  1. Most people I talk to say Samus is a terrible character because she's too weak. Personally, I think her sheer speed makes her one of the best. It doesn't really matter if your hits aren't that strong, as long as the other guy can't do anything to avoid you. I also like to use Ganondorf. A lot of people say he's bad because he's too slow, but I find that his sheer power makes up for it. If you take his slowness into account and go with a less aggressive approach, he's incredible. I think when it comes down to it, it's not about what character you pick. Sure some of them suck, but ultimately, a good player isn't defined by it. A good player knows the character and the best tactics to use with it.
  2. lol. i thought you were talking about the little bird thing.
  3. Seriously... I don't get this at all... I can program some interesting orcestral rhythms, drumlines, dance beats... but for the life of me, I can't put together a simple 4/4 rock beat. I've been trying to record some fairly straight forward rock songs with my new guitar, but no matter how hard I try, the beats I make are always annoyingly "meh"... even if they aren't supposed to draw attention to themselves. Heavy sections and softer sections alike... nothing sounds good. Any ideas on how I can spice up my beats?
  4. Not bad... I just bought a bunch of crap from Line6 too. Great company.
  5. Quick question though... did the lead guitar at the beginning seem to be playing to a different rhythm at first? Maybe it was just me. Anywho, not a bad thing. It grew on me after a while.
  6. I was actually trying to model the drumming after William Goldsmith (Sunny Day Real Estate / Foo Fighters / The Fire Theft), but I'll still take that as a compliment. Yeah, I actually thought of Foo Fighters' drums when I listened to this. That's a good thing. I personally thought that the drums were the best part of this mix. I wish people would turn up the volume on the drums more often.
  7. Dangit. You have to make it so late on a school night of all nights... well since it's the last one, I'll do my best to tune in one final time.
  8. Man... 2:30. If it was earlier I would, but I have school in the morning . Hopefully I'll catch the final one.
  9. I don't know if that actually qualifies as PLAYING a guitar... Ouch. That's just cruel.
  10. WOW! First of all, I'm exremely impressed that you all wrote and recorded this in one night. I wouldn't expect more than a joke tune in that amount of time. Excellent. I was also very excited to see several of the names of the contributors. You guys are some of my favorite remixers. Secondly, it's a DUET. It's a freaking DUET. Rawk on! a) Shonensamurai, while you have a more pop-ish sounding voice that obviously isn't as polished and well trained as pixie's "voice student" voice, it has a very pleasant sound to it. While there are some major flaws in your vocal techique, I can safely say that you certainly have a fantastic gift that I would like to hear more more of on this site in the future. Maybe even more with pixietricks. Surpisingly, I think both of your voices blend together very well, dispite how different they are. Pixietricks... there's really not a whole lot I can say. I'm a sucker for chick vocals, and your voice is absolutely gorgeous. If I had to spend the rest of my life on a deserted island with only a CD player and a mix CD, you would have at least a few of the songs on there. It's always good to hear another remix from you. c) Everyone else... Despite being a group with such a diverse set of styles, you meshed well. I can easy identify each of your musical "personalities" in this mix, and it is very interesting to see how they combine together to make the final project. Nice work isn't enough. Excellent work.
  11. GAH! Saying that to a thread full of guitarists is like saying "yeah, she kicked me right in the nuts and I think something burst" to any random male. I know. I literally cringed in pain when I read that. FOR SHAME! Yeah I know, I know... I had set it down to listen to something I had just recorded with it. Not making that mistake again. But now that I've embarrassed myself that much, I might as well tell you that I cried after I did it . It felt like I had just had an abortion. Fortunately, it was only a $250 guitar. I miss being able to play it though. I actually almost bought something from the Ibanez RG series instead of the Les Paul. Besides being a lot less expensive, I loved the clean sound, as I do on most Ibanezes (is that how you spell it in the plural?). The Les Paul won out on over all versatility in sound though, so I went with that. Next time I run across $200, I'm probably going back for it.
  12. Ya know what? I never posted info on my gear except for the stuff I just purchased. I have a several guitars... for electric, as I stated earlier, I have an Epiphone Les Paul Standard and a Line6 Spider II 1x12. I used to have an Ibanez DTX-120 Destroyer, but the neck snapped in half when I left it on the floor, and accidentally stepped on it. It didn't even go out in a cool way like getting smashed or something... It was a good guitar... For effects, I use a combination of the amp effects and a DigiTech RPX-400. For acoustic, I play an Ovation Balladeer Special (can't find a picture). I usually just play it unplugged at home, and if I have some kind of gig, I'll just plug in clean into the sound system. I used to use some sort of discontinued Carvin amp (which was very good), but the sound started cutting out on me. That's the last time I buy something like that used.
  13. Um... have you heard my remixes? I play guitar in all of them. I just looked them up... I've never heard these before. Not sure how missed them. Now that I've heard them, I have to say that they are both quite enjoyable though. I love celtic music, and that Kirby one was fantastic.
  14. Ha. Yeah... you're a geek. I do it too though. That song "Dance Dance" by Fall Out Boy always make me think of DDR and Fallout.
  15. Weird, Taucer... after all this time, seeing you sig almost everday, I never realized that you played guitar... Good luck with that saving. When you get it, make some remixes with that Taylor so we can all hear it's beautiful sound. I have no idea what you're talking about... can you explain a little better? I personally use a Shure SM57 plugged into my computer's 1/8" mic input. Doesn't sound too great, but the peice of junk won't run any of the real equipment that I buy.
  16. Epiphone Les Paul Standard Line6 Spider II 1x12 Check these out, I just got them last night. I'm pretty excited. They play together beautifully. I have no idea what in the world to do with all those effects though. Most music I hear is either distorted or clean. I have no idea what to do with the flange, tremelo, etc. So does anyone else here play? What kind of gear ya'lls got?
  17. re-bump. I can't seem to log into my account at vgmpulse. I tried the forgot password function, but it says that my email address isn't in the database.
  18. I used to love this game as a kid... very addicting. Anyway, gotta say I love the mix. It's rather repetitive, but not in a bothersome way. I like the beats and the arps in the background. The sudden tempo change kinda toke me by surprise, but I think it worked pretty well. I also like how it subtly speeds back up. Good job!
  19. Man... I ordered my shirt back in August, and I had already given up on it ever getting here when it showed up at my door on Friday. Took its darn time getting here, but I'm happy now. I got lots of comments on it when I wore it.
  20. Doh! I completely forgot about that. I suppose this thread is kinda doomed if the avatar structure/size change with the new forum... That's too bad; I should've thought of that before making this topic. Dubble-yu. Tee. Eff. New forum? What the heck are you guys talking about? Sorry to go off topic, but it looks like I've been hiding under a rock. Anyone care to explain this to me? (PM is probably best so the thread doesn't derail.)
  21. I posted a review of this nearly a year and a half ago, and I gotta say, the novelty of this song still hasn't worn off. If I got stuck on a desert island and could only bring with me a CD of 10 remixes, this would still be one of the first ones to go on the disc.
  22. I just about cried when that organ-sounding thing came in... Kind of a Hammond B3 sound ya know? This song is amazing... I really am speechless. I can't think of words to describe how cool and well put together this is. Battle with Magus is one of my favorite vg tunes too, so I suppose that helps a bit. 10/10. Easily.
