DarkeSword
http://msm.grumpybumpers.com/?p=20 Found this great little article today that gives you a basic primer on some quantum physics concepts along with a demonstration using Super Mario World playthroughs super-imposed over each other. Enjoy.
LuckyXIII
wow... kinda helps me understand a concept that's been rattling around in my head for just such a sci-fi story...
Dhsu
That was a whole lot cooler than I was expecting even after knowing what it was. Also my avatar will fight your avatar, DarkeSword. ROUND
eternal Zero
This is much more amusing to me since I already understand the concept behind it. That and the style of video itself could be quite interesting.
Dhsu
What's the most interesting is how many of the runs overlap EXACTLY down to the last millisecond, for at least 30 seconds or so.
BardicKnowledge
For those of you who haven't seen it, here's Averaging Gradius also.
Antipode
Love to see this done with, say, the original SMB.
Super-Duper Sombrero
What's the most interesting is how many of the runs overlap EXACTLY down to the last millisecond, for at least 30 seconds or so. You know when you're playing on an emulator, and it takes you a couple tried to get somewhere, then you save the state? Each time the Mario splits up, it's all from one savestate. So they're not perfectly overlapped, until a certain spot, it's just one until the savestate. If that makes any sense at all.
q-pa
I wonder how he gets the "camera" to follow only one Mario. In other words, why are there not multiple background instances the way there are multiple Marios and enemies? I guess he's just using the sprite layer and not the 4 background layers. But yes, this is very cool and informative. As he said, it gives us the best of both worlds: the perfect run and the humor of all the attempts. the_muteKi
Love to see this done with, say, the original SMB. Should be possible with All-Stars.
BardicKnowledge
I really like the idea of putting this in the hands of a complete non-gamer and watching the learning process. It would definitely make for an interesting video...
friendlyHunter
Nice video - the fact that he got the camera to follow only one Mario shows it's some pretty impressive hacking, and not just a series of video recordings. Also my avatar will fight your avatar, DarkeSword. ROUND 1 Whoever wins advances to Round 2 against Super-Duper Sombrero's avatar, and then Round 3 with his sig. Arrow
That was insane. Loved it. http://msm.grumpybumpers.com/?p=17 - Here's another one he did talking about whether it would be possible (if you have futuristic tech to do so) to build the type of small spherical planetoids you see in Super Mario Galaxy in a way that would give them normal Earth gravity like they seem to have in that game. DragonAvenger
My brain was melting and learning while watching that video. At the same time.
