My school has a weird scheduling system where you focus on one class per month, but you don't know what it's going to be until a few days before. Long story short, I'm in one of the most intensive, time-consuming classes the school offers this month, and if next month is what I think it'll be... well that will be pretty busy too. Still gonna try to get this song done, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Hilarious! Though I do think it's important to recognize the difference between a music game and making real music. I enjoy both thoroughly. Guitar Hero will never replace a real guitar for me, but it's still fun. I for one would enjoy playing a music game without a console (all I have is Wii )... thought the way he said it sounds utterly ridiculous.

Agreed. Just got done watching it, and it was very moving. Brooke Shields' speech was especially powerful, and MJ's daughter had me tearing up at the end. So sad.

This movie had a plot? I thought it was just 2 1/2 hour commercial for action figures that could turn into vehicles and fight each other. That being said, it was exactly what I was hoping for. Good movie? Debatable. Giant robots kicking ass? Definitely. Had a fun time? Absolutely.

He has a very industrial sounding sound. Reminds me a lot of Nine Inch Nails, but more aggressive. Try starting a Pandora station with both of those artists and see what you get.

That's fine, though depending on where people want to sit, we may have to buy tickets early on. That means that if you don't know until late in the game, you may or may not be able to sit with the group.

Kind of unrelated to the rest of the thread, but prophet's mentioning of flickerfall caused me to finally give in and check you guys out. Just wanted to say that I really like your music, and he's right: you do have a really great voice.

I disagree. Asking kids to download the stuff themselves is a great way to guarantee that everyone won't be on the same page for the first few days of class (days that they could be using to grasp the fundamentals of sequencing, etc). Sure if you distribute a CD the software will eventually become obsolete, but the point of the class is to learn how to make computer music, not how to find and install things on the internet. And besides, as you said, if they're smart enough to understand how to make music on the computer, by the end of the class I'm sure they'll be smart enough to figure how to do something as simple as a software update.

Honestly, right now I'm just trying to gauge interest to figure out the level of formality. I'd love it to be a more formal meetup, but if only a few people show... I don't know of any other events going on in the area, but I don't get out much either. There's the always excellent Kings Island amusement park (however tickets are $32.99/person). There's also a few really nice movie theaters and some pretty high end laser tag arenas around town. I've got a decent sized backyard, and my family and I grill hot dogs and hamburgers back there all the time. I'm pretty sure there's a TGI Fridays (OCR meetup tradition) around here somewhere too. I've got a big TV on which we could play some Smash Bros/other games on as well. If anyone wants to bring Rock Band or something, that could be pretty fun, or we could even bring real instruments and jam (I've got a few guitars and a baby grand piano sitting in my living room). I don't know if/how many people I can board up for the night at my place. I'll have to get with the parents on that. However, there are many, many hotels around the area all of varying price, so if we need to work something out, it should be pretty easy. As far as transportation around town goes, it would probably be best if everyone parked their car wherever they're staying and carpool. I can fit 4 others in my car, and I know how to get to most of the places I mentioned. That way, if we wind up caravaning it up, people can follow me.

Ditto what Ashley said. He's both an amazing fighter, and hilariously incompetent at the same time. This one was probably the funniest episode yet. We should have a weekly time where we all get together and watch an episode. I know a lot of us probably will still watch it the second it comes out, but it would be cool to have a regular get-together time as well. I'm free most saturday nights after 9.

Should I buy this? I've always liked the genre, but the only games I've played that I really felt motivated to finish were Chrono Trigger, Skies of Arcadia, and Seiken Densetsu 3. Random battles are annoying, but I'll push through them if the combat is fun and rest of the game is good enough.

I posted in the other thread that I was skeptical about this game, but after I read this... Well, let's just say I'll be pre-ordering this one.

I'm kinda skeptical about this, but if it does everything they promise, then it will be awesome. Keeping my eye on this one.
