Cheesy/Horrible/Memorable Quotes In Video Games
The Pezman replied to TheSnowStorm's topic in General Discussion
How could I forget? Original fan translation of Metal Gear 2: "Snake! I take the cartridge! Burn and die!" -
Can this whole shebang be opened up to include memorable quotes? It would be nice to remember the best things people have said here through the ages.

LURKERS: Choose a forum avatar and let me know why you like it

I've never seen this particular Knuckles sprite anywhere in the games. It looks awesome. -
I was thinking about this the other day and did a bit of research. It seems most of the capture cards are focused on recording television and, as a result, only accept coaxial input. When I'm looking, how do I specify a capture card that accepts RCA and hopefully HDMI?

AVALANCHE: Fanmade FF7 action/adventure game
The Pezman replied to zircon's topic in General Discussion
Good to know, but I'll probably just wait to try it again once I've upgraded my laptop (hopefully soon). Yet another reason my current machine is a complete POS. -
Today is last day to audition, peoples.

I played Uncharted: Drake's Fortune on an acquaintance's PS3 tonight (I just met him, so I can't really call him a friend). I'm normally not one to go gaga over graphics but I was drooling over the physics engine. The whole really feels like a movie. Maybe the Indiana Jones 4 that didn't involve aliens.

Shrek reminds us all that kids movies can be perfectly fine for adults. Particuarly when they've got that cynical, sardonic twist. EDIT: Just noticed Jarvi's sig. It's in a whole new light now.

I don't play wind, brass or string instruments, but nearly every other instrument I dabble in to some degree. I have no idea whether this is at all legit, but I did hear about this guy. It might be worth looking at his stuff.

I think this is where the key disagreement is falling. I haven't played it, but from what I know of this game, it simply meant to teach you how to play a given song. But anyone who picks up an instrument to learn a specific song is not doing it for the right reason. It doesn't sound like the piano roll system would abstract well to the extent where it could conceivably be used as a sheet music replacement. But for the purpose of nailing down specific notes and time durations for a specific piece, it should work fine.

AVALANCHE: Fanmade FF7 action/adventure game

Is anyone else who's running this having problems with extreme slowdown? I've turned off all the graphics enhancements and I have a Radeon X600 video card, but I can't get it to play at anything approaching a reasonable pace. -
Has any one heard of the new live action dbz movie?

If they squish things together and have him dress up as The Great Saiyaman it will be awesome. -
21. Wii is the only current-gen console I've got, PS2 from last gen. And, since I am a PC gamer, the laptop as well. For me the Wii was a very spontaneous purchase. It was right there in the Gamestop and I knew I might not get another opportunity like this. Of course, I left for USC maybe two weeks later, but while I was around I was chugging through Metroid Prime 3 and Mario Galaxy (both of which were lent to me by friends).

Don't make any comments on assassinations of previous judges and you'll be fine. -
I thought that was some funny shit, by the way. But you'll definitely want to hop on Ventrilo to practice for various chars. The main characters all had voices in Advent Children, Crisis Core and/or Dirge of Cerberus. If you look up videos of those, you can get an idea from that. But there are also open spots for characters who had no appearance, and in that case you have a bit more freedom. As I mentioned, you'll want to come onto Ventrilo to practice for other people. You can find the FF7 script here.

http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=7606.0 Qhimm Forums is a great FF7/8 PC hacking site. They've come up with great programs like the FF7 battle --> field model converter (replacing all the lego field models of the main characters with their battle model counterparts), JENOVA (savegame editor), MIDI patches for improved sound in FF8, and more. Now, they're starting an FF7 Voice-Over project to put into the game. Since many of the projects have gained significant headway, I wouldn't be so quick to assume that it will die off. In the initial thread where this idea was suggested, a user had this to say: So, I guess you've been recommended from the start, Jill. I for one am psyched about this and will be auditioning over Ventrilo (details in the linked thread). I would highly recommend others do as well.

Interesting story as to how this all worked out. My first experience must have been piano lessons when I was small. But as the story goes I wasn't interested, and as the story goes I've come to regret that later. I did take up the drums informally in late elementary school/early middle, but didn't do much with it til high school. Now one thing I did do from a young age was act. Technically I sung in Essex Youth productions when I was very tiny, and then I spoke sang my lines in "How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" in eighth grade (I was Womper/the book voice). But it wasn't until 9th grade, when I was in Gypsy, that I started to think about singing. I also started taking drum lessons that year. The next year in 10th grade I continued my drum lessons and sang in chorus and Carousel, that year's musical. I actualy got pretty good by the end of the year, and I got to play drums alongside our director for the women's chorus. That summer I headed off to music camp, where I learned all about toned percussion. I got to play in band and orchestra, neither of which my high school had. I enjoyed myself, though I didn't care for the social environment. My music skills were put to the test in 11th grade with Les Miserables, Chorus and Music Theory. I didn't end up doing that well in Music Theory because I hadn't had enough prior experience with playing an instrument, but I had fun and learned a lot. That year, a person at our school debuted the "Between the Lines Rock Concert." Between the Lines is the name of our school newspaper, and the concert is to raise money. I hopped on board, and I got together with other musical people to play covers of popular rock songs. We had two of them this year. I returned to the music camp the following summer. 12th grade was more of the same: the musical (A Little Night Music), chorus, Music Theory Composition (similar story to Music Theory I) and the rock concerts. So all in all I was pretty musical. And then I got to college. My first semester was a complete mess. I didn't join chorus, but took piano lesssons my first semester. But because I could never schedule i practice time I didn't do so well. But it was this semester that I did meet Jon (q-pa), who began to give me the idea of music and technology. My grades were so horrible my first semester that my parents convinced me to go to a different college for a semester. It was horrible and I hated it. The only thing that kept me sane was the music recording and editing class, which really helped me to solidify my talent and interest for digital music. I stated to get into OCR at this point. Sophomore year witnessed a sharper decline. I sang in chorus for that fall but didn't like it (missing all the social aspects from high school chorus). The following semester was almost nothing, with the exception of The Rocky Horror Show. This past year I've really ramped up the whole audio and technology thing, and now that my finances and the technology are where I need them to be, I think I'm about ready to reinvent myself musically. I guess I'll start by remixing.

Final Fantasy VII: If you do horribly in the soldier march: "Hey! Somebody send that guy a bomb or something!" Received 'Grenade.' Anything from the play in the date scene. Final Fantasy VIII: "I dreamt I was a moron." Arc the Lad II: "Don't you know anything, kid?! You NEVER interrupt a psychotic diatribe!" All I can think of for now. Final Fantasy IX: "Ooooh, soft." -

Okay, I found this. Can anyone speak to its durability? -
I personally use Easy CD-DA Extractor. It also keeps track of disc errors and such, but it seems less overkill than EAC. Easy CD-DA also has many more options and potential formats.

C'mon, I know someone out there will want some of this.
