  1. Sometimes I wonder if I'm the only hack amateur remixer around here who actually LIKES, having an extremely high standard around here. It means that I have to work at it and make my music better. It would be boring and wouldn't help me grow as a musician very much if everything I pulled out of my ass got accepted. It also means that when I get on here to just to listen to some tunes, I'm almost always guaranteed something of very high quality. Sure there's some good stuff that gets rejected too, but that's what ThaSauce and other sites are for.
  2. Just got the word that Video Games Live is coming to Cincinnati, and I nearly crapped my pants. I went to the Louisville show with some OCR homeboys last year and it was mega-fun. I'm definitely going this year, and it would be awesome to share the experience with some like minded nerds. The wonderfully talented Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra will be performing on Monday, July 27. We could possibly do some hanging out the weekend before if anyone so wishes. I'd have to get permission from the rents, but I may be able to house a few people, and I know my backyard would be epic for some BBQ-style action. So what say you? Anyone interested? 3. Yeah, I'm probably not going to make it either. It was a stretch for me to make it in the first place. VGL coming to my hometown of Cincinnati on July 27 though. I made a thread about it in case anyone who can't make it to Pittsburgh wants to try Cincy instead.
  4. Ah, Ninja Gaiden Black. I knew I left something off of my list. Beat it 3 times so far. I actually payed full price for the Ninja Gaiden, and then turned around and payed full price for Ninja Gaiden Black when it came out. I still don't consider it a waste of money (and this is coming from a guy who ALWAYS buys his games used.) In a somewhat related note, I nearly crapped myself when I saw that Team Ninja was working with Nintendo on the next Metroid. I kinda want to be skeptical about it, but Team Ninja hasn't made a bad game yet, and Metroid Prime pretty much proved that the series is capable of being a lot more than only 2D platformers.
  5. Really? I didn't realize there was a competition last year until I read this thread, and I certainly don't remember signing up for it. Weird.
  6. Maybe I'm confused. I thought this was the list of challenges everyone got.
  7. So can we start remixing now, or are the challenges we got going to change? I'm REALLY digging my source tune.
  8. Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight. When I was but a wee lad, I would sometimes clock over 8 hours a day playing that game. One time, I actually beat the entire game using fists as my only weapon. Killing any of the bosses takes forever when all you can do is punch them. My favorite gaming memories come from that game and it's sequel, Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. Back in the day, I leveled up an entire party to lvl 100 in Pokemon Red, and restarted and beat it over again more times than I cared count. I've also beaten Max Payne 1 & 2, Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion (hey I liked it), Metroid Prime, Geist, Ocarina of Time, Link's Awakening, Seiken Densetsu 3, Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Chrono Trigger, and Resident Evil 4 many times. Since it came out, I've played round or two of Tetris DS most nights before I go to sleep. Super Smash Bros. Brawl never gets old, and Super Smash Bros. Melee has held up pretty well to. In case you didn't feel like reading all that: Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast Pokemon Red Max Payne 1 Max Payne 2 Super Metroid Metroid Fusion Metroid Prime Geist Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening Seiken Densetsu 3 Super Street Fighter II Turbo Chrono Trigger Resident Evil 4 Tetris DS Super Smash Bros. Brawl Super Smash Bros. Melee I probably left out several.
  9. I'm a sucker for rock with violin solos. This is no exception. The stereo back and forth at the beginning was a very nice touch as well. I really need to go to bed, but I just can't stop listening to this.
  10. Yeah, I've got plans that weekend too.
  11. I've always had trouble getting into sports games (wii sports excluded), but it's good to hear that the wii motion plus works so well. I'm definitely looking forward to Wii Sports Resort. I just hope they do as good a job on it as it sounds like the team behind Tiger Woods did.
  12. Certainly well made, but I had trouble getting into it, at least the first time around. Maybe I should try it out again.
  13. I didn't even bother with the third one. Is that bad?
  14. I'm not terribly familiar with it myself, but wasn't the entire DOOM soundtrack ripped off rock songs or something?
  15. I can actually get on board with this statement. It feels like the biggest reason why I can't create quality music recordings is because of monetary limitations. I know how to use protools, MIDI sequencers and all other kinds of DAWs... I know all about signal flow and mic placement... but I can't execute these skills without the proper equipment, which I really can't afford right now. I've got an ancient laptop, and whenever I try to do any kind of recording on it, I spend hours troubleshooting only to get something that is barely worth listening to.
  16. Personally, I enjoy the tangents. Helps make learning a much more relaxed and personal experience. If you're the kind of person who gets lots of good grades and does extremely well in school, just remind yourself that grades aren't everything. If you're more of an average student, you're going to have to make sure you prioritize properly. I think the most important thing you can do in terms of free time and simply enjoying the college experience is not to bog yourself down your first semester. Take a light course load and don't sign up for everything that comes your way. I overdid it when I first started college and that ruined it for me. You'll do much better in the long run if you pace yourself and make time for things you enjoy. (Just be sure not to ignore your studies because of all the fun you're having).
  17. Happy birthday man. Here's to many more years of poontang from asian milfs.
  18. I'll agree with most of the stuff said here about Bale. I loved him as Batman, but he's really not all that great in this movie. All he seems to do is his typical whisper/yell stuff. Wright was an interesting character though. Sure the whole "what is human?" question is a cliche, but it's a good cliche. The movie probably would have been a lot cooler if it had just been about him. Whenever Connor was on the screen, I found myself wishing it would get back to Wright's storyline. [spoilerS] Anyone know how they got Arnie at the end of the movie? I looked for his name in the credits, but never saw it. Did they get a body double and superimpose his face or something? [/spoilerS]
  19. Very nice. I love the groove... I'm sure Groove Bias contributed to that quite a bit.
  20. Played 5 Days a Stranger, and it was awesome. Never got around to the other ones though. How do they line up against the first one?
  21. Hell no. It can cost us upwards of a $1,000. Exactly. Where did you think all that donation money was going? Why do you think GrayLightning left?
  22. Killer robots killed stuff. Heroes killed the robots. Stuff blew up. Pretty much exactly what I was looking for in a Terminator sequel.
  23. Stuff like this is why everyone loves you, McVaffe. ...it has nothing to do with your music.
