Zero Punctuation (Hilarious) Game Reviews

Little Big Planet Pretty good one again this week. -
It's a good game. It has a decidedly "Euroshmup" feel (a life bar, some inertia on the ship, weapons that start brutally weak, rather long, etc.), but the graphics are well done, the music is good, and the challenge level is pretty tough. It's worth $10 to be sure. Just don't forget to grab the patch so you can adjust the controls to your liking.
-
The Wii version has some rather odd control setups (no classic controller option, wiggling the controller to throw a grenade, etc.), and it's missing a few minor things in the game (boss flashes namely). The PS2 version has all the stuff from the original games, yet it has load times between scene changes (some less than a second, some about three seconds), and the controls possibly have a little lag (about 1/4 second on the first game, less on the ones that follow). The thing is, not everyone experiences this control lag, so that's an oddity. Oh, and the Wii has some load times as well, but it seems to be a lessened amount. I have the PS2 version, and it's quite good... better than the Wii version overall. The load times are a shame, but they don't break the game. None of the home versions of MSA are perfect, but I think the PS2 one wins out. Skip the PSP version altogether, as its load times are horrendous.

Kind of, but with Sonic 3 & Knuckles, you can get everything at your disposal from the start, instead of having to choose a half (unlike RE2). Also, each game has it's own levels and music, so there's not much overlapping going on between the two (which is why the combined game is so big).
-
Supposedly, Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles are two halves of the same game. Sega wanted to make a big Sonic game, but what they wanted to do was simply too ambitious to fit in a single cartridge (something about the needed cart boards of the day being too expensive to hold everything in one cart). So, they split the game in half, and made each one playable on its own (different endings, 7 chaos emeralds each, etc.). So yes, each game is it's own entity, and can be played through like any other complete game. But when you plug them together, then you supposedly get the full experience that Sega was going for originally.

Here are a few titles that might get overlooked for potential airtime... -=Genesis=- Thunder Force III Thunder Force IV Whip Rush Streets of Rage TMNT: The Hyperstone Heist Castlevania: Bloodlines Elemental Master Ghouls 'N Ghosts M.U.S.H.A. Master of Monsters Super Fantasy Zone -=Sega CD=- Soul Star Lords of Thunder Stellar Fire -=Some other individual tunes=- "Flood of Power" from Midnight Resistance (Genesis) "The Habam" from Red Zone (Genesis) "Ending theme" from Batman (Genesis) "Last City" from Sword of Vermillion (Genesis) "Staff Roll" from Phantasy Star IV (Genesis) "Prarie" from Devilish (Genesis) "Take It Easy" from Herzog Zwei (Genesis) "Back To Square One" from Herzog Zwei I'd also add Shadow of the Beast and the Turrican games on the Amiga. Great soundtracks there. You can find the Genesis tunes on Project2612.org (use WinAmp + ChipAmp to either play them, or export them to MP3 if you wish), and the Amiga tunes can be found on Amigamusic.com in MP3 format, or on www.exotica.org.uk/wiki/UnExoticA in a different format that needs something like Deliplayer 2 (which retains the stereo of the original Amiga tunes, unlike what's on Amiga Music). And finally... http://thecoop.110mb.com/remixes.html ... some remixes I've made. They range from piano solo, to 80s/early-90s electronica, all done in Music Creator. Yeah, self pimping isn't always looked fondly upon, but ain't no one else gonna pimp them

... Better be one hell of a discount if it appears used. And I demand that "shipping" be altered to "shitting" for all TP products on Amazon.

Hope they don't start doing this with toilet paper.

Gears of War 2 Pretty good one. And for those who were stuck on the accent last time, be sure to read the last part of the credits. It's intended just for you guys. Oh, and be sure to read it from behind a chest-high wall. -
Awesome Nonsensical Lines from Games/VG Music

"What's going on with you?" "Hello." "Farewell." "Good day." ... all done in the exact same voice. -
Useful? Likely not. But who could resist having a degree that says "The trustees of UC - Berkeley, by virtue of the authority invested in it hereby confer upon **insert name** the degree of Associate of Zerg Rush with all the rights and privileges pertaining thereto", with all its underlined areas being done with "^_____________________^"... and getting to join the Honor Society of ΚΣΚΣΚΣ?

ohhh.. its the same game just easy system had a different versions of it... lol Im a noob. Thanks though ... was a much better game, though. The Genesis version of the fighter was painfully basic for a fighter of the time, and even though they did a decent job with the graphics, the Genesis could have done much better aurally, animation-wise, and gameplay-wise. IMHO of course.

Well. That first one was certainly some good old fashioned nightmare fuel. While not quite oldschool, it's still one of the best 32bit commercials made in my opinion... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmxRHiNhlYM

Another story. This one's a bit shorter than the last two. Back before I got my Genesis, while my Atari XEGS was still my main gaming system, I had a small, three-drawered night stand that I used to keep stuff in... including the games for my XEGS. At the time, one of the games I played a lot was Choplifter for the XEGS. It wasn't the best port to be sure, as it only had a single level, and the goal was to rescue as many of the 64 hostages as you could. After that, the game ended. Still, it got a lot of use, until it disappeared one day. I spent a week looking all over my room for it, but it never turned up. I knew I hadn't taken it to anyone's house (only one person I knew also had an XEGS), so it had to be in my room. Despite that, it was gone. I sulked a bit, and eventually got over its loss for the most part. Then one day, over a year after it vanished, my Mom wanted to use that small nightstand, so I had to clean it out. I took out out each drawer so I could empty them, and that's when something in the back of of the nightstand's insides caught my eye. Pressed up against the interior back side, sitting on a small ledge guide that kept the top drawer in place, was a small, gray shape. I reached in, pulled it out, turned it over, and found myself staring at the Choplifter artwork on the front of the cartridge. I ran out into the living room, holding the game like a trophy, and proclaimed "I found it!" like a little kid. Needless to say, I was stupidly happy, and I played it for like two hours straight, over and over again. I have no idea how it fell behind the drawer, let alone how it stayed up against the back of the nightstand's interior like that. I mean, it was there for over a year. Regardless of the hows and whys, it's a memory that's stuck with me for a while, simply because I was so happy to find it.

I believe he was just parodying the accents he poked fun at early on in the review. -
