zircon Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 And here's a tutorial on how to use PaulStretch for yourself! Quote
CC Ricers Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Good god. I am packing my bags, I am not worthy of this remixer. And now I finally have a song that is over 30 minutes long (I know they exist but I never really listened to one ) Quote
Strike911 Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 And now I finally have a song that is over 30 minutes long (I know they exist but I never really listened to one ) Someone needs to put Freebird in this thing, and the world will explode. Quote
BardicKnowledge Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Awesome link, and awesome use of the tech by zircon in the demo. Quote
Sinewav Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 I tried this with a Protomen song... http://tindeck.com/listen/kxdu Pretty cool, I'd say. Quote
AkumajoBelmont Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Wow, the song sounds really good now. My thoughts exactly. It's unbelievably pretty. Like this 'Justin Beiber' girl. Quote
AkumajoBelmont Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 aaaand I've been dicking around with Paulstretch for an hour now... it's quite awesome Quote
The Phalanx Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 I tried this with a Protomen song... http://tindeck.com/listen/kxdu Pretty cool, I'd say. This is incredible. Seriously. I can't stop listening to it. Quote
Tables Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Fact: Spark Mandrill 2000% is pretty great. Quote
Level 99 Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 I propose the motion to change the thread title to "Experimenting with Paulstretch: post songs that sound awesome slowed-down" Quote
Sinewav Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 I'd be down for that... in fact, if this thread doesn't get changed, we should make a separate thread for it anyway. I love this stuff. Quote
Jillian Aversa Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 If aliens from a planet with a much faster rotation came to visit earth, this could be what they hear. Think Star Trek: Voyager episode "Blink of an Eye." ^_~ Quote
Overflow Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 I know about bootcamp, but the fact remains: someone NEEDS to make a version for mac! Quote
relyanCe Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Someone needs to put Freebird in this thing, and the world will explode. i'm awefully tempted now. Quote
DramaNoMore Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 I just stretched a track, brought it back to it's original speed and used it as reverb for the original. Not bad! Thanks for pointing out this software, fun times ahead. Quote
Patrick Burns Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 I haven't compared this to any other Mac versions, but this one seems to work fine: http://music.cornwarning.com/2010/04/06/paulstretch-new-build-for-the-new-decade/ He says it's not a Snow Leopard build, but it's worked on my Snow Leopard so far. I still enjoy stretching songs normally while affecting their pitch, though. Playing songs at 81% compared to concert pitch always sounded kinda neat to me. Edit: Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds Quote
Tables Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 oh god help me Gimme Shelter at 'normal' (1x) stretch but -188 pitch and -101 freq shift makes a weird industrial sounding version. I have to try this with more songs. Edit: Actually the industrialy effect works with just about any rock song go figure. Addicted - Devin Townsend is like going down a tunnel of sad mechanical lions who hate your guts. also c3po's ghost is chasing you tl;dr this program is amazing Quote
Strike911 Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 i'm awefully tempted now. You mustn't! The Earth's magnetism cannot take it! You must be stopped cruel fiend! Edit: Nah, but seriously... I just did it, and it sounds crazy cool with the mostly acoustic stuff in the beginning then just slowly turns into what hell must sound like halfway through as the Electric guitar solos start popping in. I also tried the Best is Yet to Come from the original Metal Gear Solid soundtrack... nothing short of amazing when slow. Wow. Quote
The Coop Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 I've been tooling around with this very cool program, mostly just tinkering with my own remixes (don't feel like transferring files from CDs right now). The end results sounded like something out of the game I of the Dragon with "The Dead of Winter,", "A Few More Miles To Go" was pretty soothing, and... I don't know to say about "Brinstar's Good Enough" Can't wait to try out others, and studio-produced songs. Quote
