  1. I think the true purpose of this compo was to turn us all into night-dwelling vampires ourselves. Very clever, MindWanderer...

  2. I can't say it's Christmas in July, but it is Christmas in March!! I apologize for the hold up, but I wanted to kick this thread into gear as early as I could this year, because this is the tenth anniversary of An OverClocked Christmas we're talking about. That's right, Volume 10!! Who's directing this ship this year? Well, in the last two years (volumes 8 and 9), The Coop has stepped up and stepped into the role of director, while I, for personal reasons that I won't get into here, stepped back to take a breather. Two years is a long time, but this year is special, and I couldn't stand staying away for it. So this year, I'm happy to announce that... Both The Coop, and myself (Dyne), will be directing this project. So, what's this year's theme going to be, or, what music should we be making for this project? As always, Christmasy, snowy, seasonal music is the goal, but this year, I'm asking everyone to stick to Video Game Music specifically. That means that we're not taking original music, or remixes/rearrangements of classic Christmas tunes. I will explain why this is the running theme for the year. In previous years, we've had a mix of all manner of music, from VGM, to classic Christmas music, to originals. For this year, I wanted to focus primarily on VGM has a whole, especially because of this community here at OCR. I love this community, and though I've been lurking for a long time now, I still think of this community as an extended family. So, with that in mind, let's brighten the year with amazing music!! The other reason for this focus is actually a project that has yet to be started. One that I won't be talking about, but one that is something I want to accomplish for Christmas 2017. So keep an eye out for that. What format should our tracks be in? Typically, we've accepted them as MP3s and WAVs before. We're going to do this again. The following is the format that I would like followed: 44.1 Khz, 192kbps .MP3 Who do we submit our music to? Well, to be honest, either one of us. But more specifically, I'd like to have them sent to me through my gmail account. That said, I have some guidelines for how you can send me those emails, and what I need to see so I can locate them in my email. First, my Gmail address is, as always, Dyne2057@gmail.com. Secondly, in the SUBJECT line, I'd like the following in all caps: RE: AOCC VOLUME 10 SUBMISSION Thirdly, in the body of the email message, I'd like the following: YOUR REMIXER HANDLE (what you use on OCR is fine), THE OFFICIAL TITLE OF YOUR TRACK, THE SOURCE OF THE TRACK (what game is it from? who is the composer?), ANY COMMENTS YOU WISH TO MAKE ABOUT YOUR TRACK (or tracks if you are making multiple submissions). Should we send multiple tracks in one email? The short answer is NO. The long answer is, I would like tracks in separate emails. I know this is tedious, but it will help me keep track of what information belongs to each of your tracks. What should we do if we can't send you tracks via email? If you can't send them via email, I will accept links to DropBox, web space (if that's where you can put it), or whatever method you'd like to use to get them to me. I would still like the requisite information from the email along with the link. If you are doing multiple tracks, then you can send multiple links this way. I know, this is a bit backwards from what I said about sending email to me in one of the sections above, but please hear me out. If you're sending links, you can more easily divide up your track, so what it should look like is like the following: --- <DOWNLOAD LINK FOR YOUR TRACK> --- REMIXER HANDLE --- OFFICIAL TITLE OF YOUR TRACK --- SOURCE OF YOUR TRACK --- COMMENTS ABOUT YOUR TRACK And then just repeat for as many submissions as you have. The download link will act as a divider. And remember that your SUBJECT should also be the same as above. WIP Deadlines, Final Deadline? I'd like to have at least two WIP Deadlines this time around. The deadlines will be as follows: First WIP Deadline: June 1, 2016 Second WIP Deadline: September 1, 2016 FINAL DEADLINE: December 11, 2016 at 11:59pm I would like to have everything submitted by December 11, 2016, which gives almost 2 weeks for everything to be finalized, and readied for release. This year, because of the length of time we have, I'm going to be a bit more strict on late tracks. That said, the very latest I intend to take submissions will be by: Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at 11:59pm. Questions, Comments, Suggestions? If you have any of these, feel free to drop me a line, or throw those things here in the thread. Either The Coop or myself will answer you as soon as we can. Thank you, and as always, I look forward to hearing your tracks. Track Suggestions In a response to a question about suggestions, I said I would think about some ideas and present them here in the OP. So, here are some ideas. Also, please note, your remixes don't necessarily need to be specifically snow-based level music, or what not, it can be any track you want. Super Mario Bros. Castlevania Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Earthbound Mega Man and Mega Man X (don't forget the Game Boy series!) Megaman Zero 1-4 Chrono Trigger Chrono Cross Final Fantasy series Destiny Tom Clancy series Rainbow Six series Act Raiser Final Fight Street Fighter series King of Fighters series Snatcher Sonic the Hedgehog Undertale (especially this) Super Mario RPG Tales of ... series Assassin's Creed series Metal Gear and Metal Gear Solid series Thanks for the reminder Yannic Gerts! 3. The People's Remix Competition 319 PRCv13-07 Hello everyone and Welcome to the People's Remix Competition! PlanarianHugger, RonaldPoe and Bundeslang participated in the last round. The winner was PlanarianHugger and he selected the source for this round. The selected source is related to the source of PRC45 and PRC118. In PRC118 it was Rexy, the organisator of the contest at that moment (yes, that was in a period when the organisator of the contest did actually win rounds with more than 1 people entering) who claimed victory with a track called Just Ribbon and Me. That source was selected by another PRC legend: Sir Nuts . The source was Pop Star, from Kirby 64. Source: Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards (N64) - Shiver Star MIDI Source Information ThaSauce link: Click here to submit To submit a song at the compo page a ThaSauce account is required. If anyone has problems with registering or uploading the song to ThaSauce, please upload the song somewhere else and post a download link in the thread. Click the 'You are not logged in' button in the upper right. Click on 'register' (at the bottom). Read the terms and click 'I agree to these terms'. If you don't agree with them, upload the song somewhere else and post a download link as mentioned above (by doing that, you allow me to upload the song at ThaSauce. Continue the process by filling in your information. You will get a question to confirm that you're not a robot. Here are some possible answers: Name a compo: PRC Who organizes One Hour Compo: Starla Name a ThaSauce subdomain: compo.thasauce.net Who created Mega Mans: Capcom A confirmation mail will be send. There might be some issues with it (meaning that you don't get it), if that is the case, upload the song somewhere else as described above. 4. FUCK. YES. A few of my vocals did not come out as I would have liked, so I will gladly take this extra time to make sure everything's on pitch. (Even though that likely means another 1am bedtime tonight) Sorry you're not feeling well MW!

