  1. A couple, maybe three days. But when I say days, I mean most of my waking hours. (When I get rolling with a song, I have a tough time putting it down.)
  2. Hey all. If this is still going on, I'm definitely interested in working on my tracks some more. I'm gonna need some collaborative assistance though, due to my lack of equipment/creative limits. 1-02 Where Angels Fear to Tread: Last I remember working on this, MaliceX and I were looking to add in some guitar wailage. Anyone interested? (btw, is MaliceX still in the project? I didn't see his name listed on the first post.) 2-01 Lefthanded Wolf: This song didn't get much past the idea stage, but it's an idea that I'm really attached to. Unfortunately, I lack the live instrument remixing skills/equipment to do my idea justice. If Sixto is still interested in working on this, I'd loooove to get this song started up again.
  3. Ok. Here's some WIPpy goodness I cooked up just for you guys. (Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as I usually don't posts WIPs until I'm stuck... and I'm stuck.) dodedo... Link to the past: God Bless Ye Merry Gentlemen
  4. LINKAGE: sinewav - God Bless Ye Merry Gentlemen (WIP Uno) For the Dyne's Christmas Project. (JOIN IT NOW.) My biggest stumbling block at this point is I don't know how to make it longer without repeating the same stuff over and over. I'm considering adding some more instruments, easing into some more organic sounding vocals, and maybe a drum and/or synth solo. It kinda irks me when a vocal cover of a traditional song leaves out parts of the lyrics, so I'd prefer to keep it vocally driven. On the other hand, if too much vocals makes it too repetitive, I'll go mostly instrumental. Issues I'm aware of (but more advice wouldn't hurt): 1) Drums need some variation. (But I suck at drum programming. Any suggestions?) 2) Too much flange on the vocals. Need to lower the frequency to about 200Hz to make more room for the kick drum. 3) Lower freq modulation on the bass synth. 4) Vocals can be a little off rhythm at spots. (I'm going to re-record it to be less sucky.)
  5. Yeah, I never quite understood some people's attraction to muscular women. Chun-Li was OK looking though. Probably one of my favorite fighters in SF2 Turbo.
  6. I think I just wet myself. In my pants. If the game looks half as good as the trailer, I can die happy.
  7. Articulation: Check. Helpful advice: Check. Newbie Voicing opinion on Non-Remix Board: Check. (We need more people to post in here!) Welcum too teh OHSEEREMICKSEs Cree.
  8. Alrighty now. I decided to ditch O Holy Night and take a stab at Come Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, and I think I may actually be getting somewhere with it. Gimme a day or too, and I think I'll have something WIPable, assuming writers block doesn't hit again. Also, I think I'm gunna take a stab at singing Random Hero's Mary Did You Know. I've always been surprised that with such a strong melody, no one has done a not-corny version of that song. It's worth a shot anyhoo...
  9. Not bad, not bad... the drum track is especially nice. Overall, it's got a nice sound to it, though it starts to drag and get repetitive pretty quick. Experiment with the tempo a bit and see how it sounds. Also, if you can't find the right soundfont for the violin, try putting a little bit more reverb on it and see if that helps. Good job overall though. Keep working on it. It sounds great so far.
  10. QFFE. Where the heck is he? Why hasn't he posted this yet? We need to sit him down and make him do this at gunpoint.
  11. This might sound like a stupid question, but does this change anything? What I got out of the article was that Blizzard would simply be stamping their logo onto Activision games, and vice versa. What's the big deal?
  12. I love how this thread totally got jacked (or at least half-jacked) by posts about how awesome The Coop is. I agree with all of them x100.
  13. I heard that game has you killing people if they won't convert. Sounds fun if it's true.
  14. I agree that there is a lot more to the 360 than just Halo 3. It's a stong system with a lot of other good games. But the question is, if it weren't for the success of the original Halo game, would the 360 ever been made? Even if it had would it have been as successful? Personally, I don't think the 360, or the original XBOX would have seen anything near the commercal success that they're experiencing now if it weren't for the Halo series. Even though at its release, there were a lot of 360 fans in spite of having no Halo game, I'd be willing to bet there'd be a lot more people who just didn't give a frick about the next XBOX, if it weren't for the Halo series getting them hooked in the first place. I don't have the numbers in front of me, but I'd also be willing to bet that the release of Halo 3, even though they took their time with it, was a huge sales booster for 360 consoles. So I go on to make my point that Microsoft wouldn't be where it is today in the console market if it weren't for Halo. Duh. Disclaimer: Don't label me an XBOX or Halo fanboy, because frankly I could care less about either. Still, you can't ignore the impact that both of them had a significant impact on the overall popularity of console gaming.
