Pavos Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Splash Warfly comes in at 0:43, the start of each 2 bar phrase is from Splash, and the same phrases again at 2:43. Also, the vocal melodies at 1:17 and 3:17 are Splash too. Ah I hear it now, thanks! Quote
Garpocalypse Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Garpocalypse knows about layering two basses at the same time. Or 5 haha. jack as... i mean, excellently awesome former boss. that wasn't layering that was just piling sound on sound until it started to sound good. I think i was roughly 3 more basses short of it working too. really tho once i got through that remix things started clicking production wise for me like crazy. SuperiorX 1 Quote

To me layering multiple basses just cancels out too much stuff to make it sound better or "fatter". Unless you mean layering 24 oscillators of a hardware analog synth, then I'm all for it Quote

All in good fun Gar But yes, I think 8 basses would have sealed the deal. Eights of Bass. And yeah, all of your more recent stuff I've heard (SZRC 2014, your one track from this compo) has been sounding even better! Garpocalypse 1 Quote

Definitely agree with what some of y'all said regarding my track. It was pretty safe, I wish I had more time to work on it, I think I only got to spend about 5 hours or so on it. My dog got sick unexpectedly so I had my hands full for a while, but hey things happen! The guitar was a last minute addition and it wasn't too great of a take. I'll definitely try to expand on it before I try to submit it.Thanks for all the comments so far! Gonna give the tracks a listen some time tomorrow Also, I don't think I ever did metal WillRock though I've done a couple rock remixes here and there. Maybe I'll attempt that next time! Eino Keskitalo Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Another hot round.. good job! No scores have been tallied for the previous rounds, right? Quote
Jorito Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Heh, I guess I was a bit too subtle with Rickrolling in this rounds track, everybody missed the second reference. Hint: check around the 3:00 mark Quote
Ghetto Lee Lewis Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Heh, I guess I was a bit too subtle with Rickrolling in this rounds track, everybody missed the second reference. Hint: check around the 3:00 mark Oh I noticed the part on the vocoder the first time around Quote
SuperiorX Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 ladyWildfire, I strongly urge you to get someone to spit some rhymes over Tribal Hunter if you decide to sub to OCR. The beat is too good and is practically begging for someone to rap over it. Even better idea: let's have a SFRG Bonus Round where every participant raps/sings over wildfire's instrumental. It'd be like the old vocal VOCR compos haha. Cam3leon and Troyificus 2 Quote

SuperiorX Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 I have a decent 1:15 in my track so far... I'm feeling a lot better about this round than I did with my Round 1 track though. The style is a bit more of a return to form for me too I am totally down for this, although I think it should be every team, not every participant. Hah, yeah that's what I had meant. Nice job on your track this round too GLL! I love Rainy Turtloid and the lyrics in your song were very relatable timaeus222 and Ghetto Lee Lewis 2 Quote
timaeus222 Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Mine is about 1:36 long so far. I've sort of done this glitch metal style before, but haven't really embraced it fully until now. Currently at the crazy part. Quote
jnWake Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 I've written nothing on my DAW yet but I have the arrangement sort of planned haha so it's going well I believe. Quote
shadow24 Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Well my song doesn't have any over-driven, clipping, ear bleed bass issues now. Something weird happened with my WAV file with some surround sound bass stacking. See if it sounds better please.https://soundcloud.com/darrencsmith/vaam Quote
timaeus222 Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Well, it still has a lot of odd bass writing decisions but there isn't pervasive clipping on loud parts anymore (see 1:40). shadow24 1 Quote
Yami Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 I have a rough idea and about 50 seconds of a trancey track. Yeah, back to the genre I mostly want to do Quote
Troyificus Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 I'm going on record to say I hate this source and that my submission will be quite underwhelming. Quote

YoshiBlade Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 I like this source and am quite happy with where my track is going. It's good to see some optimism this round, but I think I'll always prefer your earlier remixes Flexstyle. Jason Covenant, Anorax, Flexstyle and 1 other 4 Quote

Tuberz McGee Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 So basically I can't decide what genre I'm doing so I'm doing all of them. <3 Troyificus and Eino Keskitalo 2 Quote

Jason Covenant Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Looks like I'm going this week. I'm thinking Gregorian Chant Breakbeat. So basically I can't decide what genre I'm doing so I'm doing all of them. <3 http://www.musicgenreslist.com/Hope that helps.Oh, and here's my lyrics from GLL's remix last week: Darkesword compo With a deadline coming very soon Mixing n' fixingShoveling caffeine in with a spoon Not much time leftGotta rush this and get it done'bout to masterOh no I forgot a whole section I'm halfway done I don't want to let the team down And I've only used one theme Just hours left Barely awake Not much time leftGotta rush this and get it done'bout to masterOh no I forgot a whole section I have a feeling these will become highly relevant for some of us in a couple of days.