  5. Neat. Well, extra time may or may not help - I'll certainly not be able to achieve my original vision with this one, but MAYBE I can give you guys something, with an extra 24 hours. I can't make any solid promises on this one, though, I've not been able to do very much this round (even though all of the sources are actually amazing, this round).

  6. Hahaha, at least you guys are better at doing deadline stuff at the last moment. My big push was on monday, and yeah, that 1am sounds awfully familiar. The sleepiness too btw...

  9. WOW. I think you win the award for most improved in production in the shortest amount of time. But your piano playing has ALWAYS been phenomenal, even in your first remix ever.

  10. EVAL Alrighty, some eval time! You have some really solid instruments in this one, and they mesh quite well together. The source feels like it's there pretty solid, as well, so it would pass on that front. I feel it gets a bit repetitive, though - moments like 1:30 - 2:00 are a bit hard to justify. If you need a repeating line like that to build into something else, cut the repetitions in half, as they go from interesting to sounding lazy in a hurry, if you're not careful. That fade-out ending also isn't going to cut it. It sounds like you really want to continue, but instead just cut the listener short. Get a real ending on it. As far as production goes, the track sounds thin. Not really enough bass in general (moments like 1:07 are alright, though), and the center range of the track tends to sound lacking. The instruments that you have don't fill up the space enough - some reverb, delay or the inclusion of just more would help quite a bit. The drums are really a centerpiece of this track, though. So much variety, and a whole lot of interesting combinations, to boot - I like them a lot. This probably would get to the panel, then would be nailed on these points. Hopefully this helps you out!

  12. Cheers @Bundeslang! Your silent support is very appreciated. **MIDWEEK UPDATE TIME!** Uuuuuurghhh..... Not slept a wink. Insomnia ain't fun folks! Aaaanyway. 21 tracks claimed! that's basically 2 discs' worth. 2/3 of the way to having a fully claimed roster. Well done for your enthusiasm guys 'n' gals. Welcome to @Meteo Xavier, @NyxTheShield, @Trev, @zykO and @noTuX, who've jumped in since last update. The amount of talent signed up is brilliant. And very exciting... Got quite a few concept WIPs in, and even a couple of substantial ones. There's no rush peeps, it's still early days. I'm delighted by the eagerness though. As of todays date, everybody (except you @APZX- you're exempt for the time being) has a deadline for their concept or update WIP between 6 weeks and two months from now. You know the specifics because I PM'd y'all individually to make sure in the past week. If I missed you, shout out. Have I missed anything? Do you have any suggestions, or are there any questions? Hit me up! @HoboKa... Anything to add? Cheers folks. As ever, looking forward to hear your sounds

  13. Man... looking at this, I'm shocked that The Final Decisive Battle (AKA The Last Duel, which is what I prefer to call it) isn't taken. It's an iconic piece of music and I can't imagine a Lufia 2 album without it. I've got a pretty full plate already, but a chance to remix one of my favorite tracks of all time is too good to pass up. I talked to Swiggles (guitar player) and if you'd like, we can take this track.

  14. Genius. Absolutely love the sound. Toms are killer. Absolutely feels like a montage from an 80s high school movie about a robotics club at Doctor Light High School getting ready to take on their archrivals at Albert Wily Prep. Gonna sign off on the arrangement here. Kris you wanna contact Coffee and see if we get get a fix on mastering? YES
