  1. Also have to chime in with the "it's out?" comments. This one was around before my project was ( or at least, around the same time). is all I can say.At least we finally get to hear it all. That alone is worth the wait, right?
  2. What's the deal with getting other karts in this game? Is it like Mario Kart DS where you unlock them by completing challenges/cups, or like Mario Kart 7 where you have to randomly buy parts and customize the karts?
  3. They hired some comedian to host the press conference (I think it was the Ubisoft one?) and he kept doing that whenever they went to a video clip. It went from weird, to funny, to annoying, to funny again, back to annoying, and then ended somewhere around "jesus fucking christ, why is this not over yet?", all within an hour. One of the more memorable moments from E3. But not as good as "won mirriion twoooops" guy. Still the best.
  4. Since this is pretty much the de facto pokémon thread, this would be a good time to post this list of Pokémon games that will be affected by the Nintendo Wi-Fi shutdown that is coming up. http://i.imgur.com/vd7wt2d.png This does not mean, however, that local wireless communications are going to be shut down. Local wireless only requires you to the DS/3DSs own wireless on. AGAIN: playing someone face to face will work as long as your DS does, it's only internet wireless that is being shut down. Local = fine, internet= no. If you have any interest in using these games online, do so now.
  5. It's a key ingredient for ruined nostalgia. Really brings out that hint out pathos and entitlement.
  6. Except it doesn't do that at all. Those could very well be early versions of the animation they show for the opening credits. They could even be one-off animations made specifically for the show they aired on. There was no indication that it was in-game battle animation, nor a part of the game itself. This was kind of Nintendo's chance to wow us with what Game Freak has been working on all these months since XY came out in October. Six months later, and all they had to show for it was something that a decent prankster could have whipped up for their fake announcement on April 1st. I'm really hoping they release more to show how far along the game is, because for some of us (maybe even a tiny bit of myself), this would have been the perfect chance to show that the remakes aren't just something they tossed out to make a quick buck. They better have more than that to show over the next few weeks, because as first impressions go, this one didn't impress at all.
  7. Pretty much how I'm feeling after that wait (yeah, it was only like, two days, but still): http://i.imgur.com/rL2GcF0.png
  8. Stream from Japan, even has a handy-dandy countdown. Hopefully will also have 100% no-fucking-guy-talking-over-the-stream, because no ONE EVER FUCKING WANTS THAT.
  9. Wait, slight error in my last post about first footage from Japan. It's not Sunday, it's Saturday. As in, tomorrow morning for most of us. It will air in Japan at 3:30 p.m. PDT/ 6:30 p.m. EDT in the US.
  10. First footage to be shown this Saturday. http://i.imgur.com/bMcI7Ex.png http://www.serebii.net/index2.shtml
  11. Well, not even 24 hours since the announcement and people have already started the new meme. http://i.imgur.com/Pui893z.jpg
  12. Cryogonal is from Black and White, 5th gen. But it's still cool. Red and Blue were buggy and underwhelming in graphics and sound. There were older titles that did more and did it better. Gold and Silver were more polished, but still not up to what the system was capable of. Ruby and Sapphire were just insane compared to the last games. They were better looking, sounding, playing and feeling. The technical aspects (stats, battling, breeding, etc.) were overhauled and refined, and are still the basis for all the away up to X and Y. Sadly, even though Diamond and Pearl refined the series even more, it wasn't as big a jump, so it felt more like gen 3.5, a hold-over until the next proper games came out... which were the remakes of Gold and Silver. And we all know how 5th gen and 6th gen turned out, as they're fairly recent. So really, it's not surprising that some of us are very interested in these remakes, while still being somewhat cautious. Will it ruin what we remember of the old games, or will it be just a big leap in quality as the originals? At this point, we don't even know anything other than the titles. Don't fuck this up, Game Freak. I'm going to Japan next year, and I know where your office is located. I'm a big guy with nothing to lose!
  13. You started your post with "Seriously?" like you think the topic was a joke, then you say "desperate" and "pushing it [...] til we choke on it." Follow up with a snide comment about "tossing money at" instead of "buying", like it's a waste of money. You can see why your comment caome off a little negative.
