Saunders
Castlevania 'Rigor Dance' Well, I've never been a big fan of Pordon's stuff. The beginning of this sounds like some default FruityLoops samples and effects, maybe it's just me. I personally didn't find this mix to be very interesting, it couldn't really hold my attention by itself for very long.

I've been getting away from that lately with some better samples, but this particular song was mostly due to laziness on my part. Thanks for the review. -steve
The Coop
Hmmmm.... This one just didn't do anything for me. It never really builds up, and it seems to stay in place for most of the song. I mean, it sounds alright and whatnot (samples aren't shitty and the beat is steady), but it's just.... boring. For some reason I kept waiting for it to break out into a Wip3out song with that one sample going.
Kamikaze Noodle
Hmmm.. Repetitive, uses default FL sounds with no effects, and the melody is drowned out by the annoying analogue synth. No sir, I don't like it.
DragonFireKai
This was a sub par mix. far too repetitive.
SixthFlyingMan
Overly repetitive, except the parts where you could hear a little of the melody, which I _EVENTUALLY_ Recognized as Grim Reaper theme and Vampire Killer, badly combined... I personally hated this. I also couldn't see much "rigor". DJP misclassified this as "dance". It's a trance piece. No faster or more rigorous than Terra Tripmachine. Heck, I think Terra Tripmachine trumps it easy. Either way, I think it sucks. Tone down the analogue, crank up the melody, keep the melody going through the whole song. Add some drums and up the tempo if you want it to be dance, but I would love a decent VK/Reaper trance piece.
Legion303
I agree. It blows, and I wish I hadn't submitted it. However, don't blame DJP for my title...it was a double pun on "rigor mortis" (because I knew it was repetitive even when I submitted it) and "riverdance". -steve
Liontamer
Bah. No need to hate on the old school stuff, even if it's FL-default or whatever the case may be. It's an weird piece, has some odd harmonies in spots, and the last section was bad, but I thought this was actually pretty catchy in places, and I enjoyed some parts of it 3 years ago when I first heard it. OceansAndrew
Some catchy syncopation for sure, and well interpreted material; No one in their right mind could call this a cover. I think the synths are fine for an old school mix, though the analogue sound would mesh well with some other instrumentation, maybe brass and fretless bass? DragonAvenger
Weird track. Some parts of it were quite catchy, and if used a bit more sparingly with other cool melodic/rhythmic ideas would have really stood out, but as things are they get used too much and become repetative. Sounds are FL default, but they don't sound bad and generally work well together. What I heard of the melody (which I'm guessing at, haven't played the old Castlevanias, don't kill me) it sounded too far back. Bring it up more to add more recognition in the piece. Cool ideas, but needs more to stay interesting.
Bahamut
Other than the FL defaults, can't say I was particularly enthralled by the mix. I don't think I have much to add though in terms of comments...
ella guro
I've really liked some of steve pordon's other stuff (the ff6 mix and the silent hill one he did with cotmm) but this one is kinda lame both arrangementwise and soundwise. Well, there are some kinda neat sounds but nothing to hold your interest really. Steve definitely came a long way from this one.
tweex
Ok, so right off the bat, this track starts out with a much better sound than Steve's first mix. The beat is nice and funky with a nice down tempo bass line. The gated/filterd synth has a nice sound to it, but does get a little repetitive to hear. I enjoyed the classic style synth lead. I wish it would have had a little faster attack on it, but that's personal preference. A nice pad of two would have really helped fill this out a little more, but on the whole, it's not a half bad track and it shows a lot of growth from Steve's first mix! Octagon
I like the use of the first sample and the rhythmic structure, though the melody seems to just kind of fall asleep in the middle. The ending, on the other hand, really strikes my fancy again.
TheCD1
Wow, looking back at these comments this track got some hate! I definitely like this track though, and continue to keep it on my playlist. While some "more in the know" may not think it's the most technically proficient remix (even for the early 2000s), for me the different aspects of this track bring together a solid fusion of 8-bit and electronic music. I'll admit, like DJP said it did take more than one listen through before the song clicked for me (it was a bit too busy for me initially). After that though, I've enjoyed this monster-hunting groove every time it's on. 👍🗡️🪓🏰🧛♂️👍
