  1. Age of Mythology: Yes Age of Mythology is easily one of the most enjoyable RTSs avialable. The graphics are great even compared to most of todays RTSs. The sound and music are superb. The gameplay is also very rock solid. It has everything the Age of Empires games have to offer and plus more. The whole building wonders, gathering food, and building walls are there plus you got the whole God worshipping system which adds a lot to the gameplay. Depending on which Gods you decide to worship, your upgrades change, the myth units you can train change, and most importantly, your God powers change. There nothing quite like watching a Meteor Shower raining down on your enemy's base. Great RTS and PC game overall.
  2. Even with the newer stuff, its pretty hard to get many of the new next-gen games coming out running good. My PC has: 256MB Nvidia 8600GTS AMD Athlon 64X2 5000+ 2GB Ram I just got the Unreal 3 and Call of Duty 4 demos today and I can't get them running at a constant smooth framerate at anything higher than 800x600. I can just imagine how Crysis will run. My PC can actually run most older next-gen games very well though. Half-life 2, Doom 3, Prey, F.E.A.R., Company of Heros, Call of Duty 2 and Age of Empires III all run great with everything on high settings at 1024x768 resolution and 2x-4x Anti-aliasing. Bioshock runs pretty good too. So, basically if you want to run Crysis, Unreal 3, and Call of Duty 4 at good settings you better be ready to fork over a lot of money. An 8800GTS and 4GB of ram would probably give you overall good performance. Also, don't worry about the whole DX10 issue. Most games support both DX9 and 10. Even games like Stracraft II and Rage which aren't even coming this year are going to support both.
  3. Man this game looks amazing. There are a lot of cool videos at IGN and 1UP of in-game footage. Man I wish I could play it. This makes me even more pissed off that it got delayed. Oh well, it'll come out when its ready. I'm just hoping it won't get delayed agian to like Holiday 2008. That would seriously suck.
  4. Metroid Fusion: Yes Metroid Fusion is easily the best Metroid handheld game ever made and one of the best games avialable for GBA. It did change the metroid formula quite a bit but the main gameplay is still very much their. The atmosphere is great and spooky a times. The boss fights are amazing and pretty challegening. The graphics are easily some of the best seen on any GBA game and sound and music was really good even though it might not be as memorable as other Metroids. Fusion is also one of the most story driven Metroids. The story was also actually very good. If you like Metroid games this is definately a must play and I think anybody who owns a GBA should at least give it a try. It really is an excellent game. Duke Nukem 3D: No I'm noing the saturn version of this game. The PC version is so much better, so when it comes time to vote for the PC version, I'll say why the game might be worth your time.
  5. *Wow who would have guessed Sonic would be in Brawl!* Seriously though, this is awsome. Everybody knew he was going to be a playable character but at least its official now. I also really really hope they don't delay this game like they did in japan. It would be the worst delay in the history of video games.
  6. Wii Number: 5754 7707 5824 Metroid Prime Hunters: 1847 8315 3156 Mario Kart DS: 137539 688922 Steam ID: DSX100 Unreal Tournament 2004: DSX100 Warcraft III: DSX100 And thats about it for now. I don't have the time to play on-line a lot so don't expect to see me very often. Also the only game I have played on Steam online is Half-Life 2 Deathmatch. I probably play hunters and Unreal 2004 the most.
  7. I just thought I'd post this. For those kepping up with the thread, KOF XI never actually got released in September. It's tenative date is now for October 23. Guily Gear Accent Core for Wii also has a tentative date of October 16. Hopefully these games won't get delayed any further.
  8. Tekken 3: Yes This game, in my opinion, is the best 3D fighter avialable for the PSone and it is one of the best ever. Basically if you played Tekken 3 you have pretty much played every Tekken after. Tekken 3 took the formula introduced in 1 and 2 and just completely refined it and made it the best it could possibily be. The gameplay is very deep and fun although I admit it might not be made for everyone. The introduction of sidesteps and position grapples really made the gameplay even deeper. It also introduced a bunch of cool new modes like Tekken Force and Tekken Ball. There is so much to do and unlock that this game could easily last you a long time. The graphics were amazing at the time. The sound was also very good with a cool kickass soundtrack. The gallery mode also adds a lot to the game by letting you watch every single one of the characters ending, listen to the soundtrack and as well as do that for the first 2 games. Thats right, you could watch all the cutscenes and listen to all the music of the first two. The characters are also very interesting and well designed. They each there own unique fighting style and personality. I'm sure everyone can find a character they like in this game. The Bottom line is that this game is good and anybody should at least give it try. It isn't the highest rated PSone game on gamerankings for nothing. http://www.gamerankings.com/itemrankings/simpleratings.asp If you ever play at least one Tekken game in your life, make it Tekken 3 as it is considered the pinnalce of the series and the pinnalce of 3D fighters on the PSone.