  15. Is that really a bad thing though? I'm all for ripping off a mishmash of other games, as long as they make it fun. Look at Halo. There was really nothing original about that game, and yet most everyone loves it.
  16. Niiiiice. Very nice. I love vocal remixes. This is a prime example of exactly what this site needs more of. Any chance you could post a midi file of this somewhere? I've been wanting to pick up playing piano again, but music that catches my interest is hard to find. I'd love to learn to play this.
  17. This game doesn't call for a remix project.... it calls for a full-fledged Cheetahmen rock opera, AMIRITE?
  18. Holy crap. I consider myself a fan of both Sixto and Seiken Densetsu 3, so I expected this to be good, but not THIS good. The rhythms are head-bangingly good and I cannot picture the leads being played in any way other than in a power stance or on the floor convulsing. This doesn't diverge from the original source tune much, nor does it need to. The piano was also a nice touch. Instant favorite. Easily one of the most air guitar worthy songs on the site. You get a lot more out of this song if you have long hair. If there's ever an OCR version of Guitar Hero, make sure this is on it.
  19. Arek, I know how you feel. I can never seem to find those comforting words when something like this happens... but right now, I can't even find the words to express how I feel. I wish there were a word bigger than tragedy.
  20. Oh dear lord... I've always wanted to go to this, but this year looks like it's going to be amazing. That JamSessions thing looks extra sweet. I've gotta find a way to come this year...
  21. Gotta go with sephfire on this one. My parents are the same way. In fact, my mom always talks about "what beautiful music" I always make (an exaggeration IMO), and yet, she still never has kept up any kind of active collection of my recordings. Just an assumption based of my experience with my parents, but here's something to think about: I'd be willing to bet that if Reuben was as good as a pianist as he was, he'd probably practiced since he was young. This probably means that his parents not only encouraged it, but loved hearing him practice. If anyone here has other musicians in the family, you know just how empty the house feels when they aren't around to play their music. I've heard many parents of musicians (especially pianists) say time and time again that when their kid moved out, one of the things they missed the most was hearing them practice... and half the time, it's just the kid playing Chopsticks or the beginner's version of Fur Elise over and over and over again. Imagine getting used to regularly hearing the skill and emotion that Reuben could convey, and knowing that's your kid. I'd be proud. Originally, I was thinking that a tribute or a video was the way to go, but the more and more I think about it, I'd be willing to bet that a simple mix CD of everything we can find of Reuben's and a signed note of some sort would easily mean more than the world to them. I don't know... what do you think? Just trying to gain some insight to someone I felt close to, but barely knew.
  22. Shoot. I forgot how hard these things were to get started on... Anyone wanna try and collaborate on something? I'm kinda having trouble getting started with ideas. I'm using good ol' Reason 3.0 if that matters to anyone. I'm a usually considered a pretty good singer, especially when it comes to the two polar extremes of pleasant soft music and noisy rock music .
  23. To be honest, I'm a little skeptical about the possibility of completing a good remix project within 25 days. But ah... what the heck. Count me in. It couldn't hurt to try. Besides I'm sick and stuck at home with nothing better to do anyway. This way I'll be doing something constructive instead of wasting time all day. I think I'm going to take a stab at "O Holy Night".
  24. Is there some non-musical way people here can contribute? I'd love to show my support to his family somehow, but I honestly don't think my musical skills would be remotely close enough to do him justice. He really was phenomenal pianist and remixer.
  25. Found out about this last night. I was totally stunned. I never really talked to him, but on the other hand, it's amazing how close you can feel to someone through their music. He was by far one of my favorite remixers, and possibly on of my favorite musicians. My heart goes out to his family and friends. But even if he had never been anything more than an amazing musician, this is still a huge loss. Not to downplay his death, but while it is a huge tragedy, we should also be grateful that the other 17 people from the boat are safe.
