The Damned Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 http://www.destructoid.com/grandia-creator-takeshi-miyaji-dies-aged-45-207622.phtml Hmmm, that might have been a bit tasteless, but at least you'll remember this thread now, and by way of that, the guy who made the Grandia game series. Quote
Power Smoothie Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Ever since i first played it, Grandia was my single favourite game. He was awesome. Quote
Brandon Strader Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 That was tasteless. If I hadn't sold my Grandia III to joe_cam, I would play it now in remembrance. Quote
AkumajoBelmont Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Grandia II! Best game ever. Quoted for fact. It's one of my absolute favourite games of all time. Sad news indeed. Quote
Jared Hudson Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Still got my original copy of Grandia, in mint condition. Great game and battle system. Voice acting was a little rough at times, but very fun indeed! Quote
Dexie Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Grandia's been my favorite RPG and one of my favorite games period from the moment I first played it. This is terrible news to hear. Quote
djpretzel Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 That was tasteless. If I hadn't sold my Grandia III to joe_cam, I would play it now in remembrance. If BS be callin' it tasteless, and be right, that really be saying something. Great talent lost; Game Arts was truly badass. Quote
Sir_NutS Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Truly sad, I have fond memories of all the Grandia games. Quote
Modus Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I only played Grandia 2. It was alright. I liked the big plot twist. Quote
The Legendary Zoltan Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Played Grandia 1 and 2. Liked the first and loved the second. I wonder what he died from. Thanks for everything, Miyaji Takeshi. You will be missed. Quote
PROTO·DOME Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I have this massive rose-tinted glasses thing going for Grandia. It was the game for me back when I was kid. D'aw well, he wasn't going to make another one anyway. Quote
Garpocalypse Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 It always sucks when someone who spends their life creating things dies. While I fondly remember the Grandia series, I think it was a bit overrated. Quote
Brandon Strader Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 If BS be callin' it tasteless, and be right, that really be saying something.Great talent lost; Game Arts was truly badass. Are you implying that I, at any point, had bad taste? Cause it's quite the contrary. Listening (and making) so many OC ReMixes should be proof enough of that! And I would never write a joke that makes light of someone's untimely death. *offended* If you were referring to the bad jokes, such as "What do you call the last snowflake to land? A slow flake" -- I can't take credit for those. I get them from Popsicle sticks, they aren't my own written work. Quote
PROTO·DOME Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 "What do you call the last snowflake to land? A slow flake"Pfftaha. You funny guy. Quote
Modus Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 I played Grandia 2 maybe two years ago and I remember being impressed by a few things. The battle animations/cutscenes gave me boners, first and foremost. In fact, the whole battle system felt smooth and was unique. The game as a whole felt very polished and pretty well-balanced. That said, the graphics and voice acting made me throw up in my mouth a little. But the day a JRPG comes out with good English voice acting is... well, never. It won't happen. I will mourn this man's death, truly. Seeing JRPGs as a whole fall off the face of the Earth is painful. He probably died of sadness because no one wants to publish and localize JRPGs anymore :[ Quote
EC2151 Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Well, a Grandia/Grandia II remix album is in order. That's more like it. ;; Quote
The Damned Posted August 3, 2011 Author Posted August 3, 2011 A tribute album would be cool. It's like a regular album, but a bit more so. Third'd. Quote
noTuX Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Wasn't my original idea, but an album is even better! Forth'd (technically, third'd) Quote
Tex Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 I wonder what he died from. Me too. 45 is way too young to check out. Quote