  9. Doom: YES How could you not consider Doom a must have game. This game single-handly popularized the FPS genre. Also, in my opinion, if you have played Doom you have pretty much played every FPS game ever made. This game had the graphics, sound, deep and challenging single player, fun and hectic multiplayer, and the mods. This game would probably be the world's best selling game if wasn't a share-ware file. If your a gamer, you must play Doom at least once during your life. Doom deserves every single bit of the legendary status it holds. It has influenced every other FPS game ever made and for that alone it should be considered a must play game. Do yourself a favor and play Doom so you can see how the FPS genre became mainstream.
  10. Age of Empires: No This game is awsome I think anybody who has enjoyed the Age of Empire's series should play this game. It isn't however a "must-have game". It introduced a few cool new things to the genre like building Wonders but it did little else to make it a "must own RTS" let alone a "must-own game". Its sequels and spin-offs are much better and more worth your time. Crash Bandicoot: Yes One of the very first 3D platformers ever made and definately one of the more unique ones. Crash started a legacy of great games on the PSone (The series took a crap when Naughty Dog abandoned it in my opinion). Its cool unique art style, gameplay, and pretty fun boss fights make this game a must play in my opinion. Very simple game but very fun and challenging in the later levels. A very good and enjoyable game all around. Half-life: Yes Many people have said that this game was the closest thing you could get to a revolution in the FPS genre and I can honestly say I agree. Half-life's in game method of story telling was unique, revoultionary, and ingenious at the time. It really helped out the immersion factor of the game. The AI was also very advanced for the time and in my opinion still is. The pacing of the game was done very well. It wasn't linear and yet you didn't find yourself needlessly backtracking all the time. The weapons where very unique as well. Great PC game that anybody should give a shot. Warcraft Orcs and Humans: No I don't know why but I personally thought this game was a very boring RTS. It was a good RTS but not very fun to play in my opinion. Its sequels are way better and much more fun to play. Maybe thats why its hard to recommend as a "must-have game". If you want to play a Warcraft game, Warcraft II and III are your best bets. Command and Conquer: Yes Command and Conquer was an awsome RTS for the time to say the least. It was intense, face-paced, challenging, and story driven. C&C actually made you feel like you where fighting for a purpose. This game helped popularize the RTS genre and it still remains one of the most fun ones to play. Multiplayer was a blast, and it was pretty easy to setup. The live action cut-scenes were pretty cool and pretty original. C&C had a pretty big tech tree for the time as well. I personally liked the music of the game as well. C&C is a great RTS and a great game all around that anybody should try out.
  11. I know the title is very vague but I wanted to explain it more in-depth in the post. I need help locating Video Game features (like Game Trailers' Bonus Round or IGN's Top 10 Tuesday) or better yet editorials that deal with the possible lack of creativity in the industry. If none come to mind any website that focuses on Video Game editorials would be also be very helpful. Also features, editorials, and articles that mention this subject would also be helpful. Thanks to anyone willing to help me out. EDIT: I think a better word for what I'm looking for is editorials rather than features . I can't change the name of the Thread so I hope it doesn't confuse to many people.
  12. I can't roll if my life depended on it. I also do that drawing circles at the very edge and it hardly helps any. Anyway, I have gotten a good hour and 45 minutes into the game. So far I'm really liking it. The whole making notes on the map feature is very useful. This game actually feels much different from other Zelda games but in a good way. I'm glad Gamespot didn't contradict themselves for once and actually gave this game a good score for its innovative new features and fresh feel. Good experience so far.
  13. For some reason I completely missed this thread this time around, well up until know that is. I haven't played any of the games up until know so I can't vote on them. Here is a few of late nominees though. I just posted some I don't remeber seeing already. PC: Rise of Nations Age of Mythology Quake 3 Arena Half-life Unreal Tournament 2004 N64: Zelda Majora's Mask PS: Crash, Crash 2, Crash Warped Tekken 3

    Halo 3

I'm not sure if you where addressing what I said earlier but I'm assuming you are. If not I guess don't pay attention to this post. Anyway, I never really said Halo wasn't fun or not a good game. I just think its over-rated. They really are very fun and very good games. Everything about them including Halo 3 screams great game. But I just the think the hype and praise is way too much. What you described in your post can also happen in games like Unreal 2004 for example. But yet Unreal 2004 doesn't get that same kind of recognition. Basically Halo is over-rated because people claim it to be the "best game ever made" or "the definition of what gaming is" or like some even go as far as saying "The best damn thing to ever grace this planet". That is just too much for me. Anyway, sorry about this small rant guys. I know you just want to talk about the game and enjoy it so I'm sorry if I disrupted that for you guys. I just can't help expressing my opinion sometimes. Agian sorry about that.

    Halo 3

Halo 3 and the Halo series in general is overly over-rated. They are good games but they just don't deserve the unbelievable amounts of hype, praise, and sales it has , in "my opinion".
  16. Hell yes! I hope he still has it in Brawl because that would seriously suck if he didn't. That KNEE is the only thing that wins me matches these days. With out it I would suck badly.
