This is some good shit man. It's nice to hear urban style beats with actual melody and emotion to them again. God it's almost been 10 years since I've heard these kind of combos of ideas. Some songs on this kinda "bring me back." The arpegs are sweet. All the rythmic ideas are wicked nice, with all the bleeps and crazy sounds. There is some genuine quality orignal shite here. Cold Reception, Summer Wind, Acidic Feeling, Lazy Sunday...this album you can listen to all the way around, thats rare nowadays.

Yeah there's a lot going on behind the scenes with PM's and on the forums. We have not had the forums for very long and we already have over 200 posts. I sent a PM to rpggamer180(Foxhull) about it. As a remixer you def got potential. We'll get back to you on it soon. There are def some good arrangement ideas on that Bonds mix. Speaking of the Bonds mix...update?

Need a sample, synth, or effect? LOOK HERE!

sweetness. What about samplefusion? They have some great ethnic drums and percussion, along with tons of other stuff. Plus its free if you've bought fl studio or any of their plugins. -
Sexism? Rexy made some good points, so she gets some respect. Don't see anything wrong there. She felt bad bout posting that in our project forum, and I just let her know it's cool. Koelsch just made a comment bout the xenogears project that in my opinion didn't need to be said. He does have some good stuff go check it out the WIP other section. My comment about posting was just a general rule of thumb for myself. Might not be for everyone. Well these kinda arguments and shit are stupid, and nothing has been accomplished from them. No hard feelings guys.

Besaid Island FFX Vocal Mix - Which reverb? Pg 3
avaris replied to DragonAvenger's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
yeah this is def the best mastering on the vocals! You got my vote. -
That's cool Rexy. Let's just say it was an "unofficial" bump to our thread. Thanks for the support Yeah anyone whose interested look up there, about the Sephiroth mix.
-
5? Just bc Im an ass Seriously though, if u post something here at least make it related to this project and not other projects. EDIT: I agree with Rexy. Besides all this BS your music is pretty good. Oh by the way if anyone wants to do the Sephiroth theme OWA and whatever other track you wanna include in a fast paced orchestral track with lots of energy, send me a PM, I have an absolutely wicked idea. I can give you a song that will give you a damn good example of what I'm talking about too. Even if someone just wants to do the arrangement but does not have the samples to pull it off, I will do the instrumentation for you with Native Instruments Kontakt 2 and Kompakt. I'd do the mix, but I got way too many things going on to do it. But, I could handle doing the instrumentation.

all 3. what about just 2 of 3 might be more reasonable?
-
2 months ahead ya whahaha. I'll have a newer and slightly more extended version by then... That came out wrong. Well maybe some new pads and def some overall dynamics added. Gonna add some rythm guitar n the last part.

WIP - Chrono Trigger: Frog's Theme (Jazz-Hop)
avaris replied to Antisheep's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
bump...listen and u'll know why. Update? Or is it gonna be a lil bit? It'd be a crime if this one didn't get finished or submitted. -
I agree with estevao on almost all his points. So it's pointless to restate everything. First 4 mins could be condensed. Melody could more well developed in places. Those are more so just personal preferences. Besides that this is wicked good. High production values, friggin awesome arrangement for using two themes. Besides the 4 min thang and melody this is ready to submit for approval in my book.

[Danger] Breakcore, a Boulderdash Remix
avaris replied to Skrypnyk's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
omfg this is wicked cool. sounds like a crack head got ahold of a sequencer and some loops to slice up. It'll sick in the next update when this thing has a "breakout" part. It is so hard to critique a mix like this, will prob have to wait till the full version. Def keep chuggin along with this one. -
check your pm box homie. Big reply in there. On a more general note, I wish there were more WIP's for this project right now, but there aren't so we gotta wait. Thanks for comments on the xenogears project. We are running and handling our project in a way that at the end of the day will allow the project to be succesful and reach the full potential that the ost has. It's a different way of running things but we have very good reasons for doing so that have been discussed and decided on by those involved. I'll do what I can for this project in the meantime like trying to finish up my mix, need some feedback at this point though. I'm wicked busy though, similar to most people this time of year. If I have enough time and am inspired by a track maybe I'll sign up for another, but that wouldn't be for awhile. We def need to get to that 2/3 mark.

OCR01507 - Metroid Prime 2 "Torvus Clockwork"
avaris replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Haha, yeah but you were a big help on mine. Just wish DS could make one track with awesome samples to just see how it turns out. Of course I gotta give ya kudos for always creating an original sound with samples most people have heard before. -
Hey guys I got a certain "demo" of a certain song, I need you guys to go and check out on our forums to see if you dudes are feeling the "concept" i got goin for it. Leave comments for it on our forums and not this topic. Gotta give a shout out to Doomsday for some wicked good progress on his WIP so far. Also if anyone in general hasn't checked out Siamey's Pirates mix in the wip: other section. It's pure goodness. http://www.ocremix.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=86052&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

