride/hat/cymbal sounds. I think you have some original ideas, you just need to explore outside the genre you're in right now and find a more unique sound for your productions. If you'd like some inspiration, I'd recommend checking out acts like Ancient Method, Balam Acab, oOoOO, Ital Tek... your sound design track already has a kind of grimy industrial sound that teeters on horror house, so you might as well try incorporating some contrasting kinds of sounds in there to mix it up and take that somewhere new. Even still, I don't see why you're not good enough to remix at your current skill level. Production is certainly fine, and in the end, oc remixes are more about the arrangement (as sometimes questionable productions are allowed through because the arrangement is really good). In fact, trying to remix something forces you to incorporate elements you normally wouldn't--namely, the source melody, and having building an arrangement around that.
  20. In their defense, though, Daft Punk aren't composers. Something entirely different from the Hollywood norm was never in the cards. Daft Punk has produced dance and electronica their whole career, and in some ways they have shaped what the norm has become for that genre. In addition to that, most of their influences are pop, and you have to take into account the fact that this is a major movie release with a lot of money involved. If Daft Punk tried something crazy, they'd most likely have their score rejected. This was a huge opportunity for them and they probably weren't in a position to be breaking Hollywood rules, especially when Hollywood is paying them. I don't think they were chosen for the score on a whim. They're a well known act that brings the "electronica" label to a film that's whole appeal is that it takes place inside a computerized world and has a super sleek, electronic / neon production design. I'm not trying to say you were expecting something different from a typical Hollywood score with some electronic influences in the first place... I just wanted to point out that even if Daft Punk hadn't done the music, which is what everybody was so excited about, this score might have ended up sounding pretty similar just because of the forces at work. Either way, there's certain tracks on this OST I really love. The arpeggios are particularly awesome.
