  1. I've always thought about doing it. I love mixing and the science behind it. I might do this for this week's or last weeks. Those are tough songs to mix. This week's song will be a PITA to do because half of it is in Reason. Would have to re-hookup everything to individual channels.
  2. Beautiful arrangement and tone. Excellent use of soft elements to support the piano. Took awhile to really recognize the source. But totally worth it in the end.
  3. Really really like the part writing and pacing of this track. Fits the source tune really well. Was not a big fan of the portamento synth in the beginning. The idea was good the sound just didn't fit. Excellent arrangement overall by you two!
  4. Ding ding ding. Totally agree. Layering sounds is very complex and can screw you over. Hence a big a problem I have.
  5. Ironically you'd be closer to your goal by working on music instead of thinking about it and creating a thread. Sounds like you really just want to improve your time management skills. Also it takes around 30 days to create a habit or break one. Do something for 30 days straight and then see how difficult it is to stop that habit.
  6. Bwhahaha this is awesome. Also Sylix, why not make enough songs for 3-4 albums. Buuut only release 1 album with the best songs.
  7. The number of tracks in a song. You could have 20 audio tracks. 20 Instrument tracks. 40 Total tracks. What DAW do you use? Will be easier to create an accurate description. This song has a shit ton of tracks: (95 to be exact)
  8. Damn that's not bad. All the laughing gas you could ever want!
  9. AWESOME PUPPY PIC!!! Btw just my 2 cents on the production/mixing conundrum. They are both equally difficult just in entirely different ways. In electronic music you have to constantly design and re-design sounds that not only sound good but sound good together. in recording it can a huge PITA to get a good recording. If either of those areas are messed up you are in for a helluva time mixing. Crap in crap out. Also the mixing techniques to carve out space can differ greatly. In electronic music you often have more creative and flexible methods at your disposal. However in alot of electronic songs you are dealing with 40-120 tracks. That is alot of shizz to account for and manage sonically. In contrast, a recorded instrument genre has less instruments. Therefore, your mixing decisions are more exposed to the listener. If someone gave me a properly written, recorded, and produced track I would choose to do the rock song over the 120 track dance song. It would take less time.
  10. Nice a little ingenuity and hard work goes a long way! Now make some sweet tunes Justin!
  11. Since they got promoted are they included in the OCR retirement plan?
  12. Yes there is, it's called work. People learn things at work all the time doing tasks they do not love. Now if you love it will be waaay easier and more satisfying to learn. Motivation can be derived from multiple sources.
  13. Thanks for the critique. Yeah I barely had anytime to work on this. And tracks of this nature/genre are very tricky to mix quickly. When I checked what it sounded like on my crap headphones at work this morning I noticed alot of problems. It's a the reason why if you have the time you should always listen to your track on multiple devices.
  14. Tuberz McGee Lovely intro. Like the little 8-bit synth. Ooooh, like the guitars too. And you managed to include the Kain theme. Very impressive and natural combination. 1:42 really expected and wanted some drums here. Made this section feel flat. Guitars sounded a little brittle and harsh at times. Just some gentle EQ'ing and small amounts of tastefull FX could fix that. Great track, hope you submit it!
  15. Waaaaaaait a minute I thought there was only going to be 1 winner in the matchup of three people? I was so amped up this week bc the competition was heightened. Brandon, I thought Chimpazilla said she was already out of this next round. So why don't Tuberz and I compete in the pre-final with these songs already submitted. And then have Evktalo and Chernabogue compete this week? Otherwise we all literally remixed songs for this round for nothing. Trust me I wish everyone could submit.
  16. Thanks Brandon! I had been wanting to do an OCR compo for a looong time now. Plus since you were involved it was a no brainer. Doing anything with someone who is open and passionate sounds good to me.

  17. Submitting my track here in a sec. Just want to put a disclaimer out there, take it as you will. I used this track/tutorial as a basis for my track: http://www.groove3.com/str/Making-Trap-with-Reason.html I recreated everything from watching the videos. I do not have the source file. Most of the drums are verbatim and some of the dubby synths. Also the arrangement is almost the same. Never made trap/dub before and I had tons of family staying and coming and going from my house this week. This was my way to balance this competition for this week with work and life. looking forward to the entries for this week!
  18. Omnisphere Zebra2 Ozone5 Any good reverb; valhalla, 2caudio A DAW Also anything from slate digital, izotope, fabfilter, soundtoys, or u-he
  19. Haha I just had a wisdom tooth pulled a couple weeks ago...that herbal shite would have been waaay better than vicodin. I have never been so relaxed and aloof my whole life, well except for those "special" times. <3
  20. Big hug. I am going to have to do #1 for work. I really just want to live my life to fullest everyday and pursue what inspires me.
