Tensei Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 Remix Pretty much done, just posting it here for some final feedback. Edit: Update with live saxophone. Edit2: Final Version(possibly?) Edit3: Submitted Quote
Xenon Odyssey Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 Only thing I have a gripe about it that sax sample. It doesn't work as well with the vibe as a real sax would. *cough*... Quote
Iggy Koopa Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 I wonder whose brilliant suggestion it was to mix these! Good stuff. Quote

If you're suggesting that you'd be able to record a live sax part, I would very much appreciate that. I could even extend the final section to give you some soloing time before the fade-out. Quote

AMT Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 This is groovy and rad. Can't wait to hear it with live sax! Quote
halc Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 agreed, this is awesome! the live sax will really bring it home- can't wait to hear it! Quote
DCT Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 This is pretty slick; reminds me of vintage Morse at times. The live sax is definitely gonna awesome it up even more. Great stuff! -D Quote
CC Ricers Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 This is pretty catchy and well produced. I agree to bring on a better sax. The current one lags on the note attacks sometimes. Quote
Level 99 Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 I will withhold my comments before the sexy live sax is added. Oh, fine, maybe one comment: friggin' awesome. Quote
Tuned Logic Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 Showin' some love to disco! I love this; it sounds fantastic. And yeah, a real sax would be awesome, but the current sample certainly doesn't break anything. Nice work! Quote
KoeN Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 Wow, this track is gorgeous! I particularly love the bass; so busy, so funky! I am new here, so I'm not sure if this has been brought up before or whether you're already familiar with it, but I find the 'Mr Sax T' VST from Sample Modelling can create some great, near realistic sax tones (especially when used with a midi breath controlled instrument). You could probably track down a demo without too much trouble. Keep up the great work! Quote
Giga Bowser Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 Amazing u seen to have pretty good experience I love it. ^^ Quote
Tensei Posted October 16, 2010 Author Posted October 16, 2010 http://www.tindeck.com/listen/zgvo Updated with Xenon's saxophone. Quote
Chris ~ Amaterasu Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 This is sounding really cool guys, great work =) I love this style and I love dk2 =D Quote
Rozovian Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 This is the worst thing ever, and you should be ashamed of yourself for posting it. Seriously tho, this is not what I expected, and it took a while to figure out what it is. Rain, hard electronic kit, jazz, funk, disco, vinyl sounds, sax, whispers...? Channelling a bit Joshua Morse, are we? And... a few other things? Careful with the voxpad, it has a pretty mid-heavy, harsh, resonant sound. Actually, the whole thing sounds forced a step too loud, wrecking the smooth vibe you'd otherwise be rocking. Funky but overproduced. Ease up on the harmonic exciter or whatever and let it be a little smoother. It's not supposed to blow anybody's brains out with volume, so STOP DOING THAT! Quote
Emunator Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Thanks for making this mod review ridiculously easy. SUB THIS NOW, this is one of the best songs I've heard to hit the WIP forums in months. Good friggin' work you guys The outro really sends chills down my spine, with the sax and the whispers... This one's a keeper, I can't imagine any reason it wouldn't get past the panel. Quote
The Vagrance Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 This is fantastic, one of the better remixes I've heard period. Quote
halc Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 fantastic mix. really loving the chiptune aesthetic this has at times. xo's saxing is wonderful as well. DP-worthy stuff, imo. Quote
Gimgak Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 I'm a huge fan of DKC2 and I have to say you took these originals in a direction I would have never considered. It's jamming! I especially like the solo synths, very smooth. And nice saxing XO. Great work! Quote
BlackPanther Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Thought I would chime with 2 words or so: awesome shit! Quote
Sir_Snooze Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Wow. Submission required. For the good of humanity. Absolutely rockin' (groovin') from sexy beginnin' to totally radical end, man. I downloaded it now. Saves me the wait for it to go up on the front page. Quote
Tensei Posted October 20, 2010 Author Posted October 20, 2010 Submitted version Just fixed some loose ends in this one and added melody's live piano playing at the start. Quote
noTuX Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 I don't know if it is my headphones or what, but I hear some heavy clipping going on with the piano and when the choir comes in. I can also spot some signs of compression in certain spots. I also would have faded the rain fx out a little a little bit more smoothly. It fades out a little, and then kinda drops out. Then, its suddenly reintroduced for a few seconds and drops out again. Its cool at the beginning, but I don't think I would bring it back into the song anymore. It kinda starts sounding like a weird hissing sound in the background. The ending kinda left me hangin' too. Quote
Tensei Posted October 20, 2010 Author Posted October 20, 2010 That's weird, I mixed it with a good amount of headroom, and I can't hear any clipping myself. Too late to change anything about it now though I guess. Quote