  17. If there is a tournament, you can count me in. I'll probably lose pretty early on but at least it will be fun to try.
  18. Well, my machine came with Vista so I don't have really have a choice. I'm not going to go waste more money and just buy a OS that is going to be considered out-of-date in about 1 to 2 years. Also not being able to run these games at ultra settings isn't a bad thing for me. Like I said in my first post, I just want them to run decently. If the 8500GT can do that, then thats great. If it can't, then I would need to get something better. Money is a huge issue too. Thanks agian for your help guys. This thread has been very helpful.
  19. The online mode is very simple and bare and the lack of leaderboards and rankings kind of takes the competition aspect out of the game. However, I'm just glad the game has Wi-Fi play at all. I'm sure I'll be playing friends the majority of the time anyway.
  20. Alright. Thanks for your help guys. I'll try and see If I can save up for a new PSU and the graphics card. Thanks agian for the help.
  21. Does this mean that my current graphics card isn't working properly because it requires a Minimum of 300W with a 18A on a +12V rail. My Powersupply can max out 300W but it only has 15A on a +12V rail. Now I haven't had any problems with it and my games are running pretty good. Also I had to check the website to find this out because the box only states "A minimum 300W powersupply".
  22. I am very much hoping I'm proven wrong. Believe me the last thing I want is for the series to end.
  23. Ok I am planning on buying a new Graphics Card for my PC very soon. Right now I'm leaning towards an Nvidia Geforce 8500 GT. I here this card is pretty good and that its only slightly less powerful than an Nvidia Geforce 7900 but its supports DX10. So my first question is: Does anyone own an Nvidie 8500GT? If so, what do you think of its performance and would you recommend it? Keep in mind that I don't have a lot of money to spend and that I am not interested in running games at max settings. Basically I just want to be able to run new upcoming games like Crysis and Unreal Tournament 3 at around 1024x768 or 800x 600 resoultions on high or medium settings running at an average of 30 or above fps. I know many are going to say that I should invest a little more and get an Nvidia 8600GT and I honestly did think about it. The problem is my power supply isn't powerful enough to support it according to its minium system requirements. However, I noticed that my power supply is also slightly not considered powerful enough for my current graphics card (Nvidia 7300 GS) and yet it runs perfectly normal. This brings to me to my next question: How important are powersupplies when considering Graphics Cards? Is it very important that your power supply meet the requirements? Is it dangerous to install card when your powersupply isn't considered powerful enough? I'm sorry if this question sounds stupid but I'm kind of new to the whole upgrading cards thing. Also I ask this because it seems kind of like the powersupply is kind of an after thought or just ignored by retailers. None of the places I looked listed the powersupply under minium system requirements. I had look on the manufacturer's website to find out the power supply minium system reguirements. They also don't place it well on the product's box as they only list the minium watts but don't include things like 18A on a +12V rail. I had to look at the website to find this stuff out. Also keep in mind that neither the 8500GT or 8600GT need to be plugged in directly to the powersupply. If anyone can help me out it would be very much apperciated.
  24. I honestly don't see Nintendo bringing out another Metroid ever. I think the Metroid franchise is over. Now I really hate to think this way but there are so many things that just point to the end of Metroid. Metroid is my most favorite of Nintendo's franchises but I just don't it see coming back anytime soon if ever. Here are a few reasons why I believe this. 1. Retro is done with Metroid. Basically another company would have to take over. 2. Its hard for Metroid to convert to 3D. This is a problem for a console Metroid because lets face it, how many Consoles have 2D action adventure games anymore. It would seem a little primative if Metroid were to stay 2D on a console. But there is hope for handheld right. 3. The last handheld metroid we saw didn't really do the series justice. Also the fact that Nintendo denied the development of a 2D Metroid and the fact that Dread was never really ever confirmed in the first place makes it very unlikely that we will see a new 2D Metroid on the DS. 4. Fusion's ending in my opinion seemed very much like a permanent ending. The Metroids are extinct. The X is extinct. Zebes and SR388 are gone. And, most importantly, Samus's relationship with the Galatic Federation(who sent her on all of her previous missions) seems to have ended. 5. Finally the most important reason, Metroid isn't making the $cash$. Lets face it, Metroid has always been the least popular and least successful of Nintendo's big franchises. The series never did that well sales wise. I think Super Metroid and Metroid Prime are the only ones that became player's choices. Basically, there is no real incentive for Nintendo to continue the franchise. Unless Corruption sells millions of units, I don't see this changing. I always tend to see the worst in things so its very likely I'm just overthinking the whole situation. Hopefully I'm wrong and we will see a new Metroid game somewhere down the road. I would hate for this to be the end of the franchise.
  25. Thats interesting, I come across Wii haters all the damn time. Yeah, ebgames and gamestop employees can be real idiots sometimes. They get hired because supposedlly they are big gamers but in reality their taste in games are mostly mainstream and very narrow. But not all of their employees are like that. I know some guys at my nearest gamestop that actually like a little of everything and are un-biased.
