  1. Definitely digging the old west style. More remixes need to be done in this style. Even though it feels like it's at an incredibly slow tempo, it really doesn't feel too long or boring. I love the acoustic guitar lead and the reverby screaming electric guitar in the background. They play well together.
  2. I think you're being a little harsh. I like it Harmonious.
  3. Man. I wanna hook up with some OCR chicks. Any takers?
  4. I didn't get the impression that they were supposed to sound real at all. If anything, they sounded a lot like the actual SNES strings from the Secret of Mana game. Everything but the drums has that chilled out synthetic feel too it. Even the guitar, which is obviously real, had enough effects to fit the electronic aesthetic. I don't know why, but I really like the drums in this song. They've got a simple organic vibe to them, and the just kinda keep chugging along... especially in the first half of the song... kinda gives a 70s disco feel to the whole thing.
  5. Two funky remixes on the same day? I think I just crapped myself. The slap bass is epic and the lead really tops it off nicely. Production, as far as my untrained ears can tell, is very tight. It almost sounds like it could fit right next to any Top 40 hit on the radio right now... except, you know, this one involves musical talent. Good stuff.
  6. Tonight was waaaaaay too much fun. Makes me even sadder that I can't go to MAGFest. I'll do everything in my power to get there next year though.
  7. No it's not. It's like an Emu from the future sent to kill John Connor. That's awesome. Sinewav is a stupid name. everyone pronounces it like "sinewave" it's supposed to be pronounced "wooooooooooooo" Like a sinewave.... ... ...Get it? *crickets*
  8. ... this might seem like a noobish question, but do I need to download the podcast or tune into radio:thasauce?
  9. Good god. This is my new favorite remix. Period. It's catchy, incredibly funky, and guitar work is damn near legendary. I have nothing bad to say about this.
  10. I miss GrayLightning. Also, I'll actually be able to be here for the OCADeys. My manager decided to send me home from work due to the store being over hours. I know you're all relieved.
  11. Amen to that. If you're not moved at all by the Dragon Song, you probably have no soul.
  12. Sinewav once again forgets that sarcasm doesn't translate well onto internet forums. That was kinda the point... they haven't done a new VGDJ since the beginning of forever. The statement which remarked on "yesterday's" fictitious podcast was meant to satirically highlight the of the lack of recent episodes. Jokes are kinda like frogs. You can dissect them, examine them, and figure out what makes them tick, but chances are they'll be dead when you're done with them.
  13. Very chill. Composition is great. Technically, it's very impressive. I love that you can listen closely and be entertained, or you can just let it sit in the background and soak it in. Definitely has a high replay value.
  14. You're definitely a shoe -in for Best All-Girl K-Pop Metal Remix Evar.
  15. That always looked like a lot of fun. It's basically like Mafia right? I really should get more involved in Off-Top.
  16. Will any of this still be going on after say, 11pm EST? I don't get off work until then.
  17. Lot's of great things to say about this song, but I think it's the bass line that really does it for me. The storm ambiance and the delayed lead really stand out too. The key change feels natural, is well executed, and really helps lift the song up.
  18. Rock with synths. Awesome. Especially the breakdown at the bridge...not sure what else to say except that I'm in love with this.
  19. I'm not familiar with the source, but I love the frantic feel of this piece... and I love how it smoothly transitions back and forth between that and a calmer, relaxed mood. I'm definitely getting some Zelda vibes too, which is always a good thing.
  20. Wow... I just realize, I was only about 13 or 14 when I started coming here. This place has been so influential in the person that I've become... I doubt I would have even put much thought into learning music if not for the awesome arrangements here. For the first few years, I just kinda lurked around, had a few chuckles with a song about groins. Then, I heard this. Changed my outlook on music completely, and made me want to play Chrono Trigger, which... well, yeah, if you've played it, then you know, and if you haven't, drop what you're doing right now and get on that. I remember crying the first time I heard Journey's End. I remember so many times when people were ill and the community banded around them. I remember when Rueben Kee died... I never even talked to the guy, but I felt like I had lost a friend. I guess you could say I knew him through his music. It made me realize how much art (especially music) is part of a person's soul... and not just a hobby or a career path some people take. On a lighter note, one of my favorite memories was years back when it seemed like every other thread was someone complaining about the evil Electronic Arts empire, and how they were going to take over the whole world by buying out every other company in existence. (Okay that's an exaggeration, but it was pretty bad.) Then on April 1st, DJP and crew revealed the new "EA Remix"!... and half the site panicked. And then it seemed just as everyone was finally figuring out that it was a joke, we received a "Cease and Desist Order" from Neil L. Shapiro, attorouney for EA!... and even the people who were in on the first half of the joke got worried because only a handful of people knew that the C&D order was fake too. People were freaking out trying to figure out if it was real. So I changed my screen name to Neil L. Shapiro (back when such things were more acceptable) and confirmed it. Then everyone started dicking around and the whole site turned into an Unmoddian nightmare for a day. Not something that I would enjoy all the time, but it was pretty hilarious that one time. Easily my favorite April Fools prank ever, and pretty much the most fun I've ever had on the internet.
  21. I love how the woodwinds sound so calm, but the drums have this ominous drive to them. Very rock n' roll... the synths are unexpected, but they work really well. Good stuff.
  22. Hot damn. I want a copy of this on vinyl. Personally, I'm really digging the low quality handheld recorder stuff and the chatter in the background, though I'm surprised that it got posted. Judges here really surprise me sometimes (in a good way) Also... Everything this guy said.
  23. More like, why didn't anyone post about it when they found out? All you MAG 08 attendees have failed us.
