  1. I've been working on a new EP with lots of chiptune elements that will be releasing in December. I thought I'd share a little sample of it. The EP will be a mix of chiptune elements, acoustic piano pieces, ambient electronic music and analog synths. Hope you guys like it! I'll be updating pretty regularly on my channel as we head to release. Hope you all are having a great day!
  2. Did a very short soundtrack to an arcade game I'm currently working on with my programmer. I used an NES soundfont. Granted these are only demos even by 8 bit standards. Anyone with skill in 8 bit chiptunes please give me tips on making these sound a bit more less muddy. or any other tips on making these sound better, Let me know what you think!
  3. The youtube version is a screen capture of my FL Studio project. The soundcloud link below is the high (much higher quality) quality final mix. I never go for any specific sound I kind of just let the workflow be it's own being in a way. Sometimes I get sort of a retro modern sound, if that makes sense.
  4. Hello! I forgot to post here, so here i go. Made a short chiptune / drum & bass track called Stop. my first original dnb track in years, don't know what else to say. What do you think? cheers
  5. Hi all. I arranged the Heat Man theme from the NES classic Mega Man 2 for 3 classical guitars. Enjoy. By the way, I'm new on OCR and didn't find a topic specifically for instrumental covers. If one exists please let me know and I will re-post. EM
  6. I had the afternoon off this last Saturday and put together this little piece. Thought I'd share. I may work on this a little more since it could use some polish in the mix (I barely EQed this), but I figured I'd put out what I had. I'm particularly proud of the solo around 1:48! Let me know what you think! Enjoy!
  7. A little mix I made to promote my event series, Gamer's Paradise Party. It mixes indie EDM with video game remixes. Hope you like it! Also on Mixcloud if you prefer.
  8. Hey guys, I recently finished up this new little tune in the style of a retro video game. I'd love to hear any thoughts on it.
  9. Hello again, OCR. Finished off 2016 with a new progressivesque chiptune yesterday called Influx. It revolves around a single chord line, which forced me to be creative with progression and arrangement variations. I enjoy doing that kind of stuff, which you might already know, just to see how far you can push something simple and repetitive. Happy New Year! Here's to a 2017 full of music. - Jonas
  10. Hey guys, it's been a while, but I've been busy. I've put together a 35 minute EP of Sonic The Hedgehog remixes from the 8 and 16 bit eras of Sonic called Zoned. The musical style is a blend of Electro-Funk and Retrowave with sprinklings of Chiptune. Included tracks from both 8 and 16 bit versions of Sonic The Hedgehog 1 and 2, Sonic The Hedgehog 3 and Sonic Chaos. Also interweaved into this album are soundbites from the games themselves, excerpts from 90s SEGA TV commercials, and dialogue from various video game documentaries that discuss both the significance of SEGA and Sonic The Hedgehog in the history and develop of video games and video game music. Tracks remixed are: Turquoise Hill Zone (Sonic 2 - 8 bit) Sky High Zone (Sonic Chaos) Star Light Zone (Sonic 1) Hydrocity Zone (Sonic 3) Bridge Zone (Sonic 1 - 8 Bit) Spring Yard Zone (Sonic 1) Underground Zone (Sonic 2 - 8 bit) Casino Night Zone - 2 Player (Sonic 2) Chemical Plant Zone (Sonic 2) It was released in conjunction with RadioSEGA and premiered on Sunday night as part of their Winterfest. If you didn't listen to the show and/or haven't yet grabbed a download, please help yourself. https://opussciencecollective.bandcamp.com/album/zoned Have a lovely Christmas and keep gaming, fellow remixers . Steve
  11. Heyo! Just posted another Chiptune-esque IDM track on my soundcloud. PS: No, zircon, it's not about you :'D I have no idea, tbh it's just a title. Hope you guys like it. Criticism and hate mail always welcome! - Jonas
  12. I was thinking about Phoenix Wright music the other day so I wanted to just go at one and see what I came up with. I don't plan to add anything to it or do anything else to it but if you have any critiques they would still be appreciated for future reference.
  13. How can I embed youtube properly? https://www.youtube.com/embed/gy8FimYSlKA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HctRbRjmtIw
  14. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/34087043/Dance of Decision.mp3 This is an NES (2A03 no DPCM) arrangement of "Corpse Voyage ~ Be of good cheer!" from Touhou 11 - Subterranean Animism. Original: (This video loops the track twice + a fadeout. 1:40 is where the track loops, so you don't have to listen to the whole thing to hear the source fully) I already submitted this to the judges, but in the future I'll probably post tracks here first since this seems like a cool place. While I am looking for general feedback on this track, I'm particularly interested in how much of the source material people hear in my remix; as far as my intention goes, about 2:58 out of 3:38 (about 82% of the whole track) is related to the original. I know that some of the relation to the source might be a stretch unless the listener is actively analyzing my remix, but I figured that a little over 50% of it was fairly obvious. What do you guys hear? .ftm for people who are into that: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3lTDlX2A630dTF4bDRSeDdfb2c/view?usp=sharing
  15. Hello again! This time I'm posting a track that I've worked on for a few years on and off, but was never really happy with the mix until very recently (thanks new monitors and headphones!). It's a chiptunesque idm/edm dance track (as per my usual style) made entirely in Schism Tracker. The title is a bit lengthy, I know XD Probably my longest title to date. Anyhoo, here it is! Enjoy!
