Dhsu
http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=56475 http://www.usatoday.com/life/movies/news/2009-06-21-alice-in-wonderland_N.htm And I like how the redblog article mentions American McGee's version. Nerd power! So yeah, to summarize Mia Wasikowska as Alice Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen Anne Hathaway as the White Queen Michael Sheen as the White Rabbit Alan Rickman as the Caterpillar Stephen Fry as the Cheshire Cat Matt Lucas as Tweedledum and Tweedledee Christopher Lee as the Jabberwock Noah Taylor as the March Hare Crispin Glover as the Knave of Hearts Normally I would be spouting the usual anti-Burton spiel like everyone else right about now, assuming this movie didn't look so FREAKING AWESOME. Atomic Dog
I bet if Tim Burton asked Johnny Depp and HBC to make a snuff film he was directing, they'd do it.

MechaFone
^ I knew that. This movie may well be the freakiest movie to be made in some time. I'd go see it just to laugh at Alan Rickman in his silly caterpillar costume.

Thylacine
I had mused to myself that Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince would be "Sweeney Todd 2" sans Depp. I think this movie just took that title. It'll be great art, but we're not going to sleep pleasantly for a few weeks after seeing it. You know Helena Bonham Carter's in all his movies because he's boning her, right?Makes me wonder why Johnny Depp is in almost all of the same ones. Ferret
Probably something to do with his contract, I bet. That and Tim Burton REALLY LIKES puppet people.
Fratto
The same reason why groups of film people always seem to travel in packs. Tim Burton can write for Depp and Johnny will know exactly what Burton wants. Then I imagine that Elfman will do the music because Danny already knows what Burton wants just by reading the script. Then after the movie he'll need a group that he's comfortable with to run a train on HBC. You can't have that kind of chemistry with just any film group. Eulogic
Then I imagine that Elfman will do the music because Danny will make the exact same music he always makes. I fixed it for you.
Ninja-san
To be honest I'm not much impressed by this movie so far. Tim Burton hasn't had an original bone in him for years and out of all the stories he could have chosen from from he chooses the most obvious already Tim Burton esque story and creates the same characters with the same actors in every other film his done recently. I thought at first the Mad Hatter was Elijah Wood and was excited about. I'm a bitter movie person :\

reelmojo
The only way I could be happier about this is if American McGee got involved somehow.

The Pezman
I'm guessing this will eradicate any possibility of the American McGee version being filmed.
