friendlyHunter
For the musically-inclined among us (I'm sure there's one or two), when it's freezing cold, I think of either the overworld music for 600 A.D. in Chrono Trigger or the Frozen Forest (Ice Country) music from Secret of Mana. Somehow, it makes walking in really uncomfortable temperatures a little bit more epic. It'd be cool if I could have actually listened to songs like that during my icy winter school days. Haha, for me it's a collection of Final Fantasy 6 songs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yI0Xuff-duQ&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joRZL671Esk&feature=fvw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iY4Lf3pYKPY&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FpsgQvMnaL0&feature=related And also: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeRQDUxBRes&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GxlXuI98NPw&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNKumgJ_UPY&feature=related I happen to spend a lot of time walking on cold and snowy days. I was just thinking about this very topic yesterday, when something (which I can't now recall) suddenly reminded me of Warcraft 3. I remember now: I was eating a minty chocolate and it reminded me of Warcraft 2, Christmas, and Terry's Chocolate Oranges. I'm pretty sure there must have been a single event that tied those three things together. Probably Christmas.

friendlyHunter
Green Hills + Rails = hey man, let's go save the world, dude, fa rizzle! Tony Hawk? As I walk through the forest while the wind sings to me throughout time... Sorry, I'm not getting your references =P
The Derrit
Tony Hawk?Sorry, I'm not getting your references =P I think he's referencing awesome the hedgehog meaning he's talking about sonic
Elex Synn
Anytime I hear politicians debating, I quite often end up thinking of boss battles in Ogre Battle.
Ajax
Whenever I play Zelda TP, and am in Arbiter's Grounds, it reminds me of the movie North by Northwest, because my sister was watching the movie at the same time I was playing the dungeon. duskvstweak
"A Moment Like This" reminds me of Final Fantasy X because while playing FFX once, I turned on the radio, that song came on, I summoned and attacked with Bahamut and Mega Flare, and it all went in time with the music. That's kind of sad, really. Captain Planet makes me want to play Super Mario World.
1337 1
When I was doing some work on a relative's roof, I had someone telling me some completely obvious statement like "don't step on the structurally unsound parts". I had to refrain from asking "how to turn off the tutorial's in this dumb game".

FF6 does have great background music for lots of random stuff. It's probably why, years later, the game still sticks with me. The Empire theme always makes me think of fire and post-destruction (for obvious reasons). I've fortunately never had need for it personally, but if I were ever in a situation where I or my loved ones/treasured things weren't threatened directly, I'm sure the image would be invoked. When I was doing some work on a relative's roof, I had someone telling me some completely obvious statement like "don't step on the structurally unsound parts".I had to refrain from asking "how to turn off the tutorial's in this dumb game". Whenever I learn something new, I always get this strange feeling that I'm in a video game tutorial. Oddly enough, I never felt it in school. Weirdboyscott
Those yellow / / / / / / patterns on streets that signify an off-limits patch of road reminded me of the ramp notifications painted into the snow in SSX3 for a while. I played that game so much after I got it that those patterns were pretty much burned into my mind. I was in the kitchen one time when my dad was about to make spaghetti, and when he asked for a panlid the first thing that came into my head was "That'll be 300k." Since there's a shield in Maple Story that looks like a panlid.
The Derrit
Another one I have is at drinking tea on an autumn evening reminds me of the very beginning of Warcraft III (expansion i think) where the night elves are going through the forest. Level 99
Sonic and Knuckles reminds me of head staples. This kid I know brought it over one day and he had split his head open and staples closed it shut. Kirby reminds me of getting into fights with my little brother. Bushido Blade 2 reminds me of roller blading with my friends and being general idiots. Final Fantasy VII reminds me of the Disc Doctor, because that's what I had to use to beat the game since I scratched it up so bad during the course of playing it. Final Fantasy Tactics reminds me of bronchitus. I probably played through most of it while home sick. Anything on the gamecube reminds me of an ex-girlfriend who, for the only Christmas I've ever celebrated, I bought a cube for with super monkey ball and some other games. Mortal Kombat 4 reminds me of my mother. She made me return the game after seeing me play it. But she still let me keep GTA...weird. Killer Instinct reminds me of a camp called Road Trip. They had a machine in the lobby when we waited for the bus to come and then for our parents to pick us up after, and I spent my free time honing skills with Fulgore. PROTO·DOME
That song "Dancing in the Moonlight"- or whatever it's called- reminds me of Sonic. I have one of those radio alarm clocks and fell back asleep to that song; for some reason I had a dream Sonic was stuck up a tree looking for his sneakers. True story. Strike911
Every time I see a "max weight limit" displayed in an elevator I think of Metal Gear Solid. Every. Time. Even the rattiest elevators though seem to have at least 2 or 3 times the weight limit from that game though. Even still I'll quietly do some mental math, roughly calculating the total weight of everyone aboard, and determine the number and weight of any optically camouflaged adversaries that may be stowing away. I wish I was joking.

Rambo
My father got the U2 album Zooropa around the same time I got a Zelda: aLTTP... and it was blaring while I was in the second dungeon. Now every time I hear Zooropa or Babyface I get goosebumps because that dungeon freaked me out. Also, SMRPG was the first time I learned the word Amulet.... now that friggen word reminds me of Booster.
Tables
^ Similar thing, Pokemon introduced me to the word Nugget, now whenever I hear about chicken nuggets or gold nuggets or whatever I always remember Pokemon. 5000 bucks woo
MkVaff
This was a long ass time ago - my friend and I were walking down the street and saw a girl wearing spandex pants with what looked like a pixelated mosiac pattern printed on it. I looked at them and told my friend that that girl's textures needed anti aliasing. It was funny at the time.
The Derrit
mcvaffe posted in a thread by me <3 <3 <3 I also have smells that remind me of different games but they're so specific its hard to describe. The only one that I know for sure is the smell of my basement reminds me of Super Mario Sunshine, because I played that game in the basement of my house. It was also my first gamecube game ever.