  16. Hey Guys/Gals! Posted a weird chiptune yesterday on my soundcloud. Since it's not part of a bigger release or album I'm posting about it here. It's just a short thing i put together in schism tracker. I wrote the piece on piano originally but I wanted to know if it could be "chipified". I might record the original and post it as well at some point? No idea. Anyway, hope you like it. Cheers, Jonas

  21. Hey just got done completing an 8-bit Inspired album called "Powers". BGMS used in the completion of this album goes as following Gutsman Stage- Mega man The Legend of Kage Nemesis Flying Warrior Flying Dragon DrillMan Hard hitting Drums, Fresh flows. If you're looking for some new tunes to make your trunk knock, Please listen and download ! Thanks ahead !
  22. I have been working on music since about 2006 I think. Never had anyone teach me or was in band or anything. Just enjoy doing it and did it for years just to listen to myself. I seem to be unable to really purposely make anything of any specific genre. I kind of just do what I wish and something comes out. Anyways what are your opinions on this track? I think it might be too loud (I always worry because my hearing is bad and I don't have any monitors) but another thing, how can I get a cleaner sound? I have included a youtube and a soundcloud link as I know soundcloud has the ability to download and better sound quality. Some people prefer youtube though.
  23. My latest project. This one was fun and really up beat. All critique is welcomed and appreciated. Thanks
  24. . Today is Marshall Art's fifth anniversary of being a band! To commemorate this, we've gathered up all of the covers we've recorded in the past five years and collected them into a single album. If you've ever wanted to hear Ecco The Dolphin music arranged like a Pink Floyd song (with chiptunes), or Chrono Trigger with elements of Deftones (and chiptunes) thrown in, then we've got the album for you. Bandcamp: https://marshallart.bandcamp.com/album/gallery (pay what you want!) Loudr: http://www.loudr.fm/release/gallery/sC8xq iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/ca/album/gallery/id1127919212 Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Gallery-Marshall-Art/dp/B01HIDV6TA/ Google: https://play.google.com/store/music/album/Marshall_Art_Gallery?id=B2rpezvyhnt4uqdztqcck267dfy Stream the album on Spotify: https://play.spotify.com/artist/3SpBNgs8MrkycLSm306nFb | Tracklist: We've also made a short run of cassette tapes! Each of the 25 copies is individually dubbed onto a different color cassette. The tapes are hand-stamped using custom laser cut wood stamps. The j-cards are all hand painted in color schemes and patterns inspired by the songs on the album. The tapes are housed in orange and black swirl/splatter painted cases. This item is as unique and hand-made as I could reasonably make it, save for hand winding the tapes myself. These will be for sale via our Bandcamp page at noon eastern time. Cassette photos:
  25. Hi everyone! Newcomer to this place in his early 20s that's been into music producing for some time alongside general artistry. I tend to go under the name Plumegeist during the musical escapades and have been involved in a few remix stints. Among other things I've been involved with the first iteration of The Sonic Stadium Music Album (with remixes of For True Story and Sonic Boom as my personal standouts of that time) and I'd also done a few Cave Story remixes way beforehand when I was only just starting out. More recently I did a remix of Shovel Knight's Lich Yard tune. In terms of original works I've produced music/sounds for a few Ludum Dare indie games (Timespunkers, Tipping Point, Royal Jelly Roller), and I've also been involved in music for Homestuck, having been included in the coloUrs and mayhem albums that were released a number of years ago. I've been really wanting to get involved with more music communities and I've had good experiences lurking OCRemix in the past, listening to amazing tracks coming out from incredible artists, as well as having heard great things about the community from friends of mine, so I figured I'd join here. I hope to get involved with some things while I'm here! Anyways, with this topic I was hoping to plug an EP I released recently. It's titled A Solitary Moment and is a 7-track EP made for a very leisurely vibe. (I suppose you could argue with this track amount it could be a mini-album but for me it's only just a personal distinction due to the way I approached it) I highly enjoyed my time making this project and I seemed to have received some good feedback from it. If you're into any variety of some chill house, jazz, chiptune and occasional EDM I hope you too might find some things to like about it! The EP is inspired by those enjoyable times for yourself that you have when you might be out and about, or perhaps having lunch at a local coffee shop, what-have-you. As a preview, here's one of the tracks which was inspired by some jazzy early 2000s-era Capcom games. The EP is available for a pay-what-you-want price on Bandcamp, however it's also available for listen on Spotify and a few other music services. If you have any thoughts about it, let me know what you think! Thanks for your time, and much love <3
