  1. I'm not calling FLStudio God's program here, but there is no need to make loop based composition unless you want to be lazy, and you can make music in the key of Z if you wanted to (I made a song that changes keys every four chords). The only thing holding you back from getting FLStudio is your dislike of piano roll (personally I prefer sheet music over piano roll, but I refuse to learn a new program after almost a year of using FLStudio). So yeah.../useless relevant post Slight correction. He said time signatures, not key signatures. And yes, when compared to a sequencer with built-in music notation, FL is a bit more tricky in terms of getting your changes in. Possible, but tricky. Ok, so now my post is entirely irrelevant.

  3. You did Impulse Prime in 32 bit float, did you not? Sorry, just a random question sort of relating to the problem.
  4. Well, let's see here... Those strings are a little too slow for what you need to do, same with the synth that comes in. It's very predictable in progression...you should throw a nice minor chord in as your third chord. Just for kicks. It could just be me, I'm a sucker for odd chord progressions. Personally, it's not something I would listen to. It's kind of cluttered in terms of what sounds you use...they kind of clash with each other. There is too much stuff in the foreground, not enough in the background. Hope that helps!
  5. Aw, but that's the point. Haha, it's ok though, I'll find something a bit calmer... Thanks for the info, too.
  6. ...ok, what's the difference here? Quantum Leap Brass AKAI S5000 Quantum Leap Brass ROLAND Quantum Leap Brass KURZWEIL Quantum Leap Brass EMU They're somewhere about halfway down the page. Nice find Zircon! I hope I'll be able to buy some...
  7. A life. Any program can help you make bad music.
  8. Or, if you have FLStudio, go to "Scores", then to "(FPC?) Drumloops" then into "Rock Drums". Then import a couple beats. Hehe, I know it's cheating, but sometimes the loops can be pretty cool.
  9. Rumpelrausch Taips NuBi LE DirtBag LightBag II Oh, thank you.
  10. Alright, here's a strange one...does anyone have a progressive rock organ soundfont/sample/vst? I know the Sytrus plugin has one....but it isn't very close to a progressive rock sound.
  11. rudeboy, never post again. Ever. Either way, just turn down the attack (maybe to about 15 or 31) and you won't hear the tounging at the beggining of the notes.
  12. Well, for those who still may need help, I think all you have to is go under one of the channel's tabs(Misc. if I'm not mistaken...) and click "envelope". This only works for wavs and mp3s, though. For soundfonts or anything else, it does nothing.
  13. I would go listen to the BBC's theme. Thats the British Broadcasting Commision, to all you Americans. Their theme is all synthy and stuff. They use it all the time, from 10 seconds between programs to several minute long background music. Either that, or something like the Mazda commercials (I think those are the ones) With the very soft drums, very light, thin, reverby piano (with many neutral chords) and the bass slighty louder, which sounds something like www.sf2midi.com 's "upright bass" sample. Good luck.
  14. As far as I know, OC is right. You need to know more about the commercial first. You're not going to make the same music for a fight AIDS as you are for a McDonald's commercial. Find out more about the commercial first, thats my bet.
  15. I think the last time OverCoat answered this he said Tools > Enable MIDI Output. I don't know though, I've tried it and it didn't work. I just send samples to the channels to get sound.
  16. I will have an update later on tonight, with recorded guitar and a completed arrangement. Edit: updated.
  17. What all this boils down to is personal opinion. Audity: There is no need to ask for opinions and then try to defend yourself. You want to start a site like that? Start it, don't worry about other people's opinions. Maybe some audiophiles will tag along with you and help you in the making of the site and other things for it. But remember: you will be seeding the files yourself, along with maybe a few other people. This is going to take up your computer's speed and you may constantly get comments like "Can somebody please seed this file" and such like that. But go right ahead and make it. If the idea doesn't take off, then use the site for something else. Good luck!
  18. It seems Geoffrey has an obssesion with attacking people with spatulas. Man, that's rough V___.
  19. Recently turned 16, but most of my mixes date back to the first months of me being 15. Wow, there ARE a lot of young mixers here...
  20. What you CAN do is save every track as a fruity loops score file (from piano roll) and just open them back up again later. I used to do that, the only downfall is that you can't save the effect, pitch bends, tempo changes, etc. Hope that helps.
  21. Not 6/4. 12/8. Precisely. Now, sine we are on the subject of meter signatures, I want to see if anybody can guess the meter signatures in this song: http://doulifee.com/prc/Orc/ORC43/ORC43_Chavous_-_Jestoslounge.mp3 I'll just warn you: they are insane meters.
  22. A mix I wrote for ORC was in strange time signatures....I can't even really write it out without typing the whole song out. And I recently wrote a short, 45 sec. song in 11/48 (2/4+3/16), just to prove to someone that I could.
