  1. Gonna get a remix accepted. Or ya know... at least finished.
  2. Holy freaking crap.... Ballad of the Wind Fish is one of my all time favorite video game songs and rock/ambient are pretty much my genres of choice when I'm making music. I don't really have any ideas in mind ATM, but I would love to try and do something with that track. I can collaborate too, if anyone wants to. EDIT: This is one of my brother's favorites too... and he's a pretty damn good cellist. Hmm... ideas.... EDIT AGAIN: Ok, now I have a number of ideas floating around in my head.
  3. I usually get something to the effect of "What's an Over Locked Remix?" Apparently, people in Cincinnati can't read.
  4. Girls are allowed to post remixes now!? What's next???
  5. Welcome back. Awesome pics too. Have any of them in bigger sizes? They'd look really neat as desktop images.
  6. FINALLY! A more environmentally friendly Metal Gear! This is exactly what the world has been waiting for.
  7. This. The first part of Satriani's melody is the same, but then it goes off in a completely different direction from Coldplay's. It wouldn't surprise me if that part of the Coldplay song was "inspired by" (aka ripped off from) Satriani's song... but on the other hand, it's a simple enough melody that it would surprise me if Coldplay had never heard the song before and the whole thing was merely coincidence.
  8. wtf r u talking about teh dialog in re is allwayz awsum.
  9. What the heck is up with all these people meeting here and then getting hitched? I wanna hook up with an OCR girl too... Also, congratulations.
  10. So I just got a new job and I feel like spending some money. I was thinking that finally trying to catch up on that long list of OCR artists' original albums might be a fun way to spend a little extra cash, as I've recently been jammin' to Audix's One Day Millennium... problem is, I don't really have a list, so I have no idea what consider. I can't even remember who has original material and who doesn't. So show me what you've got. Maybe I'll send a little money your way.
  11. Personally, I like 'em both, and I really have a tough time comparing the two. They're really two completely different settings, and two totally different purposes in mind. The only real major similarities I see are that the nWoD borrows a few names and some terminology from the oWoD.
  12. I figured I was probably going to get this album anyway, but I just listened to the samples and now I'm definitely sold. Even though I won that digital copy of Origins a while back, I think I'm going to do the 2 CD deal here, just as a sign of support/I liked it enough that I want a hard copy.
  13. Heck yeah. World of Darkness is where the party's at, man.
  14. http://www.obsidianportal.com/ is really great for recording and keeping track of pretty much any and all info about your campaigns, though it's not D&D specific. As far as online role-playing goes, the best I know of is http://www.rpg.net and their "Play-by-Post" forum. It's easy enough to connect with people and get a game going, however, in my experience with it, it's really tough to find players who will stay committed once a game gets going. I'm not terribly into D&D, but it would be fun to get an OCR game going maybe in Off-Topic or an IRC channel.
  15. For casual computer use, I switched from WinXP to Ubuntu/Linux and never looked back. It's a billion time s more usable, and for pretty much every proprietary program you'd normally use on Windows, there's a much better (not to mention free) open source version available for Linux. The only thing making me consider returning to Windows is that Reason 4.0 and EZDrummer aren't Linux compatible, and I can't really find any good alternatives for them. As far as support goes, I usually use the Ubuntu Forums and/or Wikipedia. If I can't find the answer there, it's usually not to hard to find it with a quick google search. The biggest obstacle you're going to reach with Linux is getting used to the un-Windows-ness of it. If you persevere though, you'll find it was well worth the time and effort. There are plenty of great tutorials out there just a google away. Sweet desktop BTW.
  16. I'm thinking about picking up either Rock Band 2 or Guitar Hero World Tour for PS2. I've already got a couple of guitar controllers, but the problem is I'm way too poor to buy the drums and mic. My questions are as follows: Is there a way that I can play the game using a MIDI drum pad and an XLR vocal mic? Is there some kind of converter I'd need to buy? Is it possible without extensive hardware hacking? Is it possible at all?
  17. I think that's a matter of personal learning style. I struggled to "get" sheet music during years of piano lessons, but it never quite made 100% sense to me. Then, the first time I saw a piano roll, it just clicked.
  18. I wasn't trying to say that people shouldn't learn or that you have to be awesome to be allowed to play at all. I'm just saying people should recognize where their skill level lies. Frankly, I'm not particularly awesome on either piano or guitar, but I'm at least somewhat competent. In my experience, most people who claim they can play the guitar pretty well have very little skill whatsoever, and yet they go around trying to serenade all the ladies with their music anyway. They think they are good or at least okay, because most other guitar players around them suck just as bad or worse. The bar is just set way too low. Imagine if you paid someone to come to your bar and entertain people with your music. You'd expect them to be good, right? I don't know about you, but I'd be pretty pissed if they came in and all they could do was play "chopsticks" and a Premier version of "Fur Elise". This is pretty much what goes on with most guitar players, IMO. Nothing wrong with not being very good... everyone's gotta learn somehow. The problem is when you start showing off, and really don't have anything to show off.
  19. Don't forget http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR01313/ Sarah McLachlan's "Ice Cream" and "Possession" have always been favorites of mine for this sort of thing. Also, anything by Colbie Caillat makes me feel like a little girl... even though I'm a 21 year-old-man....
  20. Oh man... I loved this game so much. I am very very temped to audition for it, I'm just trying to decide whether or not I actually have the time. Either way, I'll be looking forward to its release.
  21. That's what she said. Sorry. I tried to stop myself.
  22. Did... I... seriously... just... witness.......... Symphony X playing over a video of a lightsaber-whip weilding Jean Reno who motorcycle-jumping onto a pirate ship, whist a skydiving ninja does battle with dragons, demon samurai, and other mosters who are apparently bloodthirsty for modern professional women and middle-class white suburbia? Holy fuck.
  23. That's pretty slick. If you wanna keep working on it and try and get it into the project, I honestly think you could just change the instruments and leave most of the notes alone minus a few tweeks. I'm hearing acoustic percussion of some sort like hand drums or a rock or brush kit... some B3 organ action for that bouncy backing synth... electric bass or an upright... maybe a piano in there somewhere... and of course leave the strings as they are. Not that I don't like the electronic version. I've listened to it, like, 12 times already. It's just that I think if you can't get it accepted as a single track, you should try and make it work for something else. Even if the final product sounds a lot different than the original, I don't think it would be much of a stretch to make it fit in with the SD3 project. You're really onto something with this one, and I'd hate to see it stranded in someone's "finished songs" folder. It has an awesome groove that really works no matter what the genre is. Even if you don't wanna change that dramatically from the original idea, keep trying to make it fit somewhere it'll get the recognition it deserves. I haven't heard a song with a groove that tasty in a while.
  24. The Seiken Densetsu 3 project "Songs of Light and Darkness" is going to be pretty freaking awesome if we ever get it up to speed. Not that I've exactly been pulling my own weight... Still. I've got some cool ideas for my tracks, and everyone else involved so far seems pretty talented (including sixto with whom I'm collabing *fanboy-geekout*) I adore electronica, but this site really needs more non-electronic remix projects. Orchestral is always fun, but it's not like OCR has any shortage of that either. More rock would be fun. More metal would be excellent. I've had a some pretty unique ideas for a remix project in the back of my head for several years now, but I'm saving that one until I actually know I have the time, energy, and resources to pull it off.
  25. Gotta be careful about those sloppy seconds.
