  1. Friends, I have awesome news. At long last... after five years of talking about it... American Pixels is here. The project has just landed on Kickstarter for the final push, this 4th of July in the year of our Lord 2016. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1265656914/american-pixels-a-game-music-tribute-album-by-maze This has been a labor of love, blood, sweat, and tears... and damn the music came out awesome, if I do say so myself. Now I just need that last little nudge to cover the cost of mastering, licensing, CD duplication, etc. Any and all help from the OCR crew to spread the word would be vastly appreciated; let's make this thing EPIC together!

  2. Not bad. I like the style you've chosen, but I agree with Ganae, the bass line needs MORE and I think you may want to look at your individual part dynamics. Drums are pretty flat too. Could you mix it up a bit at 0:42, maybe add something or open up the sound of them a bit? I will say, I do like the sound of the drums, synth, harpsichord combo. I want to hear where you are going to take this. Updates please! ...Oh yeah, and did you know the video says Lego Dimensions on it? LOL

  3. Hi. I can just tell on thing. You use too much compression to my mind. Perhaps you can so play with the bass line to make it cooler.

  4. Just write. It's as simple as that. It's not necessarily gonna be good. It might even be bad. But I can promise you one thing. It'll be better than nothing. As the kind people above me already mentioned, a deadline or competition helps, because it forces you to write. But that's just an accelerator. A push to get the ball rolling. In my opinion a musician should be able to start writing, even when he or she doesn't have to. I try to write some music every day. Most of the time I erase or edit it the day after, because I didn't like it. Sometimes it's the start of a great new song with lots of potential. There's no telling beforehand. Also, it's those bad songs you write that you learn from the most. So, every failure is an investment for your next great song. It's an exciting process. But, when you don't write anything because you're afraid it won't be good or because you don't have any inspiration, then all you'll have is a blank sheet of paper. And no one learns anything from a blank sheet of paper.

  5. Have a reason and a deadline. Don't just sit down and be like "gonna write some music now!" because that probably won't get you anywhere. If you have a reason (even the competitions here on the forums are great) and a deadline (need to have SOMETHING done by X time and date), then you'll be surprised at how much music you'll be able to crank out.

  6. Hey guys. Didn't forget about you. Things are stabilizing a bit on my end, so I really hope to have a theme for you this week. _Tim

  7. Any way you want it, that's the way I need it! Any way you want it. I can mix/master your song, or you could send it mixed/mastered. You've passed that there panel before so you probably have a handle on it.

  9. Fear not! Made some good progress with my track today and will work on it some more this week to get it nearer to completion (maybe even finish it if I'm lucky). What's the requirement for the final wav, should it be mastered or unmastered?

  10. UPDATE: Hi everybody. Been busy behind the scenes as ever. So July 1st brought in another deadline for some of you guys, most of them have been submitted. Sounding great, cheers! The upgrade to OCRA has seen a lot of excitement. Those of you who haven't submitted have pretty much all given reasons, and that's very cool of you. Cheers for that too, looking forward to hearing what you bring to the table. For others of you, the next deadline is August 1st. But you know that because I just messaged you, reminding you as such . The positivity is awesome, and this clock seems to be pretty well oiled, I must say (touch wood). Keep up the momentum guys. So... July 1st also brought another milestone. 6 months since the inception of the project. Happy half-birthday mofos! I've decided to put a cut-off point on the claim process, to keep the ball rolling and to maintain the growth of the project. As we stand, we have a total of 34 tracks on the album split into 3 discs with the themes "Rest", "Quest" and "Battle". Currently 29 of them are claimed 24 of which are completed or have evidence of work in progress. If by September 1st we don't have 30+ tracks being actively worked on, it'll be split into a double-disc instead, with the titles "Light" and "Darkness". Which side will your track be on, I wonder??? As I say, this is purely to keep the album rolling smoothly. 8 months is a decent point, methinks, and we can't keep the recruitment process open forever... That way lies development limbo. Besides, It'll actually be very cool to move on to the next stage! Here's a list of the remaining unclaimed tracks for any who may want to step in: European Town Call at a Port Freedom Southern Rhythm The Castle of Dragoon Anyways, as ever, great work so far peeps. Keep it up. Really delighted with what's being brought to the table so regularly and consistently. This album is shaping up to be epic, eclectic and emotive across the spectrum. If you haven't claimed, but would like to, don't be shy! Drop a message here, or hit me or @Trism up in a PM. Take it easy, lads and lasses! Odai out

  11. I need some feedback here and I'm not getting any response from coaltergeist I thought I'd just post what I have here and maybe some of you can give me your thoughts. Not really sure where to go from here except the text is not the right font. I need to find that font somewhere to put into photoshop. Also need to finish the sword of course.

  12. Aww man seeing how short the track list is getting really bums me out So many good tunes that won't wind up making it to the album if last minute completed remixes don't fill the gaps.
