Brandon Strader Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 Notice the handle, it can be held on to. I can just see it now, a whole bunch of OCRtists running around with their 25-key MIDI keyboard, making sweet beats and technos in FL Studio. It'd be useful for smaller studios, or use with a laptop or netbook on the go. I wonder if it actually requires MIDI cables though, which probably next to nobody actually uses. Bleck Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 keytar peripheral + possibility of Queen: Rock Band = Bleck is a happy man Quote
Chernabogue Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 Sweet, I like Rock Band and this "keytar" controller idea is great. (Will be able to use my old midi keyboard, yay!) Quote
Thylacine Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 I was thinking a few days ago that it was a shame there wasn't a way to effectively play songs that feature piano in Rock Band. And they did indeed hear the cries of the people. Quote

OceansAndrew Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 I am all over this. If I knew how to edit videos, i'd do some epic synth youtube videos. Live performance of this song? Quote

Guy In Rubber Suit Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 With Mad Catz, we're developing a console adapter, so you would be able to plug in whatever MIDI keyboard you have, or whatever MIDI drum set you have, and then use that to play Rock Band. Nice! I can use my MIDI keyboard then! I'm really curious how the real guitar is going to interact with the game. From the pics I've seen, it looks like it can take a standard guitar cable input, so maybe I can use my own guitar? But from the interview here that really doesn't seem to be the case. Either way, I'm actually pretty stoked about this. Harmonix, I was doubting you at first with your Lego, Beatles, and Green Day Rock Bands, feeling that you were falling into Activision's trap of mediocrity and what do you do? You come out swinging showing that you are the true rulers of the music game genre. Kudos. Quote

I'm pretty sure that a regular electric guitar doesn't send data through a standard output, so Rockband couldn't understand what you're playing on the guitar unless it has a built in processing software to figure out what notes you're playing. JCvgluvr Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 Bohemian Rhapsody was already confirmed. All we need now is Come Sail Away, and I will offer Harmonix my services in offspring production. Quote

Modeled after the Fender Stratocaster, the controller features tech built into the neck and fingerboard of the guitar, making it able to read finger positions in real time. The peripheral will also transfer data for each of the guitar’s six strings. Or, just plug the guitar into a standard guitar amplifier." Which means that this is going to be the wannabe guitar player's dream. Quote
Nabeel Ansari Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 the controller features tech built into the neck and fingerboard of the guitar, making it able to read finger positions in real time. Well there you have it you can't use a standard guitar. Quote
Guy In Rubber Suit Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 Well there you have it you can't use a standard guitar. Bah! I won't buy that guitar until I know how it sounds through an amp. Squire makes alright guitars, cheaper Fenders basically. And I'd much rather save my money for a guitar I really desire. Quote
Brandon Strader Posted June 12, 2010 Author Posted June 12, 2010 I do not endorse any idea of a fake guitar, that's why I didn't mention it. But tiny keyboard for the win. Quote
Skyline Drop Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 Wow. I haven't wanted a music game this badly since DDRMAX2. Quote

Inimitable Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 Well "not endorsing any sort of fake guitar" doesn't hold as much weight anymore. The idea of Pro Mode is if you're playing Expert Pro you're really playing the song. Quote
