  1. Yeah I picked it up solely for the synth.
  2. Def watch some videos and try out some demos. Each DAW can have a very different feel. You need to figure out which one is fun to use for you. You also need to know your preferred work flow. Music Creator 6 + Z3TA+2 Bundle for $32 is a steal. Z3ta 2 is an amazing synth and would be all you would need for the conceivable future. The clip launcher is an excellent feature most DAWs do not have. Remember no matter what you decide just have fun!
  3. Nov 21st release date for Smash Bros WiiU! I will see ya'll there ready to open a can o' whoop ass!
  4. Cool ideas here. I get a very 90's vibe from the production and sounds selected. Which fits with the source material. Congrats on the 1st mix post!
  5. Completely awesome mix dude! Great idea for the mellotron samples. They translate to old school VGM so well.
  6. Korg Legacy Collection: http://www.vintagesynth.com/korg/legacy.php http://www.korguser.net/shop/software/
  7. Been waiting for this one to be posted. Grabbed it off your soundcloud awhile ago. Def my fav song by you hands down. F'n amazing groove and feel dude.
  8. Would love to see Geno and Isaac. (Golden Sun) Although my two big wants for this were brought in a long time ago. Those were MegaMan and Lil Mac. Gotta give the NES some love. Glad they kept MegaMan old school. Lil Mac looks like he could be one of the most unique characters to play with. His ground and pound style looks like it could a match-up nightmare for some people.
  9. 2-3 years. Life happened, plus got burnt out. This was 2004 to 2006.
  10. Seconded. Love his stuff. There is a video of his song Nocturne City set to different clips from Akira. Amazing vid.
  11. If you like the idea of Elias to remix VGM. Why not look into the clip launching systems in Ableton Live or Bitwig Studio? You'll get a similar non-linear method to arrange and playback audio. Albeit without the level slider control. Which is not that big of a deal since you have to designate at what "level" each audio clip plays back.
  12. Finding some basic Reaktor tutorials are not a bad way to delve into application of the theory as well. DSP can feel like a bit of black magic at times but just keep with it.
  13. Love Mt Wario. The concept of one long track is the whole race. The last 3rd of it is just exhilarating.
  14. Not exactly a book. But an interactive approach with much of the same information: https://www.coursera.org/course/dsp
  15. Got the MK8 bundle yesterday. My handle on Wii U is swallace21
  16. Got it with the bundle. Just beat the 8 cups on 50cc. So much better than the Wii Mario Kart. Less crazy item tom foolery. You'll win by your own skills and not luck. New track designs are excellent. Really hope they add more tracks through DLC. I would certainly pay $5-$10 for 4 new tracks.
  17. Youtube, iTunes, Beatport. Maybe get your album onto some type of label. Other popular music forums. Google advertising. Or other types of online marketing. Creating a mailing list people can sign up for. Alot of OCR artists utilize Patreon as well. Like bLiNd: http://www.patreon.com/blind
  18. There is a ton of research in this field in academia: http://mtg.upf.edu/system/files/publications/Schmele-Timothy-Master-thesis-2011.pdf Some of the people listed in thank you section of this have extensive research in this subject. Better break out Google Scholar and do some reading. Before you go down this road, keep in mind speaker placement and frequency reproduction of the speakers will have a drastic affect on head related transfer functions. (HRTF) While in grad school I have listened to pieces/textural compositions that were able to do this, and some that failed miserably. A good thing to study is also some of the magic frequencies that have a great perception on our perception of sound. Strong content at 8kHz will make a sound feel like it is sitting on top of your head. Try boosting that on a lead synth sound in track sometime, works wonders.
  19. Oops my bad read it wrong. Regardless it does happen but rarely. NI also normally offers great sales right before they drop a new version of Komplete.
  20. Incorrect. I bought Komplete 3 on a sale. No cross grade or nothing. Also in 2012: http://www.sonicstate.com/amped/2012/11/23/native-instruments-thanksgiving-sale/ It happens but rarely. Best best, as afore mentioned, is to snag one of the products on a sale that allows for the cross grade to Komplete.
  21. Awesome writing! Really enjoyed the groove with this one. Would have like to have some elements a bit more 'wet' but the panning helped to create some depth mixing wise.