  14. I kind of want this, mostly because 3rd gen was my favorite, but at the same time, they really have to offer something besides "hey, remember 2004? Wasn't that great?" with a fresh coat of new engine. The video says "explore a dramatic new world", which means...? Are we talking new as in they added a little bit more to Hoenn, or they completely redrew the overworld map so there are new areas and cities, or it's not even taking place in Hoenn any more? I'm actually curious to find out. Hopefully it will be a proper remake, even better than what they did with Fire Red/Leaf Green and Heart Gold/Soul Silver. Those ones kept all the great parts while managing to add in some refinements, even a few expansions and out-right up-grades. If Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire can exceed that, then it's going to be great. If this is just a remake with little to no new content, enough to justify the purchase... then fuck it.
  15. Yeah, I vaguely remembered that it was in section4, but I could be bothered to look it up. Perks of being a 9000+ post member. Also in section 4.
  16. I'm preeeetty sure you have to have at least either three years or 3000 posts before you can just start making "I hate something" threads. It's in the user agreement. Section 4. Check it out for yourself.
  17. I just heard that you did some of the music for Borderlands 2: Sir Hammerlock Vs. The Son of Crawmerax (from Extra Remix).

Seriously? BL2 is one of my favorite games ever.

  18. I'm really sorry about not being able to direct this one. I honestly thought I would have the time to do it, but then life reared its ugly head. I honestly thought I could do it, but with work and some minor family stuff, it's basically just a matter of not having enough time to cover everything. I would have been involved in name only; I simply couldn't have put any significant time into this without missing out on work or skipping family stuff. Neither would be appropriate for the sake of what is essentially a hobby. So, who ever takes over, thank you. And to everyone I let down, I'm sorry. I really do wish we could have made it work.
  19. I'm saying this is someone that has never really had any interest in Smash Bros games: I'm buying the 3DS version. Day one.
  20. I just ran the Crystal Ship "B" to victory. It was the luckiest run I've ever had, I think, including all the times I played it before the upgrade. You start with two Crystal guns, and that's nice and all, but then I stumbled upon a Flak 1 cannon. Then I found another one. Then a third one. I ended up selling the two crystal guns because fuck them, I got three flak cannons. Then I was given a Zoltan shield by a Rebel ship I talked out of fighting. I ended up facing the boss with maxed out shields, engines and guns (but sadly, never found a fourth weapon to use, but the three flak guns... holy shit, so powerful), and easily won. I've also gotten really good at unlocking the other ships by concentrating on getting to the last sector. I still die most of the time, but I got all the A and B ships, with three of the C ships unlocked just in the last day or so.
  21. I'm in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. So far, I seem to be the only one. My closest co-members are at least three hours away in Calgary. The next is in Regina, which is like, a 6 hour drive. Fuck that noise.
  22. I still maintain that we should use more of these guys for OCR album art work. We have our own artists, yes, but they're constantly being asked for stuff, and over there we have a giant pool or artists just waiting to be taken advant... given the opportunity.
  23. That seems to be exactly it. There's no technical reason, so it must be a deliberate choice.
  24. We know they're not gone, that's not the point. The point is that removing items between gens shouldn't be a thing in the first place. Without going into the long, lengthy dissection of save data structures and how they are applied to newer values contained within each version and generation, there's no technical reason for not making items transferable as well. It's basically like converting the data for a pokémon from gen 3 all the way up to gen 6 is relatively easy, but even though the data for items is even smaller in size and easily converted as well, it's still not done. I can only think of a possible balance issue for competitive play as a reason. Like, suddenly more people have rare items that could provide an edge in tournaments... but that doesn't really stand up, as those items are available in-game with enough Battle Points. Hell, they give you 10 BP just for using PokéBank the first time, They toss them around like candies. It just doesn't make sense.
  25. Clarification: naming a pokémon is only possible if the Trainer ID number, as well as a hidden "secret" ID number, match that of the pokémon itself. In Black and White (and presumably X and Y now), the player must also have the same name and gender of the trainer that originally caught the pokémon they are trying to rename. There is also evidence to suggest that even if you manage to have all the requirements met, a pokémon transferred from older games will still not be nameable. Sucks, huh? If you somehow were lucky enough to get those requirements (or just hacked your game to get them), then you can rename traded pokémon. So our Flygons (and all other pokes with bullshit censored names) are now permanently unnameable. The only option is to wait until someone makes a cheat for editing your save game, and then acquiring said method and manually changing the name. Which is not likely to happen any time soon, and is something most players don't want to do.
