  1. Free Kontakt Player? Unless you use Reason exclusively, then you're kinda screwed.
  2. Oh how true: "you are notorious for doing mixes and songs that are tonally impotent and chordally absurd. Yet we have this mix, which as far as I am concerned is fine." It gave a yes anyways.
  3. Sennheiser HD 380 Pro Studio Monitoring Headphones (Refurbished) http://www.vminnovations.com/Product_12985/Sennheiser-HD-380-Pro-Studio-Monitoring-Headphones-Refurbished-.html If you're ok with them being refurbished.
  4. Haha totally agree. It was just a thought to spark more conversation and brain storming. On a personal side note, I've always preferred anonymous grading/reviewing. This system's main focus should not be about that. It should always be about the music, which OCR has always done an excellent sticking to that goal. As Gollgagh said, would be cool to copy the ReMix Roulette function in an anonymous fashion.
  5. Perturbator: Hard cutting 80's new retro type of music. Don't know if there is an exact term for this sub genre. Kavinsky, similar but not as obscure bc he was on the Drive soundtrack: Mt Eden, chilled laid-back dubtsep, less wub wub and more awesomeness:
  6. Would be great if there was a level of anonymity when songs were posted. Or even if that was a search option for displaying songs. That way listeners just listen to the song for what it is, and not for who wrote it.
  7. Been reading through this thought it would be good to share: http://downloads.izotope.com/guides/iZotope-Mixing-Guide-Principles-Tips-Techniques.pdf It is excellent for people all skills levels. Really good resource for those starting out that want to learn what all of the basic controls do on EQ, Compressors, Gates, Limiting, etc... Also explains concepts based upon human perception and depth, width, and height. Which is an invaluable mindset to learn.
  8. Ah nice! Was searching for that on the album info. Good idea Dave.
  9. Awesome idea! Why is this album labelled OCRI-0001. And why is it' website part of OCR's template instead of its own page? Is there some different type of classification for this album?
  10. Sexcellent Seb! Glad you did another remix in this style. Really love the groove towards the end. That should be its own song.
  11. I subbed my dance track. Will eventually sit down and redo the mixing/mastering on the trap track and sub that.
  12. Newer songs are more complex. Less room for re-interpretation. Older and/or sparser VGM tunes allow for more creativity and expression. There is also the nostalgia factor and the availability of midi for source tunes.
  13. His move set looks incredible. Just balls to the wall crazy fast and precise. Looking forward to playing with him first! Also in multiple meetings @Nintendo yesterday, they confirmed a 2014 release.
  14. Excellent! Completely agree. Seriously top acts have been doing the super bowl voluntarily for decades. In any profession it is a matter of supply and demand. There is always a balance in value between performance and pay.
  15. Absolutely ace. Excellent homage to a dynamic duo of classic games. Glad to see more love for these soundtracks. Thanks for making such an expressive track.
  16. Team Viewer, set it up as a personal license. I use this to access my code base at home from work. So it should work the other way around for accessing your music.
  17. Agreed. Also all of the free commercials put on by Pepsi to advertise the half time show. It's not like the super bowl half-time acts are forced to do this. They agreed upon it. And huge name artists have done this for decades. From: http://business.time.com/2014/02/02/bruno-mars-red-hot-chili-peppers-super-bowl-halftime-show/ "The huge exposure regularly leads to a big sales boost for artists. Album sales for Beyonce and Destiny’s Child jumped 40 percent the week after last year’s Super Bowl. The bump has been even more pronounced for older bands like the Who, whose Greatest Hits album more than doubled in sales after their halftime show in 2010." Personally I believe they should be compensated. And they are, just in an indirect way.
  18. Just want to reiterate that this mode of thought on FM is so completely wrong. While it excels in these areas, FM is capable of almost any sound. But is damn hard to learn it to that extent. Hence why most people stick with the afore mentioned sounds. For example FM is excellent at creating chiptune leads. (2:22) https://soundcloud.com/sonic-elements/rob-papens-blue-sapphire-i-1 Read up on Brian Eno a bit. There is a story, can't find a damn so take it with a grain of salt, where he used a DX7 to recreate several sounds from other popular synthesizers. And no one could tell the difference. Also if you want to get really nerdy: (from the creator of FM, Chowning) http://www.spoogeworld.com/music/instruments/yamaha/fm_theory_and_applications.pdf
  19. Nice mix dude. You really pulled off the aggressive film score vibe here. Intro is def my favorite part. Excellent choice of source for the song.
  20. Diversification. Tap into an untapped part of their market sector. Publish 1 new IP. Not go and change their current IP's. Hell they could create a new small studio underneath Nintendo and give it a fancy name. Have that studio be the name behind this new IP. I could personally care less if they make mature games or not. Just giving an idea to improve their bottom line without sacrificing their rich tradition.
  21. Would be interesting to see Nintendo create a new IP target towards adult gamers and a mature audience.
