  1. Funny story. I asked Beth a while ago who her Secret Santa was and she didn't tell me who. Wonderful thing after a long day... I found a package in front of my door. I was so excited to see who it was from. Seconds later I could not stop laughing. Trying to find the gift was an adventure. I honestly believed she trolled me until I ripped the damn thing apart. haha I found this: Not going to lie. This made me cry like a baby...but that's not surprising, right? I've always been the emotional one. Getting the gift made it harder not to go to MAGFest. Unfortunately I had to cancel it. Thank you for this, Beth. I had no idea you could make such a beautiful thing. I'll definitely wear it to MAG 2017. I promise. In the meantime I'll take care of these. I love them. I can't wait for gift #2.

  2. What!? No orchestra? That's a sin here. Anyway, I like it, but I would say I'm not a huge fan of the guitar tone. On the extended mutes around 1:08 it doesn't sound "metallic" enough for how breakdowns like that usually go. It might need to be choked a bit more and maybe a bit more gain or something.

  5. I'm so glad you like them! It was really fun designing and assembling them, and I plan to do more pieces using the same techniques after my current remix project is done. I am not very organized so the second part of your gift may arrive after Christmas.

  6. Really nice tune! Warm and fluffy I liked the interplay of the real instruments, and the fake instruments were very well handled. It's like the warm & organic and sort of tender real instruments were held inside the shell of the "shinier" production of the rest of it. I really liked that effect.

  7. Honestly, I was hoping this could work without a date, but maybe shoot for mid-January. The idea is that once the key tracks are in, for example Elia, Opening Theme and some others that are mostly done.. then things could just be finished up regardless of what is left to go -- lots of people with no progress or contact in a loooong time. I know that doesn't sound very structured, it's a bit chaotic, but I work better with chaos, and I hope other people do too. I'm not saying that as soon as Kate sends a WAV everyone else is cut, but I am sayin' don't just lay on your butt!

  8. This mix is just badass - love it right from the intro. The beat is damn tight & the usage of scratches and monkey noises @0:42 is very creative. Love your straightforward yet unusual approach. Nice work!

  9. Ah great, thanks! I definitely wasn't trying to be a jerk at all, especially considering this involves a skill you've clearly got in your bag of tricks that I've yet to fully develop. I should be able to put something together for this before the deadline.

  10. That is awesome! GS has an incredible soundtrack so those MIDIs are definitely interesting.

  11. My bad, as I said I was kind of in the middle of this anyway so I rushed through it a bit, the instrument that I used to transcribe it originally was also out of tune, used a sine wave this time and fixed it. The timing of the plucked string was also off in a few places https://www.mediafire.com/?0c5bdecsb7eaixk bonus flp! https://www.mediafire.com/?5lm1z86vn9lclaz

  12. shadowpsyc picked the track but also transcribed it (from what I can tell from his post above). Based on that I think we can give him a pass on a few wrong notes

  13. I'm still a newcomer here for the most part (as far as posting goes, I was lurking for over a decade before that) so I'm not sure if I'm overstepping a boundary by saying there's definitely wrong notes in the MIDI file, primarily with the metallic sounding instrument that comes in around 0:46. My ear is still a little weak so I'm not comfortable trying to fix it, as I'm also juggling three other projects with deadlines right now. Again, hope I'm not saying something I shouldn't be. Just feel like the onus should be on whoever selected the track to ensure that it's an accurate representation of the source.

  14. I was initially disappointed in the somewhat lower than expected amount of comments and reviews for this album. But after a while I starting to think about it. Maybe doing an album like this isn't about accolades and praise. Maybe it isn't something we did, so we could pat ourselves on the backs and say "we did it". Maybe it isn't for others to compliment and rate. It isn't a lot of things. But I do know what it is for. It's for a man that isn't here to listen to it. It's for his fans to reminisce his work. It's for his legacy. And maybe... maybe that's all it needs to be.

  15. Just as a heads-up, DJP wants issues with the new forum upgrade to be reported in the Community thread specifically for it, over at http://ocremix.org/community/topic/42360-notice-forums-upgraded-to-ips-41x-report-issues/. Makes it easier to tackle all the resultant issues in one spot.

  17. hey, this was me! =D i'm so happy you're into it. you did say you wanted my favorite album on lp and interesting soda or chocolate, so there you go =) for those who don't know: 1. cheerwine is a primarily SC/NC-based pop company that's actually one of the oldest (if not the oldest) family-owned fountain drink maker in the country. they make what's basically the best black-cherry pop in existence. it's also very reasonable as an add-on item from amazon, and (best of all!) should be available everywhere in the states in grocery stores by 2017 or so. i'm surprised you've tried it before, flex, i checked and didn't see you'd lived in the carolinas area. i only had it once or twice and absolutely loved it. 2. mexican hot chocolate is really good, and the stuff made the old-style artisanal way is the best...stone-ground chocolate that's a bit gritty in a pleasant way. fantastic for sitting around and listening to...excellent bluegrass on lp! speaking of which... 3. nickel creek (and, by extension, mandolin virtuoso Chris Thile) is one of my favorite musical groups, and 'why let the fire die?' is easily my favorite album of theirs. i was super nervous you'd be like "ew bluegrass" so i'm really happy you're into it! they play extremely progressive music, stuff that does a lot of mixing of styles including jazz, folk, and rock. it's pretty involved stuff, has some excellent lyrics, and is a real musical journey. i have been more influenced in my own music by this group than any other. i wasn't super excited to see that the lp changes the order of the tracks, but it's still a fantastic experience. if you like this, flex, check out Thile's new albums under Punch Brothers. their newest album, Phosphorescent Blues, is even more on the progressive side, about as much folk as kid a is rock. really, really experimental in an awesome way. the first track (familiarity) blew my mind with how imaginative it was.
