  1. Too lazy to google for it, but if Noteworthy Composer is still around, you might want to check it out. I've found it to be particularly good for that kind of thing.
  2. One thing that no one has really mentioned (except for Moseph, briefly) is an increased ability to listen to music critically. Now this could easily be argued either way, but I personally believe that Guitar Hero and Rock Band help with this. Musicians often make comments on music like "That's a tasty bassline," or "I love that little vocal flair." You'll rarely hear non-musicians talk like this. That's because they don't listen to individual parts and (consciously or unconsciously) analyze music like we musicians do. I think that playing Guitar Hero or Rock Band, while it's still no substitute for actual music skill, allows the regular old laypeople to start developing the beginnings of a musician's mindset toward music.
  3. I fail to see how that's different than the console games. 99% of all the games released are forgettable at best.
  4. PC gaming isn't dying. It just looks that way because console gaming has gotten so popular.
  5. I am so tempted to rick roll everyone. Of course, that would probably be considered "abuse" wouldn't it? EDIT: Why isn't this thread in Announcements?
  6. I always see this game in the used games bin and come really close to dropping the 2 bucks on it, just because I figure a 16-bit version of Aerosmith HAS TO BE pretty amusing. I enjoyed this remix. Definitely not Jredd's magnum opus, but it's certainly entertaining. I, for one, always appreciate whenever a remixer finds a tasteful use for the otherwise gawdawful "HEAVYGUITAR" sample. That and the liberal use of in-game voice samples are what made this mix work for me. I figure there are two kinds of cheese: good, fine cheese and smelly, moldy cheese. This remix is the good kind of cheese. There's enough of it to make you constipated, but it is nonetheless tasty and satisfying.
  7. There's an indie film called "The Stratosphere Girl" that I really enjoyed. I'd highly recommend it if you can get your hands on it. It's about this girl who randomly packs up and goes to Japan. She starts to investigate this "mystery" and illustrates it in the form of comics. The thing is, you're never quite sure if what you're seeing on screen is "reality" or the main character's over-active imagination filling in the blanks. The whole movie has this calm, yet disturbing tone.
  8. MUST. PLAY. THIS. GAME. NOW. *drool* Most of the characters I actually cared about are back, and I'm excited about so of the new choices. I'm a bit disappointed with the lack of colors for Sonic, but other than that, this looks amazing. Is anyone else interested to see how the Pokémon trainer plays? It's certainly an interesting concept for a Smash character. I doubt it'll be my first choice, but it could potentially be pretty fun.
  9. "We were very clear with all of our suppliers that we would not tolerate unfair pricing for our Canadian customers." Wal-mart is out to defend the people. How noble.
  10. Fricken awesome. I'm gonna have fun with this. NiN remixing contest anyone?
  11. I still want an OCR3-tan blow up do... I mean, plushie.
  12. Meh. I don't care for either team enough to bother watching. That and the rest of my family is watching Tivo'd Friends reruns right now. TV Commercials altogether stopped being funny at least 2 years ago, which was the only reason I used to watch the game. I'll watch em on Youtube if there are any recommended ones.
  13. Seriously guys. Most new favorite thread evar. EDIT: Wizards in My Armor (Warrior in My Long-Johns). Nuff said.
  14. Man, these birthday threads are a great way to get your postcount up... uhh... I mean happy birthday Fusion.
  15. Good find. It's always interesting to read about the lives of skilled musicians who aren't particularly popular in the mainstream market.
  16. Must have missed that one. Care to fill me in?
  17. Kindness? I think it's more a hint of intelligence than anything.
  18. OK, I gave GIMP a shot, and I've found that just about everything said so far is true. Annoying interface, but it seems very powerful. Seems to serve my purposes pretty well, but it's already crashed three times... eh. I'm still going to give Paint.NET and Paint Shop Pro a try, though I think I'm going to stick with something freeware because of the money issue. Anyhoo. Hows abouts my new sig?
  19. For a while now, I've really been wanting to do some geeky Photoshop stuff like make forum sigs and add Lightsabers to pictures... problem is that Photoshop is hella expensive, I'm dead broke, and I have too much of a conscience to pirate it. I googled "Photoshop Alternative", and came up with approximately 14 bajillion different freeware programs. Suggestions?
  20. So will there be a chance to sign up later? I'd like to give this a go, but I'm starting school soon, and I'm not sure how busy I'm going to be. Sorry if this was mentioned earlier. Didn't feel like reading through 9 pages of "Count me in!"
  21. friendlyHunter... awesome Kirbies. I love the Bioshock and Majora's Mask one. I didn't recognize the last one though. What did you use to make them? ArtRage?