Metroid Prime 2 'Stir of Echoes' RESUB 11/25
avaris replied to avaris's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Wow im surprised this was still on the forums. Yeah I'm waiting in anticipation. It's prob gonna be 3 weeks before I get word on it. Sucks darkesword beat me to the punch for getting this source tune posted first. Of course he did his track a long time ago. Ds' track is pretty friggin sweet though. Gotta give him credit on he reworked the main melody in the beggining that was impressive. Thanks for all the comments guys! -
OCR01225 - Xenogears "Pillar of Salt"
avaris replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
dido, this track is sick. star has done some really "unique" things with this mix. The roger troutman like vocals in this are friggin awesome. -
OCR01507 - Metroid Prime 2 "Torvus Clockwork"
avaris replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
ah no...DS beat me to punch for having the first MP2 mix. I rememer the first time i ever got on IRC not knowing where n the hell to go and I played my mix which covers alot of the same source, and DS was like oh I got mix similar to that called Torvus Clockwork with similar piano, and I had no idea what he was talking about bc I never ventured over to VGMix before. Looked for it on OCR not to be found, well after hearing it hot damn... Well besides that lil story, this is sick. A lot of Metroid Prime 2 tunes are screaming to remixed in a downtempo style like this has. The thing I am most impressed with this whole remix besides the general atmosphere and arrangment is how and what DS did with that main melody. Where he plays around with it in the beggining, was really impressive. Also in the middle was awesome. It's such a haunting and catchy melody and DS used it to perfection. Def 10 stars for the arrangement, this is a very cathcy source tune that's not at all remixer friendly. -
looks like djp might have to change some titles of source tunes, of course i think the dude is nusy enough with other stuff, thanks CHz, maybe Foxhull can call his track October Mermaid for shits n giggles

Besaid Island FFX Vocal Mix - Which reverb? Pg 3
avaris replied to DragonAvenger's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Reverb 1 seems to emphasive the instrumental more. Voice sounds a lil more processed, but still really good. Volume is a little bit low on the vocals. Reverb2 seems to emphasize your vocals more. Voice sounds more natural. Volume is a lil high on the vocals. Basically I like 1 better. The overall feel is better. The whole seems to flow together better. But the vocals sound a lil better on 2 though. Well it's all up to you in the end anyways. It's nice to see vocal mix done with so much quality work. Must suck for you to try and do updates bc you gotta add new vocals over the song every time, kudos all the work on this one has def paid off -
FRUITY LOOPS 101 - PLEASE direct -ALL- FL questions here
avaris replied to starla's topic in Music Composition & Production
Thanks zircon, it works much better but it's still not a 100% prob bc in certain parts the guitar is goin 110 mph. Think guilty gear. I'll just split up notes between seperate guitars so the one synth isn't providing every single note and gets overloaded. -
FRUITY LOOPS 101 - PLEASE direct -ALL- FL questions here
avaris replied to starla's topic in Music Composition & Production
wats up dudes more problems with kontakt 2...wat a mother fucker. I have some les paul guitar being played off of Kontakt 2 and in fl studio 6 it plays everything through the whole mix just fine but when I rip the mp3 (224 kbits, max wavedepth, 6 point hermite) it's all fubared. The guitar will play some notes then just stop all of the sudden and go silent, then start playing again then stop again...it's a vicious cycle. Using NI stuff with fl studio is like using a completely different version of fl studio. FYI, in Kontakt 2 I found that if u vary the velocity levels individually on the piano roll and not the master volume for the instrument it greatly changes the sound of the instrument. Kontakt 2 is much more sensitive to velocity levels than the sf2 player. This is prob a good example of why Kontakt 2 is as good as it is. Like the guitar at max velocity sounds really bad. Lower it and sounds really good. -
[Danger] Breakcore, a Boulderdash Remix
avaris replied to Skrypnyk's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Ahhh double posting...it's sad how sometimes for some reason certain WIP's get overlooked on these forums. FYI I am listening on shitty headphones. Haha no ending so far? I have WMP set on repeat I didn't even notice, I thought the song was still goin on. Ok, synth/pad that playing in the background starting at 1:07, it's in the beggining too needs to be changed. Good idea but the that particular synth just ain't doin it for you. Instrumentation overall needs some beefing up. The basic things you have done with mastering and production provide some nice effects but the overall soundscape needs work. You do have some variation in the drums and percussion but there needs to be more. You could run parts of this through a granulizer for some effects. This one is prob only gonna be around 2-3 mins max. There is only so much you can do with the source. So prob add one more part for varitiation and add an ending of some sorts. Overall this is a excellent groundwork to work off of. But this mix needs to be kicked up a knotch in all areas. Keep working at it this one has got potential. -
the interview was awesome...2 comments real quick...mix was awesome extremely well put together In defense and support of all yankee haters and boston red sox supporters YANKEES SUCK, hack cough... Also the sat release shedule is a wicked good idea

Besaid Island FFX Vocal Mix - Which reverb? Pg 3
avaris replied to DragonAvenger's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
I don't know what it is but this version feels so much better...I don't know haha. Everything seems to flow much better. The last couple verses were great vocally and arrangement wise. In the beggining the na na na I love you so part. For some reason I think it would sound better if the vocal were less pronounced and sang with a more a "whisper" like voice. All the work you guys have put into this mix is really starting to pay off, this mix just screams to be in an old john cusack 80's film
